Makishima explains the importance of physical books

Psycho-Pass's Makishima explains the importance that physical books hold over e-books All rights reserved by Funimation
Anime: Psycho-Pass
Physical books-the clothbound ones, is superior.
He's right btw
He always right
He is just fascinating
I love seeing Shogo chewing at 0:35 it’s so cute and hearing him say no at 0:54 😍it reminds me of the way that 1 guy says no in episode 8 of Guilty crown
''There's an old movie based on that, isn't there?'' ''The content's quite different. You should compare them when you have time someday.'' I appreciate that Makishima only notes that the book and movie are different. He's not a ''The Book Was Better'' snob dismissing the movie adaptation altogether. If anything, his encouragement to seek out and compare the different versions shows that he sees the value that different storytelling mediums can bring to the same great story concept.
Shogos voice is nice to listen to 😍
One of the few villains who make good arguments for free will.
This is one of the moments which always reminds me of why I like this character a lot. Makishima is very unique.
I just realised i do the same "dunk it in the tea" thing Shogo does.
Can someone tell me the episode
Episode 15.
Scenes like these are so enriching to Makashima’s character and why he’s my favorite antagonist in anime. Such a fascinating personX
I suppose we could say he’s a man of the people
I love them talking about classic literature in the context of their world.
Dr. Egon Spengler said it best. th-cam.com/video/D3v_ogRaTf4/w-d-xo.htmlsi=LNPAgDhsTKlGlSH9

What episode is this?
I stole this for an essay in my English exam about e-books vs physical books. Got full marks thanks to Makishima :)
Literal plagiarism lol nice one
@@Silenthero66very based lmao
Hbomberguy would like to know your location
Based plagiarism
That old movie he mentioned He is referring to blade runner
Shougo is an Anti-Hero in my opinion, yet he's classified as an Anti-Villain. Was Neo a villain? When he attempted to destroy the Matrix? No, he was considered a Hero.
Do you k ow the difference of anti hero and anti villain?
How NOT to love him?
gnnnhhh nooo... this doesn't sit right.... it sounds out of character in the dub version.
First impression imprints perception, making you averse and unopened towards any form of change
What was Shogo eating
This guy should rule the whole world
We need more of such thoughtful and long lines dialogues in our world.
Physical books have a hold on you that e-books don't. I really relate to Shogo. Urobuchi even described him as someone who could've tried to find happiness had he been born into a normal world; a lot of the time, I feel that's me
He did not mention that e-books can be secretly edited or instantly deleted out of existence, while physical books would need to be physically destroyed, as were historically burned by the Nazis, USSR, or the CCP.
Which episode?
Bros just like me
Makishima is LITERALLY me
I agree. I hate eBooks. After a while running my eyes across the screen hundreds and hundreds of times gets tiring, they're sterile and cold, and they, like he says, lack any sort of character at all. A physical book has history, and even if that specific book doesn't the concept of books and the written word has history. It was one of Mankind's greatest achievements and was a large part of what created the civilized world and the spread of stories and information. The feel of a page in your fingers and the ruffling as you turn each one and the cover under your hand is a much, much better experience than any electronic book could ever be. Being able to put a book, or hundreds of books on a shelf makes for great decoration and a fun collection; lines of code in a device hardly hold a candle to it. The only negative is books take up space, which I can understand if you lack it. But I'm a traditional kind of person. Maybe eBooks are more convenient and the future, but I'll always take a physical copy over one any day.
It's true that he values sensory stimulation while learning on physical books than on ebooks, but if you can't read and learn from an ebook then this character's adaptabity is not high, what if he was put in a life-death situation or game where absorbing an ebook is the only way to pass a test?
English dubs were a mistake.
Disagree
Anyone tell a good cyberpunk novel, now I feel like wanting one.
1985
Altered Carbon
Yeah... Moments like this are why we love Makishima...
Modern day Griffith over here
And…suddenly I want to rewatch psycho pass Thank you very much 🤍
Ugh, expected this to be subbed. Yikes.
Damn, why this dubs are so bad?
I prefer books over e ones. I like the smell of the pages in new books.
The reason I like, carrying physical books is that I don’t have to worry about notifications popping in my face or the screen light hurting my eyes 😂
Which episode is this again?
Basically this guy is literally Anime Ted Kazinsky
Wow, that was pretty good. Now if only this guy wasn't evil...
Just watched and finished this today and this was my favorite scene
English ewww 🤢
Dub hater ewww 🤢
@@EightThreeEightas a professional dub hater this dub isn’t even that bad so I don’t get why so many are hating lmao
I love how this guy also voices sirzechs in highschool dxd season 1-3
When I returned to reading physical books. I cant help but agree. My brain is more stimulated reading from a physical copy than a digital one and I absorb more of the story as well
It's been a while since I took in Psycho Pass, but what amazes me is the depth of Makishima. From the way he's viewed by Sibyl, he's "normal". His emotions are as they should be, or they're outside of what Sibyl can consider. He can ruthlessly murder someone without having a change to his Pass, but the interesting thing is that Makishima is anything but emotionless. He's the opposite, -- he's more like someone who has integrated his shadow and understand who he is and how he feels and why. He's much like Black Reaper Kaneki in Tokyo Ghoul, -- he displays emotions, even if the way he displays them are controlled. Watching this made me realize that Makishima isn't a machine. He's the opposite, he's a genuine human being. The reason he chose not to ally with Sibyl and receive a cyborg body is because of those tactile senses, emotions and everything that makes him human. Without them, he would not be him. The reference to Dick, Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep? and Blade Runner illustrate the nuances of what goes on in Makishima's head, and shows just how varied he is in what he consumes.
The man's a monster.
@@selfimprovement5873 and we love him lol
