Scotch & Scripture
United States
เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 28 เม.ย. 2024
Two of the greatest pleasures I've experienced in my life are to ponder deeply the greatness of God, and to enjoy the artform that is the single malt Whisky of Scotland. Based in Tennessee, I especially like to enjoy the two in tandem. I'd love to share that with you and enjoy a dram and a wee thought together. All welcome. Slainte Mhath!
My Top 5 Scotch Whiskies of 2024
These are the 5 Scotch Whiskies that really turned my head this year. I've probably tired more Whisky this year than any other of my life and I have to say that narrowing them down to just 5, was no easy task. To be considered, the Scotch had to bring something a little different to the table. Outstanding nose, palate and finish, plus an 'X Factor' that can't be easily defined. I think you'll be surprised at my top pick. Let me know if you agree!

I believe that some of the best conversations about God and his word happen over a quality dram of Single Malt Scotch Whisky. So, perhaps naively, I have recreated that combination on TH-cam. I know some people won’t be happy about it, but I’m not here to debate you if this channel offends you. Please move on with grace and I’ll extend you the same courtesy. For everyone else, let’s build a community of believers who celebrate the goodness of both Scotch, and Scripture.
I’m not a Pastor, Bible teacher or Qualified Theologian. Hopefully that disclaimer gets me out of being held to a higher standard (James 3:1). I’m an encourager, believer, worship leader, songwriter and Whisky enthusiast.
Slainte Mhath, Rob.

@@scotchandscripture Hey man I play piano and love your vids. Could I potentially send you a backing instrumental for your videos ? !
@ sure!
I’ll send them over within the next couple of days !
Somewhat surprising. But after all, why not. It's just about everything you may appreciate in your life in this breathtakingly beautiful world.😊
Preach!
I love your channel. Keep spreading the Word and good scotch.
@@LJrock101 thank you!
The worst are the trolls, especially those claiming to be Christians.
Excellent comments and thoughts on money, you are right, it is touchy subject but you break it down nicely. Also, I have two blended scotch in my collection, Monkey Shoulder was one of my early scotches and I still enjoy it and always have a bottle on hand. Plus it is easy scotch for newbees to try and to pick up a bottle without hurting wallet. A second bottle I recently purchased and rather like is Naked Malt, which is blend scotch whiskey from first fill oloroso sherry casks. It is sherry foward without overdoing it in my opinion. Keep up channel, mountains are made over time.
Thank you! Yes, I've tried Naked Malt - it's a really good blend for the money.
Just found your channel, this is my first video and love it. Also, kudos finding way to marry your love of faith with love of scotch whiskies, this is great way to spread the Word.
@@68camarors327 thank you for the kind words! Appreciate your support
What rubbish about Thurso, You sound if you're from the south of England and the north of Scotland is near the north pole.
I love the clear and concise whisky reviews paired with the Biblical wisdom!
Great take! Keep doing it the right way and producing content you feel good about.
Thank you!
Great Word!

Great video big man . Ive yet to try Campletown loch but its definitely on my radar . I do like a blend but normally end up buying a thompson bros bottle . Cheers

Get in the boat... unless it says "Titanic" on the bow. Laphroaig Lore... ah, I enjoyed our time together sharing a wee dram of it! Slainte! 🥃
hahaaaaaa. Yeah, get off that boat. Women and children first though
Appreciate your faithfulness. Good word get in the boat mate 😊
All aboard!!
That’s good, bro. How many even get in the boat to begin with? Such an elite requirement to then get back out of the boat.
.....and often learned the hard way! Definitely in my case. Thanks for the encouragement
У нас очень популярный виски. Стоит около 30 долларов.
That is the problem with sending children to government schools. The end up being encircled by ungodly fools and the pressure to succumb to peer pressure is great. Every time I hear someone argue against homeschooling saying, "But what about socializing? How will they learn?" The young mind needs to be socialized by wisdom, not the folly of youths. Ardbeg Uigeadail is a favorite of mine and goes for about $75 where I live. It is far better than many that sell for $100+.
@@KildaltonTheologicalStudies as a survivor of govt schooling, I support this take! No substitute for wisdom.
I have 9 good malts on my fire place and am on my 5th week of abstinence. One of those is springbank 10 . Last time I Lasted 3 months and this time I'm going for 6 to 12 . It's been a long time coming and 5 weeks in my body and brain are thankfull .
@henryDzieciontko good for you, that’s a huge achievement. I want to do that with sugar but I need more willpower first!
Про существование релиза под №2 даже не знал! Было интересно узнать вашу пятерку фаворитов. Спасибо за видео! У меня мало опыта в виски, но это очень интересный напиток!
Thank you for watching! My best advice is to research flavor and nose that you think you’ll like then buy a bottle that fits that description. Then when you get it, take it slow and enjoy the process. I’ve got a video on how to drink scotch whisky that might help. Cheers to you!
Liked and Subscribed. I love Christmas even though there is a general attack on faith in Canada right now. I am hoping and praying for a very positive 2025 for you and yours. Slainte!

Hello from Canada ! thanks for the tips
@@strgil no, thank YOU! Your welcome 🙏
Aye - love experiencing New Year in other countries. In Florence IT in 2019 and they party all night long...fireworks until sunrise...wow. In Hawaii few years earlier and of course, great weather and if you can believe it, fireworks for sale in Costco! Scotland is on our list and can't wait. Need to find that Smoky 12. Lore is lustful. Fell on my face few months ago, found the Loch at clearance at local grocery for $20US...passed the IQ test and got 3. Even at $50-$60 it's great. Very delicious...cheers, Merry Christmas, and Happy New Year!
@@davidg5308 $20 is insane!! Well done on that one. If you go, Edinburgh is the place to be, even if that’s hard to admit from a west coaster. Thanks for the support and a very Merry Christmas to you sir!
I like the affordable blends such as NAKED Grouse (NO Pete or smoke w an exception of Oban 14!)…any other suggestions? Oh & a good wheat bourbon ;-)!!!
I'm afraid I'm not much of a bourbon guy, HOWEVER, a good Scotch blend at that price point would be Monkey Shoulder. If you can handle a wee bit of smoke like your Oban, I'd look at Jura 10 for a very affordable single malt with a lot of sherry sweetness and a mild smoke kick to help it along. A lot of Bourbon folks I know have enjoyed that one. Hope this helps and thanks for the comment.

Just found your channel mate and subscribed - great top 5 and some new ones for me to look at! Have a great Christmas & NY!
@@jasonwhite6121 merry Christmas to you as well Jason, cheers pal!
I think you need to clarify whether they are peated or not. I dont care for the peat, Based on your shelf I think you are partial to the peated whiskeys.
@@omenk8412 maybe you’ve just never met the right peated Scotch? There’s definitely degrees of peat. The Benriach is mildly peated and the smoke has a sweet quality to it. You should give it a try!
@@scotchandscripture If I can find it locally I will give it a try.
I just started listening to these podcasts and am really enjoying them. The wisdom coming through your short “analysis” of a particular verse is concise practical and transferable to application immediately as I can think of a situation which it applies. I’ve listened to several know and each one is consistent with those prior comments. I sent link to my sons , sons in law and a few others. I’ll also have to try some good Scotch as my grandfather was born in Arbroath Scotland and very proud of his heritage. Keep up good work.
@@dougwalton1291 thanks for the kind words Doug, much appreciated.
Campbeltown Loch (dark batches) is such a BOSS. Goes for $55 USD and cannot be beaten at that price
@@steveno7058 brilliant whisky!
Nice list! Don’t worry if you get down to 1/3 full just decant into a smaller bottle. Amazon has great Boston Round bottles 200ml for cheap
@@steveno7058 I’ll look into that, thanks!
I was today years old when I first heard one of my favourite scotches pronounced klin-elish instead of the American Klein- leash, sounds right, sounds better
@@nickparilac372 ha! Well, on behalf of the Scots, you are welcome!
I knew what was coming . My local whiskey shop (sorry cannot say where because he keeps stuff under the counter) recommended this. All the best for 2025 and let us put Christ back into Christmas.
Nice - you are clearly a person of superior taste and gifted with insight. A very merry Christmas to you!
When you said blended I was convinced you were going to go with Maclean’s Nose! Delighted you didn’t as I found it a bit disappointing. I think it got overhyped. The CL on the other hand is absolutely fantastic as you say. Great #1 pick & list.
@@jezhellewell7690 thank you! I was sharing some CL with a friend last night and he couldn’t believe how good it is. A new favorite for sure.
You have great taste. Three out of your five picks use worm tubs. Mortlach is even better if you get a non-filtered IB.
@@malceum thanks pal! That’s a good tip, I’ll look for those expressions at my local dealership. I did notice the worm tub connection - I just don’t know enough about it yet to speak on it. Planning on learning more in the new year
Nice list! I am still so sad Mortlach is sub 46%. It can be so much more... I always go IB with Mortlach! Campbeltown Loch is a belter! Might I reccommend some Kilkerrans in your future if you can get them. 😅
@@TheSurgeHunter thanks for the Tip! I know what you mean about the any. As I go deeper on the journey I’m noticing more and more that 46% is the sweet spot for a lot of Whisky. Campbelltown Loch is dynamite. Love it. Cheers pal
Great video Rob. Campbeltown Loch is a belter! There is nothing that compares for value or quality!
