Definitely make sure to head over to the discord if you ever need any help and watch some other more modern runs as well, since there have been a lot of advancements since I made this tutorial. Some of the strats are much harder though and you can work up to them as you improve. If you have learned how to do all the tricks in this route, that is a fantastic foundation for everything else to come!!!

I don't think I will ever pull that off so cleanly again! LOL If only I handnt screwed myself at the very end I could have been a minute or so faster haha. But this is the most amazing romhack, I love it!!! It's such a good length and I really enjoyed my first playthrough and my subsequent speedruns. I also love the aesthetic of the romhack, Link looks so cool... Thank you for bringing this into existence!!!!

Don't know how I didn't see your comment 'till now... Sorry about that! The crazy stunt at the start going down the staircase is very luck dependent. For me I have become slightly more consistent at landing it, but it still takes me a handful of attempts to get it once. When I first started trying to land it, it took me a long time to get it. Since I play with m+k, I cannot drive backwards, otherwise that would be a great (and stylish) strat. That being said with playing on just keyboard, I do worry that how quickly you beat the level may have something to do with score - I tried to do some testing a while back in figuring out how much each stunt was worth & if speed mattered, but it was very confusing and inconclusive. Like.. check out this 281 that I got which is undeniably a better run than my 283 in every possible way - yet it scored lower: th-cam.com/video/XnaeHXwHliw/w-d-xo.html

So I don't quite remember how the glitch works, but it's a glitch that permanently* causes the Heavy Cannon to shoot like that. It's caused by some weird interaction with the IDKFA cheat, but it persists (although there is a way to turn it off, I just don't remember how). I'm not sure if it was patched or how to do it since it's been so long.. but hopefully that helps you in finding out how to do it :) you should be able to find more info by searching IDKFA glitch or even better, asking in the discord as they will definitely know. All I remember is that the actual glitch is super easy to do, and once you do it, you're set.

@@lordlimburger9883 ah I'm so silly, I forgot I did it in the speedrun for the game. I just watched my speedrun to see how I did it. Go to 20:08 in this video - that's where the sequence starts. th-cam.com/video/YDjktwfrhQM/w-d-xo.html Once you pick up the cheat, you save and quit and go into a separate level with cheats, turn on the IDKFA cheat, and then for the last step I can't really tell what I'm doing since again, it's been so long, but I think I'm just equipping the attachment and that's it?

@@AdamoFC i was trying to trigger it from a completed save, and got nothin. thats probably it, gonna try and get a save file to ARC complex. Then again could also just be patched out :/

Thank you!!! I will try to explain what I did here! At the start of the race I utilize (twice) a bug in the map to start driving on two wheels in order to start earning points when I otherwise wouldn't be. Once I reach the first big jump, I essentially spam all tricks (Barrell roll, Front flip, 360s) and pray that I land (with an educated guess as to when to stop rotating). Once I land, I need to do a few things for the rest of the race - get two wheels as often as I can, and do the max amount of Barrell Rolls + 360s on each jump following the first big one. I am also driving with the mouse instead of the keyboard, as it's faster and what I am more used to from speedrunning the game. Hopefully that makes sense, and thank you for the compliment :)

Hmmm to be honest I am not exactly sure, and have not heard of that issue before. That being said, you would only need to get RNG manip to work once, and then as long as you don't save over it, you can copy the file and simply use that file for RNG manip if that makes sense. I would ask in the discord about it since they will definitely have an answer for you.

You are correct - I expand on this more in the description, but essentially when I had played this game years ago it was ENTIRELY different than it is now, and was much more... Nonfunctional... As such, I basically created a fake NG+ save for the purpose of having an interesting speedrun, since playing this version of the game without doing so was basically not possible haha.

@@AdamoFC it's a shame dev didn't plan to add NG+ into a soul like game. This video reminds me a castle surrounded by brown smog in this game. The castle is too standout to be ignored in that sandbox map while I didn't find any approach to enter. Nothing but the fog street is accessible. Not sure if dev has updated in that area.

Thank you so much!! The run is grown quite a bit since I created this tutorial, but it should still have given you the perfect foundation to continue learning from there and incorporating new strats. Highly recommend watching some recent top runs and asking in the discord about any parts/tricks that confuse you. The WR route might be quite tricky, but as you improve you can use more and more strats to lower your time!

@@AdamoFC At First I was very scared to start running the game as there are some very mean glitches (I hate getting the fox down the ladder!) but as you already said this Tutorial is a great starting Point :) I will watch some faster runners and see what I implement next. But First: Don't die when you Don't have to :-X

@@Knife1989 I got some good news for you and some bad news for you haha. The fox is technically no longer needed for AK skip, but the other strat involves a BRAND NEW glitch that is a bit hard to pull off... But this new glitch kinda just broke the game - it allows you to airclimb without the rooster. The idea for the new AK skip is essentially to airclimb on the ladder that you normally have to get the fox down from, jump on an out of bounds ledge, and then follow the ledge to D4 and jump in. But yes! Don't die is the most important strat :^)

Edit: I'm a moron and I missed the fact that you main Yoshi. You can ignore everything I wrote basically as I thought you did not play Yoshi :^) the actual answer to your question is getting the drop on breaking double jump armor via fair or waiting for them to nair you and using your armor to counterattack (and very often they will lose their jump from the djc nair). Also you wanna be punishing their recovery with dair. Down smash is also really good in the ditto. --- First you have to get really good at double jump cancel nair. After that, I'd get good at using Yoshi's forward air, as it's a bit of an unusual (but amazing) move with a long start up. My favorite thing to do is to use Yoshi's double jump to stall in the air to bait out a grab/attack below me and whiff punish it with fair. Nair and Fair go a long way. Up air is also really good, but a bit more difficult to use well. Then I would get really comfortable moving around the stage and wavelanding on all of the platforms. You might want to practice fast falling up airs as you waveland off a platform, as that's pretty good too. Down smash is good, down tilt is good, forward tilt is good, up B is good. In the ditto you gotta remember that fair breaks armor, and that you can do what aMSa did to me, and dair them as they jump back to stage. A lot of getting good at Yoshi is getting comfortable with his movement. I believe in you 👍
