After some consideration I think I'll review these tips, and add onto them. Tip 1: This is probably the most basic tip you could give a youtuber, makes sense. Though you should adjust your schedule to how long it takes you to make videos (if its rather easy every few days, if its longer and harder to make around one a week etc.) Make sure not to overwork yourself. Tip 2: Well duh. If you want to learn how to make better edits experiment with your software and look things up. For example in the program I use, shotcut, I make my images move in the screen with keyframes, and save them as presets that I can copy and paste onto other images to make the process look better and edit faster. Tip 3: Another good tip. Make sure to interact with your audience to create synergy and make them feel like you actually care. Reply to their comments with at least 1-3 sentences to add onto what they have to say. Use community posts as a secondary way to notify potential viewers of uploads and start a discussion. Livestream if you have a microphone and directly chat with/talk to viewers. Etc. Tip 4: Kinda obvious and easy to understand, I absolutely do not agree with the idea that you have to tolerate the people that tick you off, just ignore/block them, I promise you'll be much happier. Also, don't make videos about drama, not only is most retrostudio drama not worth spending hours making videos on, if you make videos about drama, people will come for that content and not stick around for your actual content. It may seem profitable in the moment, but don't be surprised if you upload your regular content and no one cares. Tip 5: This tip is only really applicable if you make solely gameplay videos. If you want to make content interacting with the community, just go into a game and get it there. If you want to talk about a topic, ask others for their opinions to get an idea on the general consensus about it, so you can work on adding something to that conversation with your video. Tip 6: Well no sh- don't be afraid to make something not wholly unique. Not every video needs to be this 100% unique concept no ones done before. You can make videos on stuff others have done and add your own thoughts/quirks to it. Also don't be afraid to make multiple videos about the same thing (game reviews, avatar ratings, etc) if you think it would still make for good content. Tip 7: Pretty small tip, not as necessary as the others. My name still wouldn't be that good if I told you why I chose it and people still remember it. Tip 8: Good tip, but you gave a very vague answer to a more complicated issue. When making your thumbnail in whatever editing or drawing software, make sure to zoom out a lot and see if you can still get the general vibe of the video. Make sure everything still sticks out. A good way to use this is color theory (the pretentious mans term for what colors look good together) red/green, orange/blue, yellow/purple. There are a million ways to make a good or bad thumbnail, this is something you have to both learn from trial and error and research. Tip 9: You weren't good at explaining this, as this is a subjective thing. Try not to artificially extend video length, if even you think that part of the video is not necessary, your audience won't either. If you're doing a video that requires a script, it always helps to edit it down or even write a second/third/however many times is necessary draft. So long as every part of the video is always either entertaining or important, I could care less how long it is. Tip 10: Ok genuinely why the hell did you think this was a good tip. "Cringe" is such a meaningless term that is entirely subjective. You didn't even explain what you think classifies as being cringe or give examples, what is there to take away from this?! There is no objective way of being "not cringe" you're always gonna have detractors and people who simply don't vibe with your content and that's ok. While it's always good to take criticism so long as you critically look at it to take what you think works and add it to your content and it's in good faith, you shouldn't have to bend over backwards for people who won't even watch your content because they think it's "cringe". Now for my own tip: This will sound corny, but remember to have fun. Don't attach your value as a creator to views and subscribers because it can get very self destructive. I used to think the only way to prove myself as a creator was to make something popular or to make a bunch of videos to manually grind out views, so that I could become the biggest retrostudio youtuber and get all the attention. But around when kloud4k was climbing the ranks and surpassing all the other retrotubers, and most saw him as the greatest content creator in the retrostudio community, over the months I looked back at my channel. While my videos weren't that good or had that many views, they were fun to make. I liked typing out notes of what I liked and disliked. I liked writing scripts. I liked making editing assets and thumbnail art. I liked to get my thoughts out there and have someone who would listen. Then I looked back to the videos I rushed out for views. I had very few good memories. I would procrastinate and not make anything for days before rushing to make 3 videos in one. I remember making ambitious videos that I had never gave the proper time and care to, and they felt incomplete and rushed. I remember rushing out poorly made thumbnails that I put no care into. And when they eventually went live, I was depressed to see they hadn't gotten many views because that's all I could look forward to as I wasn't even confident in their quality. Don't let yourself be consumed by envy or greed, the sphere of retrostudio youtube is very niche and small, there really aren't that many expectations. While it's perfectly fine to want fame and to be recognized, it's also important to have passion for the craft of video making. If you don't like making videos, you don't have to make them. It's perfectly fine to take breaks or focus on other things.
