@@pz29 it’s just a little pun. Germanium is an element that was commonly used to make transistors for electronics decades ago and can be used to make diodes as well. Silicon (not to be confused with silicone) is more stable and sort of the modern alternative. In the world of guitar pedals though, germanium is often attributed borderline magical properties for how components made with it sound.

It’s a cool FET based drive. I guess designed in collab with Howard Davis (Deluxe Memory Man). It fills a similar role to the Super Phat or BD-2 as an amp-y drive that can get into power amp fuzz territory. It has a unique voicing though, and really runs the spectrum of touch sensitive low gain to blown speaker fuzz.

My dad bought it off someone at work back in the 80s when I was a kid and it was always the guitar around the house growing up. Eventually my dad passed it to me and it's been fun having an old friend around. Solid build and I love the sound. They're still a relatively affordable way to get into a vintage archtop.

There is a touch of modulation with the 30ms Double Tracker. it has both a pitch (in cents) and time (in milliseconds) adjustment. This causes a slight chorus effect, but with our the circular oscillator running the whole time. Chorus without chorus. ;-)

Thanks! That bit is part of a cluster of parts that I kind of have worked out as things that go together but I haven’t figured out how everything fits… I’ve always particularly liked that ringing arpeggio with the close intervals in there.
