My only experience with TE is a pair of pocket operators; arcade and robot. They are very simple devices. Basically one song at a time. I have no experience with the PO33 but the 1320 is vastly more capable than the arcade/robot. 7 songs, really long pattern lengths and the Medieval samples are very good.

That’s right but I believe only 25% is user-accessible due to the hard coded samples. I think the KOII is the same but you get half of the memory for user samples

Almost. There is a “crash” cymbal sample that I made by literally making the sound with my mouth and recording with the onboard mic. I couldn’t really find a crash sound built in and I wanted to test the quality of the mic so I gave it a try. It seem to work well enough :)

Honestly, I don’t recall which tone I used to make the patch. I had to sell the synth shortly after to fund mastering on the album I released awhile back

Thank you so much! I feel I have a lot of room to grow with this setup. I’m forcing myself to use only the options confined within it (except for the tapes in the tape deck) and keeping it fully improvised on the spot. It’s been a challenging yet rewarding departure from my usual style of composing.

@@LiederMusic This is exatly the way it looks like. You can improvise and make tracks on the spot, and there's no limit of trakcs you can make with this setup. I'm pround of you that you have made it. Now you can just take a sit, meditate and create...

@@LiederMusic Are you using MIDI from your computer to create such complex textures and chord progressions? I just picked up this device and would love to make nice music like this. I guess its like any instrument/composition, the more I work with it, the better I get at it

@@ScottofOakland No extra incoming MIDI, just the unit itself. For the "hurdy gurdy" chords I just put it in chromatic mode (using the "claves" button) and played around until I found something that I liked. Then I built the song around it. I have other devices that are much deeper (though this one is deep in it's own right) that I often use to flush out a song I've been making in my head. I find with these "simpler" grooveboxes that I have to just mess about until I find something that grooves with me and then build as much as I can around it. Approaching it that way makes it vastly more fun vs becoming frustrated with limitations. It is definitely a box that requires getting used to. I did only have it for a few days before I put this song up but I was borderline obsessed with it (like 2-3 hours a day messing about). I took a break to finish up some other songs. Last night I picked it up and struggled to remember some aspects of the workflow. I recommend getting a case and some batteries and keep it with you as you go about your day (if you can). The workflow will become 2nd nature eventually and then it will just be fun! When you are ready, share something online and ping me. I'd like to hear it!
