    Yet again another bang on video, spot on! I'd love for Slot to bring Geertruida & Wieffer in with him as they would be already perfect to take on the deep build up play from the back. Hincapie would be my main choice as the new LB signing to rotate & eventually replace Robertson. Excellent defender, young at 21/22 years of age so plenty of years ahead of him to improve. Good at getting forward aswell, plus can come across as a LCB to form a 3 when Trent pushes into midfield. If Diaz were to leave then we already have 3 options for the inverted LW in Gakpo, Szoboszlai who played there at Leipzig near enough & Jones who was a LWF in the youth set up & was adapt to more of a CM/AM in once he was integrated into the senior set up. Hopefully Beck & Morton both get given a chance in pre season as they had excellent loan spells last season at Dundee & Hull respectively

      Thankyou for the descriptive comment, you know your stuff mate. Everything you said is spot on. Geertruida & Wieffer both look like they have strong links to Italy, so we might have to look elsewhere. I agree with the Hincapie shout, I think it’s fair to say that’s Liverpool’s priority signing alongside a 6, and Hincapie seems to be the perfect fit. He only played 46% of the minutes available for Levekusen this season, so surely we have negotiating power there. Would you start Gakpo on the left, or would you still go with Diaz?

    • @34KellyRED

      @@odsfootball personally I'd prefer Hincapie over Calafiori due to the fact I've seen alot more of him. Robertson for me will need rotating more as he has started picking up more injuries lately, whether that's due to the intensity he plays at l don't know. I'm delighted Gakpo is showing just how good he is for the Dutch during the euros, you can tell he's so much more comfortable playing out on the left with the licence to drift inside & have his fellow LB overlap him rather than being a false 9. If Diaz does stay then Slot will have brilliant competition on his hands for the LW position. Both players played at PSV & FC Porto on the LW in a 4-2-3-1 & both do the same for their countries in the same formation which is also preferred by Slot which will help. Gakpo, Diaz & Jones all options for the LW, Szoboszlai can also play there too. Jones, Elliott & Szoboszlai all options for the AM role in the 4-2-3-1. Just need a RW to rotate with Salah & help with his workload now he'll be 32 by thr start of thr new season. Anthony Gordon perhaps?

      He’s definitely underrated in terms of his defensive work. He might not be physically imposing either, like a Wieffer / Onana etc but he’s 100% good enough to play there. Yeah that’s why Klopp started Trent at RB though, so he can Invert whilst in possession. I think if Slot starts Trent in midfield, you wouldn’t see that Pivot. Usually the second 6 alongside Wiffer pushes into like an advanced 8 role, and whilst I think Trent can definitely do that, I think Slot would rather him be deeper.

      I think Jota is probably the best natural finisher at the club, but with him only playing sub 2900’ across the last 2 seasons (1/3 of the available minutes) I don’t know how Slot would use him. I don’t think he can effectively play off the left, and with his injury problems, I don’t think he’d be the main number 9. Serious, serious player on his day, but I can’t see him being anything more than a rotational player unfortunately.

    I love Nunez but he must be on track for the PL player to hit the woodwork more than any other - I'd give him 1 more season as he has sooo much promise, skill, speed just not quite a match winner yet. I think TAA has demonstrated enough to be considered a genuine midfielder. But not Right Back. Sorry - he doesnt have the full back's instinct as to which space to cover when chasing back. But he is dazzling in midfield and will only get better. Cant wait to see what Slot does with this squad, including Bradley and all the young lads who really showed a lot of promise last season.

    Excellent analysis & I love that you highlighted the differences between Trent & Geertruida & how they interpret the inverted role as it is very different. I would rather both the No6 & Left-Back positions too - I have watched a lot of Quilindschy Hartman recently & out of all Slot’s Feyenoord players, I think he would be the one I would take (I know he is recovering from a long-term injury), as the way he plays the left-back role is very nuanced & complex; I am not sure at this stage Robertson or Tsimikas could adapt to that. The forward line is probably the area which concerns me the most if I am honest but that is for another day.

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 20 วันที่ผ่านมา

      Cheers for the kind words mate. Hartman is definitely another LB option we could get, my only concerns is of course his injury. At 22, he's already missed over 70 games through injury, and that's not good at all. Could/ will develop into a top player, but I don't think I'd want to take the risk. especially considering the Premier League is alot more physically demanding. Abit cliche, but if he can stay relatively injury free, it's a player I'd 100% consider! The forward line is going to be an interesting one for sure. I don't think anyone can accurately predict what's going to happen with it. Appreciate your comment bro.

We are going to sign a winger this summer so that could be the big money move. I wonder could Olise or Kudus play some games in the 10 with Mo on the wing? Now that Conor Bradley has emerged as a viable right-back option have you changed your mind aboutTrent being able to play in midfield?

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Slightly yeah. I don’t think we need to sign a new right-back now, but still undecided about TAA’s transition into midfield. We’ll have to wait and see what manager we get, and I might revisit it further down the line.

      tbf the role of a defender has completely changed. You'd typically stick your shittest player LB/RB depending on what foot they were, but now that roles evolved to a point where you need to be good at everything.

      Definitely could be coached into a similar sort of role. He might not have that natural burst of acceleration and agility Frimpong has but he looks so well-rounded. Regardless of what coach comes in, I’m sure Bradley is going to mature into a fantastic squad player.

    Alonso would adjust his system to the Liverpool team. It’s obviously not going to match Leverkusen like for like.

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yeah course, I understand that. Alonso to Liverpool is only a hypothetical at the moment anyway, so I thought it'd be more valuable to talk about what ne has to work with as apposed to speculating about potential adjustments.

      @@castropassion667 he’ll create a system that suits Liverpool’s strongest players. That’s what the greatest managers do. Liverpool have better players than leverkusen do, so that’ll be the deciding factor as to what system and style of football his Liverpool team will play.

    Hey great video! I just wanted to ask how similar Frimpong and Nuno Mendes are? I think at the moment Nuno is pretty similar with his pace however he is more defensive and we haven’t really seen him push forward yet, but I was wondering if at his age maybe with some coaching he could get to a Frimpong level attack threat.

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thank you mate! I really like Nuno, he's got that raw pace and explosiveness Frimpong has with the ability to beat his man. Nuno is alot more defensively minded than Frimpong though, and although he can operate in those advanced zones it would take some coaching. I think for the price Nuno would cost, Liverpool would be better off trying to sign either Frimpong himself/ or a player that's more like-for-like. Thanks for commenting!

      Good shouts, I really do like the idea of Lucho playing as that LWB. Quansah is really talented but I don't think i could trust him at LCB. The fact he isn't very experienced and right-footed makes me think he'd be better suited to occasionally rotate with Ibou.

    I like the Luis Diaz lwb shout. Covers alot of ground for us anyway at LW & Robertson could be a good backup for when we come up against more stern opposition. Trent in the Grimaldo role on the right side is perfect. Salah off to Saudi in the summer so no need to fit him in. Szobo & Gakpo good for the inside 10's. Probably sign another one like Wirtz with the Salah Saudi Money. Macallister in the 6 role & defo need another 6 alongside him. LCB is an absolute must also.

    I think Conor Bradley can be a player like frimpong in the next few years, so I think that position is solved. TAA and all the forwards are in my opinion the question marks in the future if Xabi Alonso come in to liverpool and play a 3-4-2-1 because there are a lot of players (jones, macca, taa, diaz, robbo, jota, gakpo, nunez, salah, szoboslai, gravenberch, elliot, endo) to fit in those lb/lm, cm's and forward positions. I think there will be quite a few changes in the selection what makes me sad because I love each player of liverpool, but it also makes me excited for a new liverpool era with new players and playstyle.

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Klopp's era had to unfortunately come to an end at some point so why not end on a positive. Like you said there's plenty of players to fill those positions not nailed on so it'll only improve us. I don't think Klopp will be the only massive name at liverpool to leave within the next year / 18 months, so there's going to be alot of emotion but alot of excitement too. YNWA

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      He only signed a contract extension in August to keep him there til the summer of 2026. Apparently he's got a release clause that Liverpool / Real Madrid and Bayern can trigger, so I'm assuming he's not out of reach.

    Ive been sold on Xabi for a year now to take the job whenever Klopp left, whilst it's earlier than we'd have hoped I've total confidence he would come in and be perfect. Wirtz should be top of the list, whilst he's not a necessity as we are stacked in the forward line he's the only player I've seen in Europe who's anywhere near Judes overall talent in that age bracket. I wonder could we possibly sign Frimpong as well but play him as a left wing back with Trent doing the Grimaldo role on the other side? Great video mate, best one I've watched on Xabi.

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Thankyou for the lovely words mate, I appreciate it so much! Yeah you're right, I was assuming Klopp was leaving at the end of his contract but definitely not like this. I think Wirtz would be an unreal bit of business, But I don't think he'd be obtainable. If he was to come to Liverpool, Hincapie/Frimpong would be the perfect signings I think. If we signied Frimpong, I'd probably still play him on the right. TAA would thrive on that left hand side, it would allow him to have more time on the ball, and more space to operate, so it would be interesting to see what happens.

    I disagree with you on how Trent and Salah would be used in Alonso's system if he adopts that system.Trent with Freedom is more dangerous than Frimpong just not as fast and with less defensive responsibility he would thrive.Its harder to defend for a FB in a back 4

    • @odsfootball
      @odsfootball 4 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Frimpong is good in that role because not only is he quick, he has the technical ability to beat his man down the wing or on the inside, whereas Trent can’t do either. I suggested Trent in Grimaldo’s role because he has more of that variation between drifting into the half space and dropping deeper.
