I was there...we cheered, "We beat Boulder three times." Aurora Central HS...shoulda been us but Boulder just kicked it into gear through the whole tournament.

Oh wow!! I wish you had girls. But it would be 2A and nobody has that. My sister was a state champion from about 1977-1980.

I was at that game. Held at McNichols Sports Arena aka Big Mac .. Arapahoe was undefeated going into this game versus George Washington .. They dominated their opponents all season then kinda laid an egg in the final .. It was a shocker ..

What a game. This was like the 1974 Championship game between Bear Creek and Manual. Mark Dayoff of Centaraus - played college football at UNC. The "Sutak" family coached baseball (Monte) and (Tom) basketball at Centarus. .

Thanks for putting this out there. I remember that season like it was yesterday, and I was only 11 years old!!!

I got lapped in the two mile but only by the champion and runner up. You can see me trying to fight one of them off at 23:12. At 23:25 I am starting my ‘bell lap’ I remember avoiding the cameraman.

Now I have proof to show my kids (15 & 7). The 100 Champion Howard Henley comes by the house here in Vegas and were both in our early 60’s and my son thinks we’re just two old and fat black guy’s lying our asses off. Great to see some some of the my old teammates from Denver South HS and the triple jumpers I got a chance to bond with. I had to best jump of the year but didn’t qualify for the final (long story) but we finished 2nd in the team standings. Maybe if I had a better meet we could’ve won State. Hindsight is 20/20

Wow. This takes me back. Greatest era in Colorado High School sports for sure.
