Tough goals require MORE than action
If you're thinking of joining any elite fighting force, wanting it is NOT enough.
Goals like these take sacrifice and mental fortitude, not just a focus on passing the mimimum standards required to join.
Shift your mindset:
- How much ABOVE the required standard can I be?
- How fit can I be?
- How prepared can I be?
- How much knowledge can I have under my belt?
Having the mindset of excellence before you go in will pay dividends when you're in recruit training.

Run like THIS for Royal Marines Training
มุมมอง 7Kวันที่ผ่านมา
Running is a massive part of Royal Marines life, especially as a recruit. This means that preparation for CPC, ROP and Recruit Training is extremely important for your time at CTCRM. In this video, I teach the CORRECT way to prep as a lot of people get their prep wrong and suffer for that whilst in Royal Marines recruit training. Im 14 and my dream is to join the royal marines. My plan is to go to university to get a diploma and then sign up for my country 🫡
They’ll never take me with that asthma of mine but I still love training. Gotta say, going out in 5 degree weather when it’s windy and raining to do 45 minutes of pull-ups is just about the most skippable thing I can think of. I always end up bitching out after temperatures drop and fall into the unhealthy extreme until April. Is it really this horrible during royal marine training ? Who the fuck could take shit like this and worse every day for months all while malnourished and sleep deprived. There has to be some kind of moderation to avoid burnout and keep the motivation of the recruits
What is the size of the Royal Marines in 2024 ? I know there were roughly 7,000 regular Royal Marines Commandos in 1982, when the Royal Navy was 63,000 strong. Today the Royal Navy is drastically cut to about 36,000 strong.
Big respect, glad there's guy's like you. I'm a big girls blouse and I wouldn't stand a chance in my teens ( now I'm mid 40's). Proud to know there's hard bastard's like you protecting our country!
Combine both lifestyles. You only live once so just enjoy it. Don't be unhealthy tho, a part of enjoying life is doing healthy habits. Don't let that stop you from having fun every once in a while tho.
Seems most people fall at the extreme unhealthy end of the spectrum judging by modern health stats. I agree moderation is key, but walking up mountains with a group of mates, learning new skills and being healthy is just as fun, and much more rewarding
Looks like fun 👍
How do you think someone could train for the british army please tell me
Wake up at 5 or 6 3 miles run or 1 in 13 min or less push-ups weight training and pull-ups +sit ups
@ thanks

I agree i do 10 x 200 ,or 6x 400 or 3 x800 metre intervals with either 30 ,60 or 120 seconds rest in between after a half mile warm up/cool down its only 2.5 miles jogging / fast run but its better than just constantly jogging 5-6 miles steady state all the time
Brilliant!! 💪
Can someone from another nation join?
Yes mate
Am from Kenya how can I go about it
I work with senior school kids, their resilience is often poor, I use this scenario with them to push past the brains pinch point at 60% to retrain the brains current conditioning. My workouts are hard, where the words can't, impossible are banned, and a can-do attitude is nurtured and grown
Honestly brilliant to hear that mate! You may make a big impact on 1 or 2 kids that changes the trajectory of their lives. I remember my primary school head teach challenging me to 10 prsss ups in year 4. I worked hard to get it.

See if civilian street is so easy why do you think so many ex military men come out and end up homeless, on drugs and alcohol? And not successful like yourself? Can i ask do you think jocko willink is a good person to watch ? Also great video enjoyed this Thanks
I think a couple of reasons mate. 1. When lads join they get fully brought into military life where it becomes their entire identity and the lose their civvy life, when they leave they basically lose their identity and can’t function 2. Some guys come from terrible backgrounds and when they join the military it’s the first time they’ve got a proper family around them, they get looked after, dentist appointments made for them. Told where to be at what time, in what rig and with what attitude. When all that gets taken away they lose all order they had in their lives. 3. They have gone through major trauma in service and when they leave they simply can’t function in civvy street because civvies don’t understand what they have been through 4. If you come into civvy street with a straight down the line military attitude of no nonsense you’ll struggle in jobs as it’s very PC in many civvy jobs. 5. I wasn’t in as long as a lot of guys so I wasn’t completely institutionalised like many. It’s really tough to transition tbh mate. I struggled when I left. I can’t imagine what it’s like after say 22 years. We need to help our veterans more.
Hello! I'm looking into the military but have issues with lateral movements of my right ankle, my strength is fine in my legs it's just mobility issues with my right ankle. I can't turn my foot outwards. Would this cause issues during the medical examination after application?
Hey mate can you message me on Instagram?
Watching from the Philippines. Former RMBS Bugler 84-94. Thank you for these inspirational videos that serve well throughout our lives. Keep up the fantastic work you are doing day in and day out to inspire the nations youth. 🙏🫡🇬🇧♥️
Amazing thank you mate
It is no shame to be booted out of the Royals...they are special forces and elite...tgey are not ordinary jock on the line... They got wet and dry feet in one corps.. Unlike the Paras..they are only infantry trained to jump out of planes...tough infantry..they are..but nothing else....Do You Understand....😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉🎉
Who got booted out?
Would be really interested to hear your thoughts on juggling endurance with strength work - which I guess is actually bread and butter for marines? I've got marathon, fell race, hyrox all coming up and finding it difficult to balance strength work with 5 runs a week. Have been doing a mix of intervals, zone 2, speed and longer runs for endurance and then strength being 3 days a week covering upper and lower strength and explosive/athletic stuff. But it's a heavy training load and keep wondering if I'd be better off stripping back strength work to just a simple 5x5 style thing
said it before. USMC needs to adopt the UKRM boot camp TTP for officer and enlisted...
Great vid. Hopefully all who need to see this, will. Show up in a good state and the training team will take care of the rest, you will not be expected to ruck a 30 miler on day 1 week 1. Would also add that trainees should incorporate some weight training sessions throughout the week with a focus on lower body compounds (DLs, Squats etc).
Great ideas! And 💯 every pound you can lose pays off beyond belief 😂
The physical fitness needs to be good but not excellent the marines train you for those 9 months to get you to elite fitness what needs to be elite prior to it is your mindset you really need to be mentally prepared for it you’d rather an out of shape recruit who has the will and want to keep going rather than an very strong fit recruit who doesn’t have the mind for it but this doesn’t mean to neglect fitness.
I know you aren’t saying this, but would someone with elite mindset not turn up mega fit mate?
@ most likely yeah I was just making a scenario
@ what’s your opinion on my statement because you know deep into it I have no clue if I’m right or wrong just saying what I think
It 100% comes down to mindset mate. I’ve seen mega fit lads leave and ones who weren’t as fit pass out. But if you turn up to Lympstone unfit you are making it much harder for yourself. The best thing you can do is turn up really fit but with no injuries or niggles.
These videos are perfect - this might be a video topic but what are your thoughts on the reserves, I was maybe thinking about doing it July this year (the one troop a year) it would take the 2 years I will be in sixth form and I can do both from home, time is the challenge but in the long term might save a year Would love to hear your thoughts

Can you please do an up to date video about joining at 16 please , I wanna join after school and would like some advice, Thanks
@@JamesCooke-jg8qk of course mate, will try get this actioned this week bro 💪🏽
could i bash out one 4-5 miler a week, and a interval session covering 400-1000m and call it a day for running? and supplement with an assault bike sprint session? been doing 3 runs a week and my body is always getting injured
These are excellent ideas.

You can: be a man, have feelings and have goals you strive for. Shut the front door.
@taylorsouthall739 he's not saying not to having feeling, he's saying not to be consumed with our feelings.
@@jamesnelson2279 He says "we've gone way too soft, way too far". If he's talking about men as a class - who tend to avoid their feelings - then he's telling them to basically stop feeling. And, if he's not talking about all men, who is he referring to when he says "way too soft, way too far"?
Hey mate i have adhd and been worried if i cant join because of it i can be fine without any medication but i cant get off it until im 18 im 16 now and want to join when im 17 what do i do? (I want to join the royal marines)
I’ve been interested in the military since I was young as my dad was in the army for 30 years. But growing up I was really small and weak so I never thought about joining, however since I turned 16-17 I growed from 5ft 2 to 6 ft and have been on and off to the gym, I struggle gaining weight being muscle or any at all I’m now 20 and weigh about 67kg. Would your program help me sick to a work out plan, I just find everything online too much of this and that and need to stick to something so I could have a chance in the Royal Marines. I find fitness and outside great fun but I’m not natural at it. Any advice
I joined up in Feb 1980 so memories are a bit faded now but of all the tests in training the 12 mile load carry was the one I hated most. I got a blister from the cheese grater green socks after a couple of miles, it was a boiling hot day and 4 hours of yomping on tarmac just felt like a bloody nightmare. That day was scarred in my memory and the biff wagon at the back never looked more tempting but my stubborn streak got me through it. After that day i knew I’d cracked it and the lid was going to be mine. Stubborn is good at times.
