M & M Motorcycle Travels welcomes you to our channel.
Hi from M & M (Martin & Mandy).
Our channel is generally about motorcycle touring and short breaks, in addition there will be the odd day visit to a place of interest and meeting up with friends for a ride out and bit of fun.
The channel originally started as M & M Goldwings however, a change in motorcycle has meant a change in the channel name for obvious reasons.
I owned my first Goldwing back in the 80's, had a 2007 Gl1800 and now the 2018, I guess you can say I was a little hooked on them. After 3 1/2 years of ownership covering a lot of miles I have made the decision that the 2018 Golding is no longer for me as per the video 'time to say goodbye'.
So the new adventure has begun on the Triumph Tiger 1200 Rally Pro.
Hopefully you will enjoy our channel content and maybe meet you out on the road some day.
Cheers M & M

Breathe taking views, Huge amount of miles, Glad you all got back in one piece. Will consider a similar route but by car or more precise my “Bolly Bus”. Certainly a few thought provoking moments on the trip, followed by blistering panoramic vistas. When you look at the running time I dread to think how many hours you took only to edit it down to 43mins. The editing must have been monumental but the end results is worth it . Well Done … 😎😎😎
Hi and a good morning to you. Thank you for taking time to watch,. It was a fantastic trip which took some planning. The Grossglockner National Park is stunning as well are the Dolomites. Editing, mmm you are right, it took a very long time, some 40+ hours. Start planning and make your dreams come true Cheers M & M
enjoyed that mate, well done, looked a fantastic tour
Hi, Many thanks for taking time to watch. I'm very glad you enjoyed. It took a long time planning, we all had a great time. Hopefully it may give you some ideas for your own future travels. Stay safe, M & M
Love this video! You travelled so many miles on those bikes! The concentration camp and memorial were very sad places but it makes you think how awful it was for those people who were there. The views were amazing! Do glad you had a lovely time! Xx
I agree with the assessments of the Goldwing, but you should have upgraded the suspension with a Traxxion Dynamics upgrade. It will change your mind.
Amazing bikes, or a load of old toot that is the question.
Makes it my first stop off upon my winning the lottery 🙏,, from northern Ireland,, really enjoyed your video ☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland
I see they sell Mutt Motorcycles. I had the misfortune of buying one when i was starting out. Absolutely bloody awful! Terrible bikes and a total rip off. In the 12 months i owned it. It spent 5 getting fixed. Mutt didn't give a toss! In the end, i refused to take it back. Made the dealership buy it off me. Lost a tonne of money and sleep over that bag of scrap! Incidentally, the dealership dropped Mutt not long afterwards and the bloke who sold me it quit! 😢
Hi, thanks for taking time to watch. I had never heard of Mutt motorcycles and from your experience it sounds like one to stay away from especially with the amount of time it was off the road opposed to on. I hope it hasn't put you off motorcycling and you have found a more reliable bike.
@@MMMotorcycleTravels Nah! It didn't put me off. I've a Royal Enfield Classic 350. Brilliant fun! 😄👍
As a place to look around then 'Yes'. 👍🏻. As a seller, TTT is a hard 'No' 👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻👎🏻
Why?
Yep.... definitely on my way... debit card in hand
Long intro is a killer. 4 minutes before the bikes start.
Hi Mike, Many thanks for taking time to write a comment of which I do appreciate. M & M Motorcycle Travels is a very new channel and therefore I am on a massively steep learning curve on creating videos. Teaching myself how to use the cameras, to what content to include in the video from the intro, how to link that into the main part of the video, what to record, how each 'take' will link into the next, what story to tell through the video, will people like the story, remembering to watch the 'take' I have just done to check it's good enough then editing which is a mind field in itself. So when I get a comment like yours, I do find it useful and will be able to consider this information for the next video, so thank you again. I hope you have a good summer motorcycling season Cheers M & M
@@MMMotorcycleTravels Good reply, i think you should concentrate more on the subject rather than yourself which it seemed to me that what it was about, show more of the bikes not your mug, haha. Example is the start of the video, harbour, pub, blah blah, title is bikes but 4 mins in we are still waiting. No one gets it right first time.
I enjoyed the intro as well
Agree with your criticism of the Goldwing. However, there are solutions if you are prepared to splash some cash. Traxxion Dynamics have new shocks that solve the handling issues and there are deeper pannier doors that can be retro-fitted too. You can also add a trailer for uber storage space. I love my 2023 wing and fully intend to get the Traxxion suspension upgrade. I had an R1200GSA (2016) and loved it but my partner vastly prefers the Goldwing as a pillion.
Hello, Thanks very much for taking time to watch the video and to comment, that's really good of you. I totally agree, I just wish I lived over there so I could of made a visit to Max for a suspension upgrade. I am pleased you both like the Wing. I hope you have many enjoyable adventurous rides on it. Best wishes M & M
Enjoyed the video.
Hello Thank you for taking time to watch, it is very much appreciated and glad that you enjoyed it. We are a very young channel and on a very steep learning curve. Hope you have a great motorcycling season. Cheers M & M
Service feedback from owners of Triumph is sketchy from my experience speaking with owners being quite negative mostly warranty issues. I was leaning towards a Triumph for a moment but holding off for now. Very good choice on your ride. 2 GWs and 2HDs presently.
Hello, Thanks very much for taking time to watch the video & hope you enjoyed it. Obviously this is my own personal experience with the 2018+. I do miss the Goldwing in someways and may return one day but not to the 2018+, maybe the previous generation. For now, i'm luvin the Triumph and what it has to offer. No issues at the moment however I am aware of issues which other owners have had and that can also be said for the GW. Hope you have a great summer for touring Cheers M & M
Good to see you out enjoying your new bike mate, nice bridge too 😊
Hi Chris, Luvin the bike, nice to ride a bike with a bit of character, brilliant handling for what it is. Roll on the European tour.
It sure looks cold and cloudy there.
Hi, Thanks for watching. Not too sure where you are from, we have not had the greatest of weather in Suffolk. It has been the longest and wettest winter I can remember and up until now, its a case of grabbing a dry day to get out when we can. Thankfully things are starting to warm up now. Hopefully be able to get out tomorrow👍
Triumph have a "drive by wire" solution, and the play on idle is to shut off cruise control. Done by light twist in opposite direction on my 2017 tiger 800 XCX. Fantastic motorcycle btw. So there is no mechanical (cable) connection between the handle and the throttle..
Hi, thank you for finding the time to get in touch. I remember riding a friends original Tiger, possibly a 1050 and found the same on that throttle. I have now set up the rider mode to get the mapping of the engine how I like it and also able to do the suspension, much better. I am really getting to enjoy the Tiger the more I ride it. Very much looking forward to a long trip over to the Dolomites on it. That will be a fun video to edit. Have a good weekend M & M
On my second Wing definitely great bike . Like anything else individual opinions..
Hi, Thanks for watching. That was the third wing for me. Loved the previous generation, just didn't gell with this one, I gave it a good shot after 3 1/2 years. They are a great bike. Have fun on your travels M & M
First time viewer. Enjoyed the video, gobsmacked that such an iconic touring bike had such little luggage space. Great choice on the next bike. Looking forward to seeing how it shapes up. All the best Steve. Ex🇬🇧 now living in western 🇨🇦
Hi Steve, Thank you for taking time to watch, I really appreciate that. Yes the panniers are small but the top box has now changed and come up to a really good size. I miss not having a tank bag. The Triumph I can get one on & hoping to order soon. At present I am settling into the new bike, it is doing ok, a real change for me and so far i'm liking it. That is one hell of a move, bet you don't miss the UK weather 😂
I owned a GL1800. Never got on with it for comfort, and felt it was just too heavy. Changed it for a Kawasaki ZZR1400 and never looked back.
Hello, Thanks for watching and great for you to take time to comment. From my experience I found the 2007 model extremely comfortable for long journeys as well did my wife, things changed on the 2018+, there are fixes with various seat manufacturers. Weight wise again the 07 was heavy but manageable with care, the 2018 wasn't for me, too bad. I've ridden the ZZR1400 on many occasions, it is a very nice bike, great engine & handling. You've got a great bike there.
Hi there. I just stumbled across your channel and subscribed. Congratulations on your new bike. The Triumph looks sharp and have lots of storage area. My bike is a 2021 Goldwing Tour, Manual. I always ride alone and now have a trailer as well. Thanks for your video. Ride safe.
Hello, Thank you for taking time to watch the video. Looks like you certainly have a lovely place to ride over there, a little more suited to the wing than our roads. Your trailer sounds fun, hope you are getting on ok with it.
Honda needs to look at how BMW builds bikes. Ya right.
My brother is a recovery truck driver. He says by far the most common motorcycle he recovers is the BMW GS.
If the BMWs and Triumps too was buildt by Honda they would have been perfect bikes that woul last 4ever
@@BibTheBoulderTheOriginalOne same does a friend of me, Triumphs and BMWs are the two bike brands that mostly needs assitace, he cant remember assisting a Honda yet
Agree about the luggage being small for such a large bike , although I too have a luggage rack not sure why you then had an issue because it does then provide ample volume , handling must have been your bike, mine’s fine loaded two up and pillion, never had a problem with it, handling is incredible.
Thanks for watching the video, very much appreciated. You may be right. Although the bike was 2nd hand, I got it from the dealers with zero miles on it so the damping has always been like it. Bumpy or undulating roads was not good for it and on occasions bottomed out. I believe newer models did have an upgrade with regards to the suspension. If I had lived anywhere near to Traxion Dynamics, I may have considered an upgrade through Max but sadly not possible. I loved the bike and looked superb, a real eye catcher but time to move on. Take care out there M & M
@@MMMotorcycleTravels Interesting getting other peoples viewpoints so as long as a video isn’t total twaddle then I will watch it, doesn’t mean I necessarily concur with someone else. Mine is a 2019 DCT Tour, we took it about 3000 miles to the arctic circle in Norway 2 years ago, easily enough luggage storage (including Mrs and her hairdryer and a tyre pump) one trick people often miss out on is that when the OEM bags are in there is quite a bit of space left behind them in panniers and topbox to get stuff in. Re the handling, I have had 5 boxers from R1100RT to R1200RT L/C and a R1200GS. The L/C handling was the worst of the lot, the best was an 06 RT, by a long shot. The GS suffered suspension wallowing on undulating roads , really badly and especially so when laden but the worst bit about it was the fuelling which would be extremely fluffy at slow speeds making u turns a bum clenching manoeuvre, something that never happens on the Wing. Criticism of the wing :- 1. Luggage volume for such a massive bike 2. General cost ( but you know that when you buy it) 3. Cleaning it 🤦♂️ 4. It really needs servicing by a Honda Goldwing Specialist dealership, it’s so bloody complex However once I start it all those things melt away, the musical instrument attached to the right hand grip and sheer effortless performance for me is unmatched
I'm glad that you have gelled with yours, We did have fun on it. We too did Norway on ours and it was very good over there, but then the roads over there are far superior than the Uk network. £1000 for a main service at a main dealer was too much, I think if we had of kept it, i would have probably gone to Wing Away, a Wing specialist. The hill start and cruise control went wrong, believed to be clutch micro switch. Then there is the latest of a bolt shearing in the gearbox area (more so 6 speed which mine was) i'm sure you have seen it on Cruisman's video. Best of luck with yours and hope you have a great touring year. M & M
@@MMMotorcycleTravels cruise man I tend to not watch , a lot of clickbait in my experience, I mean why on earth would you use a separate handlebar mounted sat nav on a bike with Apple CarPlay 🤷♂️. Yes the 16000 mil service is a lot, but the interim’s are not that expensive. I gather from friends the big service on your triumph is even more, it’s mad the cost of biking nowadays, they used to be so cheap to run.
Looks like you might be considering a name change to your channel...
Hi Rob, Good point, yes we have come up with a couple of names however we have settled on M & M Motorcycle Travels. Not changed a channel name before so hopefully those who have kindly subscribed, will still be with us. As you can see, we a very young channel going through a huge learning curve.
Love the new bike but missed Mandy, Bonnie and Skye in your video! Xx
Hi Gemma, Thanks for watching the video. I did include Mandy for 2 secs 🤣🤣 I'll see if I can get the dogs in the panniers for next time. Have a good weekend x
Throttle spacer kit will take the slack out, I fitted it to my Street Triple RS, easy to do doesn't take long at all.
Hi thanks very much for watching the video. Sounds very interesting, not heard of one, A Triumph part or internet search for one?
Internet search one, if you watch TMF at all, he also installed some, I believe, on his Ducati. Search for Throttle spacer kit for Triumph. They look like little red shims.
Google search for Triumph Throttle spacer kit, it looks like a little red shim and works really well, if you watch TMF, he also has fitted it to some of his bikes, it's a very easy install and doesn't take long.@@MMMotorcycleTravels
i have the GT Pro i have the Puig screen and it helped alot. Do you have the latest software so you can press the home button for 1 second and it will lower the bike down and raise it back up when you move away
Hi, Thanks for watching the video. Great to hear from someone who has one and pleased it has made a difference. One shall be on order. With regards to the software update, yup all been done and very useful. Have you put any bar risers on? think I might try these as well as quite a reach.
@@MMMotorcycleTravels Not put any bar risers on mine i think the GT being more road focused they are in a slightly different position anyway.
