Baby Alex catches large Gaula Salmon - with the help of his father Manfred Raguse
มุมมอง 1.3Kปีที่แล้ว
Manfred Raguse dreamed on to go and fish with his 8 months old son Alex in a backpack on the Gaula River in Norway but got no permission from Alex’s mother Brigitte during the first two months of the salmon season because she thought it was too dangerous. A short time before the end of the season Manfred asked again and to his surprise Brigitte allowed him to make a few casts with baby Alex joi...

Cuba - Fly fishing for Tarpon, Bonefish and more at Isla de la Juventud
มุมมอง 3.2K6 ปีที่แล้ว
Isla de la Juventud is one of the best tarpon destinations Cuba has to offer and even if you don't go in prime time you will have the chance to cast at some really nice fish. That's what Michael Mueller and Manfred Raguse experienced during their visit at the end of March 2018. This time it was a bit early for the really big migratory Tarpon, but they enjoyed a wonderful trip with lots of diffe...

Very difficult to hold a fish that size by the wrist when you're on your own.
Very well done Manfred. I really like how you correctly beached the fish below you and released in the water. A great lesson for many salmon anglers who insist on holding them up excessively for the purpose of a photograph. Four cracking fish as well.
Hi Philip, nice to hear from you and thank you for your comment. I have just found two pictures of you with two nice salmon you caught 2004 on the Gaula. I would like to email them to you, if you like, and would need your email adress send to email "raguse@internationalflyfishersclub.com". Best, Manfred - www.internationalflyfishersclub.com
Hey Manfred. I've fished NFFC water in the past but I don't recognise that pool. Which is it?
Beautiful! Thanks! th-cam.com/video/tN7MkmiCaGs/w-d-xo.html
Massive fish!
unverantwortlich ! Ansonsten - toller Fisch !
Great footage! Thanks for sharing it!
Nice catch Manfred! Very few fly fishermen catch such a wonderful salmon in their lifetime! Best regards from Flensburg!
Fine fine fish and some beautiful casting!👍
Wow! That is a serious salmon. Beautiful. How lucky are you guys?
I could watch him cast all day
Nets are very useful.
that was awfull
we have fish like that in 40 ft wide streams in NY state off of Lake Ontario & 15 lb brown trout, coho, king & 12 lb steelhead & larger -for free!
My xwife at Forks Pool Kedgwick River, New Brunswick caught a fish About the same size.the 4ft. Aluminum handle bent In1/2 when I lifted the net above the H20 level
I don’t get it ! Why would all these eejits watch a wonderful bit of video like this and then whine about how this very skilled fisherman went about it ? all this crap about nets(they may not be allowed on this stretch) and lactic acid !
Brilliant fishing in a wonderful river well done to you 👍🏼
Stunning fish always make sure to have a net with you next time lovely fish 👍🏼
Try Alaska, no place even compares! Simple!🤣😉
And if you intend to release the fish, a long fight is the antithesis of a good game plan. A long fight causes oxygen depletion in the muscle tissue and the resulting lactic acid can kill the fish, or make it so weak and slow it can't survive after the release.
wow!!!! Well done sir!!
Grab it by the tail instead of netting it? Ridiculous
That's a BIG fish!
This is the closest i get to my youth catching sea trout and salmon Very nice clean fish
wow pretty
What is a Gaula Salmon??
Gaula river
@@4ndy65 oh I see
Lot of experts on here
Not a great way to try and ‘land’ a good salmon. Very lucky not have lost it. But really enjoyed the river and the take.
Way peplos wen catch fish they messing around to Mach Why'd the fisch??? Specifically Wen the fish need be back on the water¿?¿
Graźi treniruotè ...,
Could you center the fisherman and zoom in a bit….😑
Just for the Drill of it… sinnloser Stress für den Fisch. Nice fish
What a well-deserved fish. No publicity-seeking, no fuss. Just a quick moment to admire the fish and a careful return to ensure its chance to spawn. You are an angler we would all do well to copy. It's forty years since I netted a 38pound fish from the river Teifi in Wales. That went straight into someone's freezer. Maybe they would still be there if they had been treated with the same respect as this guy shows. Hat's off to you sir
That guy needs to use a net. Fish can die due to too much stress and energy loss fighting for such a long time. He was struggling fish showed him some serious power.
Well played.
Gaula river here in california? we have a river by that name
No Sir. This Gaula river is in Norway...also an atlantic salmon. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaula_(Tr%c3%b8ndelag)
well done Manfred
Great video!
Lovely fish and great commentary - you have the knack 🙂
For the cost to fish there i would expect a gillie to be on hand !
If fishing was easy it would be called catching
Great video , how there salmon is big ! 🙂
What a salmon. WOOOW What was the succesful fly pattern? Single or double hook? Grusse aus Tschechien, Petr.
Hi Manfred, great video and great fight of both ! It is very nice to see you play this beauty of a powerful female Atlantic Salmon. A pleasure for everybody who enjoys this kind of elaborated way of catching and releasing such amazing fishes....well done !
Well done that man. BUT what has happened to the time honoured tradition of using a Gye Net? I feel that this angler can count himself lucky, that this monster stayed attached after all the Faffing around to land it!!!
Thats fantastic, so exciting to see the take!
A net on your back could have saved a few minutes. Stunning looking pool!
Have you tried netting a 40lb salmon on you own? Also wading that deep with one is nothing but a nightmare the angler is question has landed many huge salmon he got it in quickly and with great skill
Wonderfull nature. 👏👏👏
Hi Well I have to say the sad thing about this is the unnecessary, protracted play out of the fish, the ridiculous missed grabs at the fish, exhausted by its efforts to get free, it will be in an poor state. This fish carries the genetics so important for the survivability of the Atlantic Salmon, painful to watch at the end and rather ridiculous.
where i fish in norway, these salmon go up rapids so large, climbing 2-300 meter up above sea level to spawn. fighting a fish for 10 minutes is just going to make it take a break and go on its journey when it is rested.
You don't know the efforts of fishermans to preserve fish population especially Salmons. Yes it might not be the best migration for this one but in a lot of river if fishermans haven't protected them there will be no more fish. One day maybe people will do more for rivers than fishermans and we will discuss about that but now we are mostly alone to preserve theses ecosystems.
U r right after so many frantic efforts to get free the fish will take time to recover such a beautiful lake
I think you will find Manfred that a net is easier than stressing the fish out !!!!
Piss off Steve
Need a decent net for that.!
They make them. I got one. And he should have had one. So right Steve.
Stressing the fish out, life is tough isn't it. His release was excelent.
If you pack a big net around all day you’ll never hook a fish like this. It’s an immutable law of the universe!😉
Hi Manfred, great to see a wonderful fishing video without the garnishing of stupid music
