i know this is a late comment, but if i force a value in 02020000 say "f24b" using VBA ram edit cheat, will the game use that value to generate PIDs?I have tested it and so far it is not working

Is it possible to know the timing for a specific seed you want?

An opponent of mine in battle tower got saved not once, not twice, but THREE times IN A ROW by a focus band. Chances of that happening are approximately 0.1% for normal people but because it's an NPC yeah what the hell just give them all the hax they need. As if Battle Frontier isn't hard enough sometimes...

holy crap focus band OP! I did not realize it could activate after you're already down to one hp. Thank you for sharing this. Blaze focus band fireblast is my new strategy lol

This isn't really meant to be done on a cart. The point of this video is to show when the seed is generated. Since you can't view the memory live from a cart, there's no way you can see the seed until you've caught your Pokemon so the abuse is not possible in that way.

But how do I determine this usin an official cartridge?

That's the point of the video: soft-resetting isn't gonna cut it. You just have to geek up a little to find out when the game will give you a shiny starter. Also, you need to know your Secret ID, which means you need: A) A Shiny from that save (so doesn't work with starter), or B) A save backup device (i.e. Action Replay MAX DUO, NDS flashcart, etc.)

@SilverTheNo1lugia It is as time consuming as it would be for any stationary legendary, because the pokemon's IVs, nature, characteristic, shinyness etc. are all decided when the battle starts, so if you saved infront of the tree it would be the same sort of thing.

How time consuming is it, or is it even possible, to RNG for a shiny honey tree pokemon? Combee, to be exact

@Duelingk101 When you get the hang of it, most captures will take up to 20 minutes, and breeding up to 10. Trying to soft reset for a flawless legendary is nigh impossible and breeding perfect IVs, nature, gender, ability, and egg moves can take days.

@Guitarplayer561 I RNG specifically so I don't have to plug my game into a computer (by AR or whatevs).

And approximately how long does it take to RNG abuse stuff? Must take ages.

Unfortunately, I have not had time enough to assist with gen 5 research, but it looks a tad more complex than prior generations. As far as being close to impossible to control, FRLG take the cake!

@chikenz64 I have now learned to RNG HG/SS. I have since RNG'd a flawless Suicune, flawless Articuno, and near flawless Lugia, and am soon to do Latios. I will be making a new tutorial video soon so stay posted.

Since you have it narrowed down to 2 SID's, try sr'ing for any shiny of something stupid on an early frame with either SID, and see what comes up. the first time i ever successfully rng'd was a shiny egg, didn't care about iv's or anything else. it's really easy and doesn't require much fast tapping, and the in-game section on smogon has a good guide to it. if one works, that's your sid.

Works for me. Has worked for Registeel, Regice, and all my non-shiny, perfect IV/nature/Hidden Power pokemon such as the event Arceus, PBR Magmortar and Electivire, and bred Pokemon like Horsea and Eevee. The IV spreads in your game are set in stone, so the RNG indeed works "all too well."

ah, so now you care! welcome to the club. Now, this is where the hard part comes in. RNG reporter will not automatically find your spread. It needs to know the seed value of the RNG (all this stuff is explained on smogon and requires a very in-depth explanation). The seed is highly dependent on the date on which you caught the pokemon. Past that I do not have the time or will to explain.

you can't really. a near flawless spread like that is unobtainable in most natures (if not all), and the chance of our id and sid lining up with a spread like that is virtually impossible. congratulations though, that's really cool on your random encounters; love the palkia spread. unfortunately, your experiences are extremely rare and most people spend months soft resetting for shiny legendaries. I obtained a shiny regice in just one try hitting my target time.

RNG abuse is cheaper (monetarily) and uses slightly more brain cells than AR. Plus, chaining a bunch of pokemon to find out your SID manually is harder than it sounds. You also get to learn about the game mechanics and random number generator mechanics in specific... something a nerd and programming nerd like me really appreciates. I understand your view; a lot of people see it this way. If you want to compete with decent or perfect IV's, this is the only way to do it man.
