Whenever war breaks out in a country every force fights. In 1982 GSU fought alongside the Kenya Army to stem the rebellion by some KAF servicemen. In a battle field or frontline there is a very thin line between Kenya Army and the GSU. The Kenya Army has biggest military equipment unlike the GSU because of their different roles. The Recce soldiers are also trained in the best military academies in Israel, UK and USA and can operate heavy military equipment. So these are brothers who complement each other for the effective defense of our country and will at no any time fight each other. Okelo who overthrew sultanis of Zanzibar was a GSU soldier.
