According to my Grandfather, the first tractor that my Great-grandfather purchased was a 1941 BF Avery General.
What year was this?
Seems like the early 90s at the latest. Just judging by the video quality.
Um it says "2004 Winter Meeting" right around. 1:14
My grandfather and uncles and dad were Avery dealers in the late 1940's and the Minneapolis Moline dealers early 1950's after MM bought out Avery. But, alas JohnDeere and IHC established better floor plans for their dealers, allowing for better sales and inventory.
One thing about Avery was that they were mainly marketed in the south and middle south United States They tried to have a niche market in small diversified farms cotton, corn, tobacco, truck farms etc.
We had a V model my grandad used it to cultivate his commercial strawberry 🍓 patch. But, I can only remember it being used to stage cotton trailers on our gin yard was very handy for that
We have a Avery. I bought it at auction for $12.50 over 50 yeas ago.
Thank you very much Sr.
My grate grandfather was a dealer and I'm lucky to own a few of these gems!
My old alma mater once stood there. Surreal...
Wow! TH-cam officially has everything! Just bought this off a really old man. Couldn’t find much information
Thank you VERY much !!!
Except the tractor was designed and originally sold by Cletrac.
I guess I should have watched more before commenting.
My Grandfather and my dad were Avery dealer in the late 40s and A MMOLINE DEALER IN THE MID 50'S

I know the people that own the place. Very cool people
Wow, lots of smiles, miles, and memories in this awesome video Dave. You truly are the barn Myster. :-)
Rebuilt two of them from basket cases..neet little tractors
Amazing. My dad bought one with cultivators new in 1947. Its still here on the farm.in a barn.pretty sure it still runs.
Thank you. The silly thing didn't come with instructions. I was puzzled where the clips went and what the extra padded dohicky was.
There's a bit of an error here: BF Avery made the "Louisville Motor Plow" back in around 1917. Maybe that's a bit nit-picking though :-) The later ones were the most successful.
Here's the details on the Louisville Motor Plow bfavery.net/the-louisville-motor-plow-b-f-averys-first-tractor/
+Dave Reasons Sr. I am thinking there must have been two "Avery" companies. One of them built steam tractors and then big gasoline prairie models. BF Avery built horse drawn implements then the motor plow and eventually the later small Averys. What's your take on it? Or is this a well-known fact and I just missed it until now? EDIT: looked it up and that is indeed the answer: two different Averys. However, I wonder which company built the 1921 model that is at the link I posted above? Sorry to spam your channel! :-)
Your right, the Avery Company that built the steam tractors was located in Peoria, IL
Thanks, live and learn, eh? The 1921 Avery at the link I posted remains a mystery I guess. I left the guy a question about it on another video on his channel.
Great video friend! Thanks for showing!
What's the guitar music? Relaxing!
Found music at end of video!
well done on your first flight ;)
Thanks, just gotta practice more now, maybe the weather will cooperate and I can fly again.
this is my school, we've definitely gotten better and worse
Soooo helpful! Thank you so much!
Good job Dave! Thanks for your time.
I've enjoyed this one too! Again thanks! I'm old farm boy and pray for America to be like this again. But need I say more?
Amen brother
Thanks !
My uncle had one, a 1948 model. I used it in 1979 with a drag harrow to turn my grandfathers big garden. 31 years old and it was still a workhorse. I think he traded it away for a '67 Mustang fastback around 1986. Sure had a hard time finding parts for it.
Yeah, and parts are now even harder to find. The old tractors are indeed workhorses with out all the fancy electronics on them. Like a Timex used to be, "Take a licking, and keep on ticking!"
Enjoyed the videos thanks,
Check out our website bfavery.com and our facebook page. Contact me through either one and I can point you to the parts you need. I run both of those pages
Let me, be the first to tell you, this is cool. I enjoyed it, mainly because I have one just like it, but mine is still in the bushes on the farm. I need a good grill, radiator, and a hood. and I can get started on her. I seen this done on a old jeep by a military team. I will check your other videos out. and subscribe. Thanks.
Mah Scull :D
A bill was introduced but I don't know if it passed. However, similar bills have been introduced and passed in other states.
