      So update to the catalysed primer. Sprayed yesterday and today, catalyzed. I had some serious runs in my paint. I'm thinking it's equally 50-50 that I thinned the paint too much, and that Semipro 2 is just to entry level of a unit. After sanding the runs out I sprayed the second coat without catalyst and thinned it per directions and I still had some, but not a lot of runs on the second primer coat. I think when I apply the top coat I'm going to keep it a little thicker than what I'm accustomed to and see if that helps keep it in place as it cures out

    Another way to align your work. Keep your cardboard boxes and cut them down for alignment jigs. Measure the mirror and cut a void in the cardboard. Now your machine is aligned with the void. Then you don’t have to measure, align, and jog your gantry. If you don’t need center alignment you can cut a corner and slide the mirror into the corner.

    I'm using a Trotec w/ JobControl, but I like to use the gantry movement controls and the red dot to make sure I am square to the travel of the head... I run the red dot along the longest edge, adjust as needed to square, then position the dot on a corner of the workpiece. I make sure there is a bounding box "positioning line" that matches my workpiece in the design and then I just snap the positioning to the cursor/head location for perfect registration every time. For printed materials, you can print the bounding position line for squaring and registration, no tape measure needed.

      @woodwork740 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yeah I had a Domino. Didn't care for it at all so i sold it. Much happier with this tool as the alignment is much more accurate. I also don't depend on either dominos or dowels to add strength to a joint, that's what I use adhesives for.

      @m.d.d.3051 ปีที่แล้ว

      @WoodWork 740 The Domino is just a bit salty for me. And it reminds me too much of a biscuit jointer that I've had alignment issues with in the past. I'm taking Rockler's beadlock system for a test drive. Initial impressions of it are good, but it does have limitations.

    • @gmcallsuk
      @gmcallsuk ปีที่แล้ว

      @@m.d.d.3051 I hope you have better luck with Rocklers beadlock system than I did. I had plenty miss aligned boards and it was so slow taking 4 steps to fit one beadlock dowel. Good luck.

    • @m.d.d.3051
      @m.d.d.3051 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@gmcallsuk I haven't found misalignment issues yet. Right out of the box, it seemed to be dialed in as far as sight glass, etc. I also use a corded drill with it, instead of a cordless. More torque, drilling is a tad faster. So far, I have only used it for a panel glue up and some joints for a flip-top shop fixture I'm building for my planer and miter saw. In pine, I am noticing that the holes are a bit ... fuzzy ... requiring a lot of clean-up before installing tenons. Second gripe I have about it is non-existent dust/chip collection. I did purchase the spacer kit to go with it as well. Is it as fast as a Domino? Definitely not. Is it as fast/accurate as the template/router/guide bushing set-up I had been using for floating tenons? I would say at least as fast, if not faster. It isn't going to solve all of my mortising needs, because the biggest weakness I see with the Beadlock are making mortises on the face/middle of a board. Biggest question for me ... was it worth the money? Remains to be seen. I'll have to see how it performs in hardwood before I make that decision.

    • @russellseaton2014
      @russellseaton2014 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@woodwork740 The joint you made in the video is end grain to long grain. Glue, adhesive, cannot add much strength to that joint. You must use a tenon or dowel to add mechanical strength. Mafell was the first to create a dual dowel machine. Triton copied them. And now others such as this Igooo you showed copied Triton. Similar to the way Lamello was the first biscuit joiner. Then Porter Cable made one. And Norm showed it to the world. Then Dewalt and Makita and lots of Chinese companies make them today too. Nothing wrong with dowels. They are used to assemble every factory made kitchen and bath cabinet. Dowels are strong. Are loose tenons such as Dominoes stronger? Maybe. But dowels are strong enough.
