Great video! I get where you are coming from with the paints in the GAC starter box....but imo it would push the price point too much for people that aren't interested (initially) in painting. The starter paint set from Army Painter is around 35 bucks, and a 100 starter box with just 8 minis would seem a poor value proposition for many people. That painter set was great (my kids due to priming and speedpaint/contrast paint application, and then I follow after with details, though it does use Army Painters initial speedpaint formula (their speedpaint 2.0 formula behaves differently/better) and their initial war paint line (not the newer fanatical paint line, which is better). The Mercenaries paintset also just came out, and uses both of the newer paint lines, and has 2x as many paints at 2x the cost, looks good. The Alphastrike box is great value. 2 Inner sphere lances and 1 clan star, plus cardboard terrain, paper buildings and new rules etc. The Clan Invasion boxset is a bit awkward - as an expansion with just 5 mechs and 2 points of elementals, it is slightly overpriced perhaps. Giving it a full star (5 stands) of elementals would have improved it considerably at very little additional cost to produce... ($1-2 maybe?). Then you also would have had 2 full stars worth of units to do clan v clan batchalls! Both the alphastrike and clan invasion boxsets have "supplemental" products. Alphastrike has the counters pack. Which includes mire towns, additional unique tokens, 4 5 and 6th objective markers, more buildings, roads, trees, rulers, bigger explosion finders, and other terrain. $20 or less... it's a great product. Then there is the Clan Invasion reinforcements box. It's 1-2 cardboard stands of every mech CGL made up through the clan invasion (so mercenaries designs excluded). As well as their record sheets, plus a slew of building/objective tokens, plus a map for Twycross and rules for the diabolis sand storms (and tokens for them). All for 25 bucks... it's a steal. If you don't care about plastic, buy this box and you have mist of the mechs in the universe as standies and record sheets. Lastly, the newest expansion the Mercenaries box, is amazing. 2 lances plus 4 vehicles, plus cardboard tokens/standees for all infantry and vehicles included in the mercenaries line.

The older knights had better shields and the horses caparisons were plain, those shield designs on the newer Knight are annoying.

Good video! Very enjoyable watch. We play alpha strike almost exclusively and have not yet used the support cards. We do have the commander's edition of the rulebook, which I highly recommend. Maybe a painting guide included in the starter? Do a deal with army painter for a mech paint starter box maybe, if they haven't already done that. The background is fun, please do a video of the games behind you! I certainly saw shadows of brimstone, which is one of our favorites! Subscribed.

How is the scale compared to Votan from 40k ?

Paint is a not such a good idea... lots of things can go wrong with a paint bottle in the box.

Been Playing BT since the late 80s. Nice to see younger people getting into it. Big fan of the Alpha strike rules. The writing of BLP is some of the best lore and novel in the BT universe. M.A. Stackpole is a close second. They are the BT setting. The rest of the writers are pretty much hacks. I don't care about a person's personal politics. Can they write? is the only question i ask. BTW they separated from him but they are still selling his lore and books and trying to not give him royalties. if they are dropping him because of his personal views, they need to stop selling his books, novelas, and lore books unless they plan on still paying him.

Welcome to BattleTech, a ruleset that survived with only minor adjustments from the very beginning. 3025 is actually late Succession War era which ends with the Clan Invasion 25 years later. It's the original BT setting and therefore considered the basic setting & rules. Everything else is usually seen as an extension and pretty much optional. Bascially the Beginner Box is just that, Game of Armored Combat is the Starter Box, Clan Invasion and the upcoming Merecenaries are expansions and Alpha Strike is a different ruleset altogether which uses the same miniatures and dice. Speaking of miniatures, all the boxes come with nice cardboard stands rpresenting different Mechs. They allow you to play larger and more diverse games than only the miniatures will allow for and have been a staple for BT play since I started in the early 90s (though those were more flimsy than the current ones).

I have played some battletech over the last year. I really enjoy the modularity of the rules. You can make the game as complex as you want. The plastic used in battletech miniatures is PVC while multi-part kits that come on sprues are usually PS. I have seen ABS in one case though. I do wish that battletech came in PS as it is easier to clean up, but it is not a deal breaker.

Heads up, Forgeworld don’t just use GW paints (at least pre-2015 when most of these were painted). Their 143rd Krieg for example were based with Tamiya colours.

I'm jealous, I actually have the 2 dwarves boxes, but I am after this one since I lost or gave mine back in the 80-90's .... we do stupid things that we have no idea we will regret one day haha! Beautiful box sir, enjoy it!

My first 10mm was a argitoria mini! The horned warriors being fantastic to paint and something that makes me want to paint more instead of dread thinking about like how I am with 28mm.

I bought this game in 1994 from the local department store's toy section. There was a guy who was playing Warhammer and got me and my buddy into it too, and he suggested it would be a great starting point for getting into Warhammer! My buddy ended up collecting Empire, and I decided to collect Chaos, and so we bought it brand new from the store, brought it home, snapped out the figures and played a game. It was fun and it kicked off decades of miniature gaming for me! So cool to see that you finally got your hands on it. Will you paint it up too?!?

To be honest, female custodes are like Rogal Dorn tank...basically acting like it's been here the whole time, we just somehow never saw it. Doesnt really break anything nor is a bad thing...just evolves the lore which is a necessity to keep the genre alive in a long term. The biggest mistake was WG posting it on twitter.

I am from Italy and a fan of the game and the lore of Mutant Chronicles itself... And I noticed that the copy you made the unboxing with is a copy in my language... An italian translated copy of the game and that started my envy towards you!!! My issue is that this was solely for Amazon for their new show because they wanted female space marines but compromised with female custodes because they thought the backlash wouldn't be as bad and then tried to gaslight all the fans by saying yeah there has always been female custodes and just changed every wiki and post ever made about them to fit this new "lore" it wasn't a decision made for lore or story reasons it was because a massive corporation told them to so they did then disrespected the fan base by trying to gaslight us then call us misogynists to try and defend themselves, if they would have made a book introducing them like cawl was working with their geneseed or whatever and made new female custodes that would have been fine with me and most of the backlash wouldn't have happened, but it's just the complete disrespect that makes me so mad and made me stop buying warhammer and cancel my whplus subscription, I can't in good faith continue to support a company that views me as a moron and a number on a sheet of paper, ive spent literally almost 10k dollars on various warhammer minis books subscriptions etc and now im stopping because of this blatant disrespect

LOL I love/hate this model... I collected Dark Eldar before they got their 5th? edition glow-up and even I thought this stupid sexy wych with a Cruella de Vil pun name was too much. I would make a joke about the sculptor working one-handed, but I don't remember who sculpted this one and I don't want to risk making a joke at the expense of Michael Perry (he who lost an arm in a cannon misfire).

I actually have this miniature buried somewhere deep in my storage unit. I believe I got it as a promotional package from GW back in the early 2000’s along with some Battlefleet Gothic ships and other odds and ends. I believe it’s from the 2nd edition Dark Eldar Wyches line of minis and even though years later I ended up with a hefty DE collection, I don’t think I ever used it in any of my games 🤷‍♂️

I agree with you 100%. Adding more and more stuff to a model to claim it's more "detailed" just ends up putting me off a model. I'll take "simple" models that have all the necessary detail over over designed models covered in extra greebles and nonsense that just make them look busy and cluttered any day of the week. I think Sean Sutter, the guy who makes Relic Blade, has found that sweet spot with his sculpting, and more companies need to understand that, sometimes, less is more.

Modern 10mm have matched (or even surpassed) some 15mm scale miniatures. There used to be a big drop off in mold and pose quality when going from 15mm down to 10mm. It's also good that the book has a painting guide for painting 10mm because the smaller figures require a different approach to technique and color choice.

OMG, I have been searching for this game for years! I just wrote a comment in a vid talking about stupid rules.. and thought I'd check youtoomb and here it is! I have the second edit rule book.. but it doesn't look like this one.. only shares some of the art. I had Imperials.. because of the "Blood Berets" and the "Hedgehog Necromower" because it was the only vehicle yet made by the company.. ALL of them were metal... pretty sure i melted them into fishing sinkers >< only if i had of thought about my future hey. The best thing about this game is the way you play on the table top. you select 1 squad.. and it gets 3 actions. then the opponent chooses his 1 squad ect.. I always wondered why people even played WH with it's entire side moving shooting and melee? It made no sense, However it had the models, paints and community and of course.. Warzone disappeared. Also the story behind it is STILL the most likely future scenario for the human race I have ever seen in any sci-fi or fantasy... corporations buying each other out until they own everything except for their competing Mega-Corporations ... Up until they wake up hell.. People are born, live and die in the corporations, similar to the Imperium.

Harry the hammer has had 3 models, the first was the namesake of "warhammer", the second is the one you have with you, and the third they did a remake of durring the end times
