Very nice looking set up! I must say if you planning on any astro imaging you might find a Moonlight instruments or ZWO or other focuser works better with many scope control and imaging software than the Meade micro focuser - as it is not an absolute position one - so SGP or APT have some issues with it. Does the main scope have a focus lock on the primary or some other mechanism for reducing mirror flop and shift as your scope moves across the night sky? If not then this can be a pain - and you may need to go on or off axis guiding rather than the piggybacked star lock!
Thanks for suggesting those dollies. I just got my LX600 12'' and without the dollies, handling the scope by myself would be very hard. But with this nice idea, I can roll it out and in, no problem!

I have had a few LX200s in the past and the quality of the scopes have always been less than perfect if you look too close. The trick is to not look too close. This is a nighttime instrument and all of mine worked great and have given me much pleasure. I am considering this one now in almost 2021. I wonder if you are happy with it at this point. From personal experience, I believe you are. I am concerned about the Starlock not being able to lock onto a star under my NYC skies. Still up in the air for only this reason. The flaws you discovered are nothing to me. As an experienced LX200 user, I have come to expect them. Thank you very much for your effort with regard to your unboxing. It was very helpful!
For the prize that you pay for it, the materiales should be of better quality. Another issue with meade product, in my opinion, is that they only offer one year waranty. For the prize and all that electronic parts of the mount and the telescope, it is not enough, at least it should be over 3 years.
if you ever need any help with you scope please contact me www.meademods.com I repair and upgrade all meade scopes that bolt you showed that would not thread in all the way , they did not machine the threads i all the way through so you need to re-tap it so the longer bolt will tighten up.

I notice when you loosen your scope to move in declination, that the whole setting circle moves freely also. How do you use the setting circles if they are free to move around ? My Meade has it's setting circle fixed to the tube and moves with the tube against the index arrow on the fork. Locking the tube is done with an independent lever and not like yours, where you appear to lock/unlock with the knob in the center on the setting circle.
I was looking for some info on the Meade LX600 since I am helping a school out that has one in a dome. I know this video was done many years ago, but I have some comments / suggestions. Could not find the email address that the person said would be in the links. I have a Meade 10” LX200GPS which is like the LX600. A school I am helping has a Meade 10” LX600 and I really do not see much difference other than the fork and the star guider. I also have a wedge and take astrophotography with my scope. I use a 6.3 focal reducer prior to the electric micro-focuser. A must for astrophotography to get the most field of view in. I should have gotten an German Equatorial mount and a smaller refactor scope for astrophotography. However, I have done some nice photos of Moon, planets and deep space using both eyepiece projection and mostly prime focus projection with my 10" Meade LX200GPS telescope. To ease the movement of the wedge adjustments, I put Teflon type washers under the three bolts and the main center bolt and on the other bolts on the side and back. You could change out the bolts to the type that have knobs. You just need to get the right threads and length you need. I think you might can just buy handles for the bolts you have. You do not want to tighten the bolts down too much. You must be able to adjust the wedge to polar align. I do not tighten the bolts down even after polar alignment is completed. Wind will vibrate the scope especially with the dew shield but I never had wind move the scope out of polar alignment. Movement is just vibration from the wind greater than maybe 2-mph. I also have dew heat strips and a dew heater controller. I have heat strips on the front, guide scope, finder scope and my red dot. I also have two extra strips for different diameters of eyepieces (1.25” & 2”). I did change my finder scope out to one with a diagonal. I am too old to be a contortionist. I use a Dew Buster controller (www.dewbuster.com). The Dew-Buster site has information on how to build your own heater strips, but I preferred to buy commercially available strips; Dew-Not heater strips. I will say that I have been completely happy with the Dew Buster and the man who makes them serviced mine for free when the cord was going bad. He put a new heavier gauge cord and changed connectors to the modern black and red type. I also had him make me some more connector types which I paid for. Great service and helpful person.

I’ve seen another video about that stand being bad , this guy went through two stands and waiting on a 3rd , contact mead and don’t take any crap from them , the stands are bad , make them give you a good one all that money you paid for this scope it better be perfect

I wish i had those babyboomer retirement problems...i can only afford a kitchen roll tube with reading glass lenses and a Reynolds wrap finish.

I was looking for some info on the Meade LX600 since I am helping a school out that has one in a dome. I know this video was done many years ago, but I have some comments / suggestions. A school I am helping has a Meade 10” LX600 and I really do not see much difference other than the fork and the star guider. I also have a wedge and take astrophotography with my scope. I use a 6.3 focal reducer prior to the electric micro-focuser. A must for astrophotography to get the most field of view in. I should have gotten an German Equatorial mount and a smaller refactor scope for astrophotography. However, I have done some nice photos of Moon, planets and deep space using both eyepiece projection and mostly prime focus projection with my 10" Meade LX200GPS telescope.
