AT802 Fireboss Scooping Performance 2 0
This video show 3 examples of scooping, beginner mode, high performance mode, and poor performance.
If you run an organization or a fire agency, it is important to understand how an effective training program and a well established safety culture will affect results, not only with less incidents and accidents, but also with better performance
Exceptional performance is not opposed to safety; on the contrary, they go together. High-level piloting tends to be the result of a well-designed training program based on deliberate practice.
The quality of your training can be as important as the quantity of your training. The number of hours you have amassed is not as significant as what you did on those hours.
While regular practice might include mindless repetitions, deliberate practice requires focused attention and is conducted with the specific goal of improving performance, under a purposeful and systematic approach.
To conquer the porpoising beast, and ensure a safe and effective scooping process, I've put together several videos as part of a 10min read article.
It showcases valuable tips to fix the issues.
I hope you enjoy reading as much as I did putting it together!

Ready to get off the waves of porpoising and ride the waves of knowledge? Hold on tight, because with this video we are about to make a splash with a touch of humor on an important message. Today, I want to dive into the exhilarating world of amphibious scoopers, specifically the art of scooping water effectively with the AT802 Fireboss. To fully understand scooping and how to improve safety an...

Wingsuit BASE
มุมมอง 3942 ปีที่แล้ว
Wingsuit BASE is the trickiest, most challenging, and less forgiving scenario I have faced during my entire aviation career. After trying quite a few aerial disciplines, from a pilot's perspective, it feels something like... -An aerobatic glider (with the glide ratio of a brick) requiring constant energy management with nothing more than initial height and some small amounts of lift. -Being han...
Ultra-low BASE jump. Beach cave
มุมมอง 9482 ปีที่แล้ว
Most of my base-jumping career has been about chasing challenging projects and assessing unique spots that nobody had attempted before. It wouldn't pump my heart as much if it did not represent a mental or physical challenge and felt more of the same! Those ultra-low jumps were a big part of my life and taught me quite a bit about risk management and decision-making, whether in sports, aviation...

As technology improves, the trend is to focus on learning systems, procedures, and master sophisticated cockpit automation, sometimes just through simulation and theory. All those points are important, cost-effective, and will help us during the learning process, but as long as we are still required to perform manually reacting in a timely and precise manner, we should never bury basic skills, ...
Husky Float Plane Training
มุมมอง 5933 ปีที่แล้ว
Training in a light floatplane as the Husky is tremendous fun and transfer great to our #Fireboss operation. Although during #aerialfirefighting we are “water scoopers” and do not perform any sailing, docking, or beaching during our everyday functions, those maneuvers involve basic #floatplane skills we believe should be mastered no matter how experienced we are in other fields. One day we migh...

Visit with family to the F-11 museum at Skavsta Airport. Nice stop to get deep into Swedish Aviation history through their videos, real aircraft, and simulators. The SK-60 is a twin-engine jet used by the air force today for training. The cockpit of the simulator is real, with screen instruments, with about 4 meters in diameter and with a film projection of about 240 degrees. The simulator is c...

Idk who is more crazy yall or the people that do crop dusting. I live in an oilfield/farm region and ive had my rig rigged up over wells while theyre doing their thing and they ALWAY put on a show, definitely a different breed to do what yall do, stay safe blue skies

The AT802 is the same plane cropdusters fly. The Fire Boss version draws up water through the floats to fill the resevoir. I personally think the crop duster pilots are a little crazier. Google "cropduster near miss" for an exciting example.

that first drop, an uphill drop, made me nervous. i thought it was a big no no. but i guess situations are different worldwide. just looked to me he could have come from the other direction and made a safer down hill drop, it would have put him over the water with plenty of room on climbout. i was a firefighter in northern california and having talked to cal fire pilots over the years, they never did down slope drops, there were all kinds of reasons why, which i dont remember, but dude, ya scared me.. and yes i know you made it ok, i mean there wouldnt have been this video..lol

Are most of the fireboss pilots ex-military? Seems like very difficult flying. So much terrain. Updrafts from big fires. Lot of interfacing with water and then sudden mass dump. I cannot imagine how to execute all of it safely. Yeah you guys must be ex-military, neh?

What's the day to day of an aerial firefighter like? I can't imagine you are always on duty ready to jump into your 802? Are ther just one or two pilots who are paid to always be ready? Do you work other jobs or do you just fly fire fighting missions?
