Cal Jazz Choir

We are the Cal Jazz Choir, a student-run vocal jazz ensemble that performs an extensive array of a cappella jazz, including showtunes, fast bebop, ballads, bossa nova, and jazzified Cal songs. We draw our work from great jazz musicians such as Duke Ellington, Ella Fitzgerald, and Jon Hendricks. CJC sings student-arranged pieces, as well as repertoire from well-known vocal groups like The Real Group, The Manhattan Transfer, and The New York Voices. CJC prides itself on featuring both outstanding soloists and a cohesive ensemble sound. Our specialties include grooving bass lines, rich multipart harmonies, syncopated rhythms, and improvised scat solos.
