Mike Mitchell crazy drum solo in 13/16
Well, it's more like 13/4 if you follow the quarter note Greg Spero is playing. Anyways, download this video and slow it down to 50% -- you will be absolutely blown away by the creativity of the concepts he's playing at speed in an extremely difficult time signature all while still nailing each and every hit. Blaque Dynamite is one of one.

Maison Guidry demolishes yet another drum solo
มุมมอง 60K11 หลายเดือนก่อน
Maison Guidry's absurdly good phrasing drum solo over the Jonathan Scales Fourchestra tune "We Came Through the Storm". One of the most expressive and entertaining drummers alive today. Filmed at Triumph Brewery in Red Bank, NJ on 12/02/23.
Overplaying Carrtoon's "Spaceships", one unnecessary drum fill at a time
มุมมอง 659ปีที่แล้ว
Practicing to songs I love makes playing more enjoyable, so this is more of a proof of concept video than a musical performance (sorry Carrtoons). I wanted to try to expand on the concept of sweeps, which are usually a showmanship thing, and utilize them within call & response motifs in phrasing fills. For the first chop, sweeping from the crash to the snare gives the fill an explosive element ...
3:2 and 3:4 Polyrhythms as 16th Note Triplet Grooves
มุมมอง 1.2Kปีที่แล้ว
AKA, how to never get another gig as a drummer again... #MoreisMore #shorts Initially, I'm playing the 2 in my left foot (Dennis Chambers ostinato) and the 3 on my right hand. It's not a true 3:2 polyrhythm, but the illusion is there at slower speeds. In the second part, I play the 3 on the kick and the four (once again, not a true polyrhythm but an illusion) with both hands on the stacks.

Heard an incredible flip of this tune done by Beka Gochiashvilli and knew I had to try it. The "groove" is inspired by the one and only Blaque Dynamite. I was more so just practicing over this song and liked what I heard, so it's probably not the most musical. Still fun! Mixed by my friend David Korn.

Mike just casually demonstrating his infinite creativity. This solo is so rich with unique ideas that it's hard to even know where to start talking about it. He is truly one of the greats of our time. This clip was sent to me by a friend, taken from a Stanley Clarke gig.

Mike Mitchell Red Kit Drum Solo FULL TRANSCRIPTION
มุมมอง 37K3 ปีที่แล้ว
Quick transcription I did of the video that allowed me to say with confidence that Blaque Dynamite is the greatest drummer of all time (in my opinion, of course). This is him playing over the Spirit Fingers song "you" circa 2017. I left out the very beginning so that the transcription would make more sense with the song's form. I also just noticed one or two tiny mistakes, but honestly it's clo...

Great drumming with nice bandana!
OMG.
🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼🤙🏼
OMFG i want what he is having 🙂 what fire!
nuts~!
bro this is not 13/16. explain to me how it is?
sounds like 17/8 to me
Its 13/16 but spero is holding a quarter note down so it goes over the barline and the hits sound syncopated like a polyrhythm. It sounds like a polyrhythm in 3/4 that drops on 1 every 4 bars
😎Ja. So muss das sein👍.... Very nice, bro. And this, right after i woke up. 😀 . Beat is very powerful too.... Peace ✌️
🔥🔥🔥
Good stuff bro love the beats😊
That's some awesome ass playing right there, well done my friend.
What's your Instagram
kick sounds nice which head and which beater
Yea just set them sticks on down, cause you ain’t have to KILL it like that 🤣🤦🏻♂️
Incredible drumming, great music, AND comedy - absolutely love this!
His chops are so on fire that he melted his front tom away.

That's a beautiful piece❤
Amazing Playing really enjoyed it!
Sounds like Cobham, but in cut time. Well done, Sir.
awesome
what snare is this?
The snare he is playing is an Acoutin 1 of 1. I was talking to him after this show and I know he mentioned the material but I can’t remember at the moment. He allowed me to hold it and it was heavier than any snare drum I have ever held, which makes me think that it is a birch and or oak model.
@@nicholasfolchetti9637 thanks man
Good God! This Guy IS Killer!!
drumstick splinters at 1:34
1:14 What was that switch though 🤦♂️🤦♂️😮💨😮💨😮💨
Floating!!
what is that thing called thats laying on your high hat? I see this often
I don't get it.
Very impressive and satisfying to watch. What a great drummer. Love the setup too 🥁❤️
Boring
Mario kart soundtrack on steroids! 👏🏼😂🙏🏼✨
I really like the cool trick between 1:36-1:38 on the floor/base/snare.
One bad mother right there.
Wow! That’s some incredible playing. Very interesting sounds. I love the dynamics and composition and the chops don’t hurt either. 😂 Amazing.
Cool, does he djent tho?
More pls
Fuck
His hat actually sounded best
my goodness! what a spanking!
Insane.. nice work!
All those single strokes
Very impressively played had to watch three times. Reminds me of animal from the mumpets as hes crushing and puts the sticks down like the best drummer in the world because the statement has been made.
At 1:35 you see a piece of his stick fly off… You know he’s cookin’. Also love his setup. Great video
It sounds like he’s just playing random shit lol
anybody knows what snare it is?
World class
Lmao I love the way he checks his stick like its a neat rock he found while still playing those ghost notes.
