At first, it felt hard, but I learned that small steps can make a big difference. One day, I decided to take the initiative and change my life. I wanted to feel better, both physically and mentally. I started by thinking about hydration. I realized I needed to drink more water throughout the day. So, I decided to keep a bottle with me and sip water regularly. This simple change helped me feel more energetic. Next, I wanted to nurture my mind. I began to set aside time for reflection. Each evening, I sat quietly and thought about my day. I asked myself what I did well and what I could improve. This practice helped me visualize my goals. I wanted to be healthier and happier, and now I could see that clearly. To make my routine achievable, I decided to prioritize my health. I started exercising for just fifteen minutes each day. I chose activities I enjoyed, like walking and dancing. Gradually, I increased the time. Soon, I was exercising for thirty minutes! This improvement reinforced my motivation to keep going. I also focused on my cognitive health. I read books for fun and learned new things. I made sure to get enough sleep, too. I knew that rest was important for my brain. Building a healthy routine took time, but it was worth it. By taking small steps, I changed my life. Now, I feel happier and more balanced. I encourage everyone to start their own journey. Remember, it’s all about gradual changes and celebrating small victories! Useful Vocabulary and Expressions Before we move on to practicing our speaking skills, let’s first study some useful English words and expressions from the story we have just read to better our understanding of the language. "Hydration" refers to the process of providing enough water to the body to keep it healthy. Example: Drinking water throughout the day is important for proper hydration. "Reflection" means thinking carefully about something, often to understand it better or learn from it. Example: After a busy week, I take time for reflection to consider my goals and feelings. "Nurture" means to care for and encourage growth or development in someone or something. Example: Parents should nurture their children's talents to help them succeed. "Prioritize" means to decide what is most important and focus on that first. Example: I need to prioritize my studies to improve my grades this semester. "Visualize" means to form a mental image of something, helping to imagine it more clearly. Example: I like to visualize my goals to stay motivated and focused on achieving them. "Initiative" refers to the ability to take action without being prompted by others; it shows leadership and motivation. Example: She showed great initiative by starting a new project at work without anyone asking her to. "Cognitive" relates to mental processes such as thinking, learning, and remembering. Example: Reading regularly can improve cognitive skills and memory. "Achievable" means something that can be accomplished or attained with effort. Example: Setting realistic and achievable goals helps me stay motivated. "Gradual" describes something that happens slowly or in small steps over time. Example: The process of losing weight should be gradual to be healthy and sustainable. "Reinforce" means to strengthen or support an idea, behavior, or skill. I didn't know the difference between a latte and a cappuccino, or what "house special" meant. But over time, I learned a lot about coffee and how to order it confidently. I discovered that most coffee shops offer different sizes. Usually, they have small, medium, and large, but some places use fancy names like "tall," "grande," or "venti." I also learned about milk options. Besides regular milk, there's often soy milk, almond milk, and oat milk for those who prefer non-dairy choices. One day, I decided to try customizing my drink. I asked the barista if I could have a little extra shot of espresso in my latte. It made the coffee stronger, which I enjoyed. I also learned about different syrups and sweeteners to add flavor. Vanilla and caramel are my favorites. I found out about different roasts too. Light roast is milder, while dark roast has a stronger, sometimes bitter taste. Medium roast is a nice balance between the two. Cold brew became my go-to drink on hot days. It's less bitter than regular iced coffee and has a smooth aftertaste. Toppings were a fun discovery. Whipped cream, cinnamon, and chocolate drizzle can make a simple coffee feel like a treat. Sometimes, I treat myself to a cappuccino with a sprinkle of cocoa powder on top. I also learned about seasonal blends and special drinks that change throughout the year. These often have unique flavors and aromas that are fun to try.
