Hyperdrive doesn’t take you into a higher dimension. Han Solo even explained that without precise calculations, they could fly right through a star or too close to a supernova. I think it acts more like a warp drive, just with a less accurate name.
Let me explain it to you and most of your scientists will be quite upset and will feel small and negligible. Actually its about speed not only distance. 12 parsecs is distance. But for how long will be taken that distance? For a second? An hour or day or week? So its 12 parsecs per what? Per second? Per hour? Per month? Many times taxi drivers say "i am driving with 50 miles or 50 kilometers" without saying 50 miles per hour or 50 km per hour. Hyperdrive is just hyperjet engine. Imagine that millennium falcon has mass of a truck 🚛 and thrust levels of milion saturn 5 rockets combined. I always like to put the floppy disk vs 1 Tb microsd card analogy. No new laws of physics, no other dimensions, no dark 🌑 matter, no parallel universes... Simply better efficiency and power and speed. At lower size and form factor. At such speeds black holes can't catch you and ship drives clean through the black holes. Right through the center of the black holes and if you are near the black holes then get even extra thrust from the black holes. Only problem is if you hit 🎯 a star . Just like its said in the movie. So engines in star wars are simply electromechanical jet turbines. Light can't travel faster due to drag and resistance. Photons feel resistance and due to their low mass factor then lose momentum very fast. Which gets us to the question - how will decelerate that fast? How will stop almost instantly at such speeds? Inertia... Well simply inertia and momentum are zero. Even the lowest resistance in front of you gonna stop you instantly. You not have forward momentum at all. Recoil forces are absolute zero as well. If we accelerate helium party 🥳 balloon 🎈 and bowling 🎳 ball to 10 kph then the balloon 🎈 will stop instantly while the bowling 🎳 ball will roll over the road for quite a distance. And will accelerate even more if its downhill. While balloon 🎈 even if you kick it as hard as you can still will stop instantly after few meters. Even with less friction even if its downwards. So engines are simply electromechanical jet engines. But with quadrillion times more thrust and efficiency than Apollo/spacex style rockets. Black holes are simply black bowling 🎳 balls with huge mass factor. And they expell mass due to centrifugal force. They drag mass but also expell.

Came back to this clip for confirmation the Rise of Skywalker scene with light speed skipping is pure BS and should prove Disney disregarded Star Wars lore
Dude. At Disneyland my daughter and I sat in Han’s and Chewie’s seats on the Smugglers Run ride. I got to make the jump to light speed lowering the same levers that Han uses. Cream dream.
The music, the tension, the humor, and the dialogue were all top-notch. We learned about hyperspace and deflector shields (and their limitations) in a little over a minute, all in the midst of some heavy action.
Incredibly, the two effects shots at the end of this scene were done as ultra-cheap tech demos in 1975 and both stayed in the movie. The nascent ILM team thought they could use the new motion control cameras with their variable exposure speed to create a linear blur of bright particles dropped in front of the camera. They created a quick demo, showed it to George Lucas who said he loved it exactly as it was, and it stayed in the movie. As for the Falcon zipping off into the distance? That is a polaroid photo of the Falcon model shot from behind, put on a tripod and then filmed with the Dykstraflex camera system pulling backwards away from it. The whole look and feel of hyperspace jumps in Star Wars, created one afternoon by a bunch of young guys just trying a few cheap ideas out.
No Sci Fi franchise has come up with a better FTL jump since. Modern CGI has of course made the Star Wars Hyperspace jump more spectacular but it's still the same simple but extremely effective idea.
"I've forgotten how much I hate space travel" It was literally only a couple of days since the last time. How can you boast having such a vast database of languages and cultures when you can't even remember something from two days ago
I can't go to lightspeed with a Wookie by my side. But I did used to go all over with a Polish sheepdog - and just like Han understands Chewie, I understood my Barney! xxx Barney's been one with the Force for nearly twenty years now, but his Jedi Ghost is with me. I'm Obi Wan to speakers of English as a second language! That's not a space station, that's the final moon of Ramadan in Doha, Qatar, lol ! May the Force be with you, always !
Aircraft carriers can make sharper turns than an ISD. The point is to get the Imperials over confident. Gosh, didn't you read the companion novel before the screening?
Dear all the salty neckbeards claiming “The Last Jedi makes no sense, you can’t use lightspeed like that”, this scene from the original star wars film proves you wrong. But youll ignore the evidence, wont you?

NOT ONLY A FINANCIAL ADVISOR ! & MASTER CHIEF OF SPACE FORCE ! WHO KNEW CHEWY HAD SKILLS TO EVADE BIDENOMIC BACK TAXES !$IMP FOR G.I. JOE !
0:15 I love the sound effects of the burning engines here
I remember the first time I saw this hyperspace jump in 1977, and it is still impressive now as it was then.
I've seen the "making of" so many times now that this scene has lost its magic, and with the effects we have today this just looks so fake now.

Why are stars flying by?
Han calling Luke boy is the funniest and most badass thing in this movie.
Computer hidden figs&'....... Alpha centauri to pluto back to earth/endor to plaeides and find a new mars/uranus. Maybe
Camera went into hyperspace for a min😂

Star field anyone
I prefer the original version to remastered version
Bruh
I want this exact sequence of sounds to play as I accelerate in my tesla

Saw it in the theater (sold out) back in 1977. Everyone cheered watching this scene.
Same. No two seats together, I had to sit on my bf's lap in an isle seat. First made sure the guy behind me could see the screen.

After that scene I knew I was watching a once in a lifetime movie!!
1:19 bad ADR?
And that changed cinema forever.
This is the 2006 gout version or nah ?
Must’ve been quite a thing back 77’
It's like two smiles finally meeting....
Still gives me goosebumps to this day!
Listing lazily to the left.... wow, that guy knows some maneuvers!!
He's listing lazily to the left!
Wow, that guy knows some maneuvers!! Go left, go left!! Damn you, Seth McFarlane

That my friends is some quality ass Science Fiction; amirite?
One of the most satisfying scenes ever watched.

That’s so cool, I just wanted you to know how great it was to read that
This is the comment I came looking for. I want to know exactly how they created that shot. Thank you

Threepio is overly-dramatic
I bought a legacy falcon today and when it played these lines i lost it

Obviously he didn't know that spinning is a good trick.
"I know, I'll fly straight forward! They'll never expect it! Not in a million years!"
Family Guy actually called this out in Blue Harvest

Someone saw the family guy remake 😂
How good is these movies

Okay I'll bite, The Last Jedi does make no sense and has so many plot holes I could strain rice with it.
