This is completely false and misleading, smoke detectors almost exclusively use Am-241 and are very much not dangerous. They emit alpha and gamma rays, not beta particles. (the only exception I can think of is really old industrial ones which used Ra-226 were somewhat dangerous but had clear warnings and are not something you just stumble upon) Also the ionization does not create a current itself, it introduces charged particles in the air, which form a current only because a voltage is placed across the detector. No current is created when alpha particles (not beta particles!) ionize the air until voltage is applied.

lead ammo is banned in waterfowl hunting and in national forests I Believe, however steel ammo will ruin a fire arm barrel. In shot gunz the barrels are protected by the plastic wad that holds the shot until it leaves the barrel thus keeping it in good shape and long life.
