In this video, I continue the re-assembly by setting the timing and fitting new gaskets and the rocker cover. How many liters of oil for Vx 1100 engine?
Really excellent video. I think it's probably shown me that I should ask a pro to service my outboard however. I used a 50:1 2 stroke mix (rather than 100:1), and now think I have to clean sparkplug and carb to get the motor going again. Your skill level is way above mine. Thanks.
Thank you! 50:1 is okay also if the engine is older as it can give extra lubrication. It can soot up the sparks though. The carb may need cleaning from other dirt entering the fuel system. Thanks!
Hello, "Ewan Milo Kinmonth Duerden" I was analyzing your channel and saw that in your channel have some problem, That's why your channel is not much growing and not getting much engagement, If you can solve these problems, Your channel will grow like a storm. If you tell I can tell these problems. Where can I tell? Here or ig or where?
🔥
Look awesome thanks for this clean clean video / and instructions I have 2007 FXHO is almost the same exactly 👍
You're Welcome, thanks!
Good video “” thanks you “” can you post parts numbers or link from parts “ any other description like torque specifications in pounds Great great video
Sorry I cant, there are too many parts in this build to do so. Use google to convert to foot pounds I use Metric here in Europe. Thanks for your comment.

Is it necessary? Wonder how many ski seat came off ?
Top lad. Thanks!
Can't wait for the next vids! Great work gentlemen. 👏🏼

Side filter intake ??? and gaskets when disassembling the fuel pump. Man, you know nothing about this carburetor do you.
I later changed the luggage straps for more durable and stronger buckle seat straps as I was using my ski in bigger surf. If you get stronger buckles on the straps they would do the same job. Alternatively make your own straps with webbing and heavy duty buckles.
Forgot to say the reason I was here was that my Malta wouldn't start after winter storage and checked to see if I'd missed something. After some fiddling it was clear the float needle didn't move, but after a good rub with a cotton bud and carb cleaner liquid on the needle's sides and inside the needle cylinder, it moved freely again and all was well. Btw, I noticed my float sits at quite an angle and not around 90º to the jets as I was expecting and what it looks like from this video, but that's obviously how it's supposed to be as it runs perfectly. Maybe it's an earlier or later model with different specs. I will also not run the engine out of fuel again as I did winterizing this time, as the corrosion / crud issue jamming my float needle was maybe because it was sitting dry. I've heard somewhere one could run it extra oil rich for the last run before winter storage so maybe the idea is to everything a good coating of oil to prevent situations like stuck needle.
Thanks for a good tutorial. I might add that interdental brushes are great for clearing the smallest jets holes (you won't believe it but they'll go in). And it's a 3hp, not 2. There's also a filter in the tank that could be clogged if not enough power (very rare). Very good engine this. Easy to pull and super reliable. No wonder Yamaha gave it a name and not just a number.
Great points, my mistake on the title. Thanks for your comment! This outboard is a gem.
Great tutorial , thank you
Liked the vid. Are these not 3 hp and 70cc?
Their cost is probably under $1 for each cover
Great video of a great outboard, smooth and always with an easy starting
Thanks for your precise description. That helps alot. Great tutorial bro…
But u gotta switch it out

How would the engine run, say if I were to forget to put that bung in over the pilot jet? 👀 would it stall with any more than a tickle on the throttle?
Thank you, just rebooted my own Malta with your tutorial!!
That's exactly why I made this video! Thank you!
Perfect video 👌🏽 I've just picked up one of these engines, it's leaking fuel quite badly when the throttle is opened from the carb area. It's been sat dry for a while, but runs pretty sweet other than the leak 😬
You solved the problem?
one query - Should you not be hitting those plastic sleeves with a heat gun? - Thanks for this helpful vid.
These are not heatshrink, they are rubber and come tight from the factory.
@@ewan12kd Ha, i figured that out about 1 year ago as i burned one!
Cheers for that, I have the same engine. Love it, was out for a few hours the other day. Ran over a bit of seaweed and the engine was not running properly then it stopped. Checked the impeller yesterday found a piece of the old impeller blade in the water intake. Thought it was it. No, still dieing when I give it throttle. I think I will have a go at the carburettor after watching. ✌️👍
Hey Kevin did it work I have had the exact same issue
@@jakecaldwell6103 just seeing your comment Jake, I went and got carburetor cleaned took carb off and cleaned everything and the Jets real good blowing it right into the Jets. That did the trick.
Ho un problema con questo motore non prende i giri è come se fosse strozzato e quindi manca di potenza ho pulito il carburatore ma è ancora uguale
I have your problem are you problem finished?
Did you fix it? my has the same problem
Purtroppo no lo porterò in un centro assistenza
I have the same issue
There's a filter inside the tank that might be clogged. Also sometimes you need to use brushes on the jets and not just spray to get rid of buildup.
This was great, thank you!
Still a mad bastard. Fair play
have you done a tutorial of replacing the impeller?
not yet but if I get time and more people request it I can
Never use petrol to light a bbq! The fuel vapours are dangerous and petrol causes cancer! Why do you want petrol fumes on your food? Also you are lighting an open flame next to dry ferns!
More to say, I tried CDI module from other engine of similar capacity and type but from quad/bike, same wiring/connectors and... it works! See a vid on my channel.
Brain dead
attach it to a screw
That's what I do now, thanks for the comment!
Yeah it's pretty incredible that they leave out an essential part like that

Honestly this is exactly why I uploaded it. I couldn't find a video on it so when I figured it out I made a video. Originally for my friend so he could do it and now on TH-cam also. Your comment has just single handedly justified the whole process I'm so glad I could help. You are very welcome!
