Hello. Thanks for this video. Mine is beeping. It says water zero days and call for service. I do call for service or I don’t and just reset the alarm?
This is so cool! I've always found stuff like this interesting, so I'm happy this ended up in my recommendations

That's a lot of angry pixies. Interesting thing is I don't think the part you see is the actual switch it's more of a visual indicator, it does carry some current, but the actual switch is in a vacuum or oil below it. At least I think that's how it works.
A little late, but what is being shown is the actual disconnecting switch. All that's below is the structure supporting the switch and the operating mechanism. There do exist switches where the electrical contacts are insulated in oil, but the whole point is that the contacts are submerged in a higher-than-air insulating medium.
Nice
Nice
Not a switch, but a disconnector. This thing can't switch, but ensure a safe disconnection after switching.
Not impressive. I get more action from a 9v battery and a piece of aluminum foil. who's here because youtube is a jerk? In 2021?
Ha ha ha..
Minor arc, load is disconnected
PERFECT SWICTCH FOR HOME !!!!! IDEALS FOR MICROWAWE DOMESTIC !!!!!!!!!! VERY HIGHT POWER IDEAL FOR VEICLE ELECTRIC !!!!! NO PRANK
Shouldn't the circuit be de-energized BEFORE opening or closing the switches?
Ummm. What do you use to energise the circuit? Another switch? I suppose you could use a explosive disconnect but then you need to replace the fuse that you have blown up.
The circuit breaker has already been opened. This disconnector will be used for making physical isolations. The arcing is probably stored energy in the busbar
This is just arcing of the remaining capacity in the short switched off line. A disconnector can't handle any load, but ensures safe insulation levels for working in a specific section.
Shocking
My late uncle David spent his last working years a distribution engineer for the UK Midlands Electricity Board. There was always something boyish about him and I know he bloody loved his job. Watching this, it all makes sense :-)
Did his job do him in? Also I'm sorry for your loss.
@@charadremur333 Thank you for the kind thought Chara. In fact my uncle took early retirement and enjoyed many happy years restoring motorbikes, working his ham radio rig and holidaying with his wife, daughter and grandchildren :-)
Nobody literally nobody Le TH-cam recommendations to me watch arc watch this fuckin acr....😠
Excellent. 💙 T.E.N.
arch horns sure keep that to a minimum
What is that for? Why is it being disconnected and reconnected in all these videos?
Screw that, those guys deserve their paycheck.
Glad I’m not there. That’s enough energy to teleport you 4 light years away. Make you dissapear like a woodpecker.
How do woodpeckers disappear? Is it special? All the ones I've seen just fly away like regular birds.
@@soaringvulture when zapped by mega voltage, they dissapear in a puff of smoke!
This is shit! Watch th-cam.com/video/PXiOQCRiSp0/w-d-xo.html to see this switch IN ACTION!
compared to the arc vids I saw earlier this one eh
Shouldn't those arcing horns be making better contact so there is no arcing in the main contacts as they roll out? I know it's not going to damage it per se', but the horns aren't doing shit, they weren't even touching.
Believe it or not, they do touch the base rod all the way till the arc breaks. They do exactly as they are designed. The arc should always break on the horn to rod, not switch arm to jaw. Great observation though, 👍
@@willclark1038 Thanks, I work in substations too. I wouldn't expect so much arcing if they were touching and usually you'd see the rod move a little as it moved out or in. Plus when the switch closes you can see the arcing between the horn and the rod on that middle phase, bus side. Anyway, not looking to argue, cool to see more substation videos on TH-cam. Work safe and post some more substation videos...
@@inothome yes sir, will do.
That was not cool, it is very dangerous to open or close the disconnector when the grid is online. Specially when when the grid is more than 110Kv.
😂.... There was no load on that switch. We had just replaced it and that was the new switch. We had to make sure it operated correctly before putting load on it.
If there was no load on the switch, than where the arc comes from ??
@@majidahamdi41 the switch was energized, but there was no load.
@@willclark1038 thank you Clark.

3 requirements of a legendary video: 1. short title 2. under a minute 3. old
So im gonna leave this here right before this reach a million views. See you after a decade.
Just wait for this to pop up in everyone's recommended video list like two years down the line. Pucker up for comments like: "WHO'S WATCHING THIS IN 20XX?" Or "Less than 60 seconds long = epic" Or some other generic TH-cam comment like that. With that out of the way, this was pretty neat.
😂.... Nice, never thought about that
2021. Still using it.
😂😂😂 omg great prediction.
Funny how something so short can be called "epic" when poets from a couple centuries past were writing poems about fallen heroes, courageous leaders, or powerful gods. Those poems, which could be thousands of lines long and filled with 15-syllable sentences, were called "epic."

@@aswar123warren3 yes sir, it is..... Where are you from? Demographics do mean alot, so if you are in a heavily populated area, you can do better close to home. If you are in a rural area, you may have to drive a bit. My question to you would be, are you willing to drive 1-2 hrs for a $10k + paycheck?
