Closing message and My Man - Lea Michele in Funny Girl
The final performance of the hit broadway revival of Funny Girl starring Lea Michele, Ramin Karimloo, Jared Grimes, and Tovah Feldshuh.
Lea Michele as Fanny Brice gave her closing message and sang “My Man”- which was sang by Barbra Streisand on her final performance in the original production or Funny Girl on broadway, and was also featured in the 1968 Funny Girl movie. The same song was covered by Michele as Rachel Berry in the hit TV series Glee.
“My Man,” which includes lyrics from an original performed by Fanny Brice, the pioneering Jewish entertainer whose life is the basis for the musical.

I'm sorry but this is too fast and she's a bit pitchy.
Barbra and Lea have similar vocals, except that Barbra has more powerfull vocal.
God its BLOODY AWFUL...PAINFUL....
What a Lier, Phony Lier. Trash
Cory is all smiles from heaven.
You are amazing Lea!!!!
Danas q between tomby and gay..parehas magpaligaya na di magawa ng totoong kababaihang me kaartehan sa buhay
I’m playfully jealous for those who saw Lea in the show! But now that I’ve seen the touring version, I prefer My Man as the finale over the reprise of Don’t Rain On My Parade!
This is insane
She’s the best she has a really good voice 😍😍😍😍
I saw her live a couple months ago on Broadway and it was actually insane. She and the rest of the cast were so talented.
How am I just seeing this!!! Omg that’s my favorite song of her and the fact that she still sings it the same way Mind blowing
She can sing this in her sleep... a ma zing
Oh boy, the comparison is inevitable. And seeing this, you realize why Barbra became the legend that she is. I like Lea too. But she tries too hard. Barbra never tried hard at all. It just flows from her, naturally. That kind of grace only happens once in history. Barbra is not just a legend : she is an historic figure, like Cleopatra or Maria Callas. She is a goddess.
since when is it a bad thing to try "too hard"
I agree completely. LM can’t hold a candle to Barbra.
LM is very good...but this song especially, is hard to cover because Barbra pretty much owns it. LM is using her phrasing and it's a great rendition but just falls short for me.
Slightly rushed, but incredible.
THIS NEEDED TO HAPPEN
the voice control of this little woman is amazing! even if she's all on tears she can clearly hit that note with all her chest. JUST AMAZING!
Terrible choice to try to be a carbon copy.
i think about Cory when she sings this song 😭
Sorry--screeching isn't belting.
@@mssabrinamillyThey're just being mean because of her past
Como se merecia esto lea 🤍 La adoro Su talento tiene que ser aun más reconocido
Wow. She performed.
I am too old to let this pass as OK--- she is an adequate singer, but the material is out of her range. The audience must be full of people who don't remember Streisand.
It’s scary how standards have fallen. This version is definitely bargain basement in comparison to Streisand!
@@steventownsley6763 You would not believe the hate I got for that comment.... standards HAVE fallen
Agreed!
cory was looking down watching her play this role and so proud of her
she may be difficult but boy can she sing. BRAVA 🗣🤚🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Thank you Kurt Hummel 🙂
Meh.
What I really dislike is how everyone has made "Funny Girl" about the Brooklyn Brat who Roared when it's the biography of one of the best comics to ever set foot on the stage of the New Amsterdam Theater. This one not only supports that view, but she pushes it forward. It pisses me off.
I doooooo adore this woman with all the hate she gets she was able to do something this amazing. I love her so much
It was always my dream to see Funny Girl on Broadway and we flew from England to see Lea blow the roof off!
Lea Michele is proof that people can change and grow,I'm proud of her for learning from her past actions and became a better person
I stopped watching Glee after Season 3 when it was considered The Rachael Show. But I always thought she had that much of a voice.
@@manuelorozco7760 I understand that stance but I can't not judge you for it 😂 I loved the show and I felt the need to stick with it till the end, despite all the messiness that ensued, and I think I got my payoff. I liked the ending. It sort of went full circle in the end in a way, by sticking to its guns. My opinion is somewhat unpopular but I fiercely defend it 😂
@@nahuelma97 That’s fair enough at least
She definitely was a fine choice to play Fanny Brice. She does have a graet voice.
This was amazing. I don’t care what her little haters have to say. If any of you armchair critics think you can do better than please, by all means, show us.
It was amazing seeing Lea and Funny Girl.
her vocal man...even better in Funny Girl... Talented
I wish that person in the front published their video, they seem to have gotten an amazing angle.
I saw the show this summer. It was fantastic. Lea and Tovah killed it. It was a honor to see them both.
Ffs Lea ain’t that special if it wasn’t for her glee character having an obsession she wouldn’t have been cast, singing talent or into, they knew glee fans would fill the seats because they didn’t wanna bomb I still think she was doing sneaky stuff with the producers while beanie was in the role, thank god it’s over
I totally agree but you can’t deny the fact that she did phenomenal in the role.
🤔 *Promosm*
she may be difficult, but boy, she can sing!!! <3
Thank you Kurt Hummel 🙂
I heard she’s a lot better now
All of the screaming reminds me of a high school football game. Absolutely beyond the pale.
She quoted Glee!!
Have you noticed that audience enthusiasm at Bway these days is screaming and whooping like it’s a high school production?
Luckily I’ve been in better audiences that understand proper theatre etiquette
Glad she got her dream, but honestly, for my money, the next best voice, after Barbra, to sing these songs, is the overlooked Linda Eder. Now SHE has some chops on a par with Stteisand.
Let her sing the damn song without the constant whooping in between. These audiences are ruining Broadway and increasingly the West End. It’s not an American Idol talent show.
Glad to read this, I was thinking that such an annoying behaviour was 'normal' for Broadway's today standard.
There are two good reason she's so adored. Talent and heart. Huge in both. We are privileged to experience this.
Lea Michele is such a talent. She has devoted her life to the pursuit of this art. It is great to see her recognized for saving this production while she also credits everyone else.
Cory would’ve been proud 😢. I also wish for a Funny Girl film adaptation remake. I also hope she gets cast as Franny Brice in the film.
I won’t oppose if it does happen. But if Idina aka Shelby was in her early 30’s during her Wicked phase, I would die to see her as Fanny.
I know people many dislike lea but I’ve gotta give it she can sing my man like it’s her song part from babra and proves all the haters wrong causes she literally living her dream from a little girl and not many people get there dream , IF THERE A REMAKE MOVIE I WANT LEA TO PLAY FANNY BRICE !!
Her singing was the one redeemable aspect of her as Rachael. But I won’t oppose a remake with her as Fanny as long as passion translates into her performance.
So happy she finally got to sing “My Man” on Broadway. She fucking slays that song. I wish it would have been added to her version of the show, but happy she got this moment on the final night, at least
I agree. Like Kurt said in Glee she may be difficult but damn can she sing.
Is that language necessary?
yes.@@artistphx
@@artistphx seeing I’m an adult I’ll speak how I like
That was my top song of hers on Glee. She owned that song.
Is it just me or is she really off pitch in a bunch of places? Can't say I enjoyed this....
She was. I’m assuming this number wasn’t well rehearsed.
It is not for enjoying as a number but a added bonus.. only in this finale.. not like other numbers
Probably the emotion of that moment!
for me it’s not so much the pitch that’s the issue as much as the timing is. it feels very rushed and sloppy. i wished they would’ve stuck to the original tempo
She was very emotional. I reckon she had done amazinggggg!!
And that’s how you close a Broadway show!
