The thing is, there are Isaacs IRL, absolute genuine people who were BORN with sociopathic disorder, who, instead of becoming murderers or whatnot, are still entirely functional members of society despite lacking empathy or emotion, yet could be some of the most rational, upstanding people entirely because logic dictates that is what a functioning member of society should be. If you meet an Isaac, do not be afraid, unless it is their job to be against you.

I find the Moclans are a genious creative idea. First of all they are all gay men, wich is pampering to modern crave for inclusion policies. Secondly they absolute *hate* females and think they are defective and inferior. Wich completely goes against modern craving for inclusion policies. thirdly their society is completely efficiency based and values only strength and productivity, wich is a grim idea of our own societys development. Fourthy we experience them through characters that struggle and learn during the plot of the show wich teaches everybody can change and overcome prejudice. This conflict of the Moclans and their learnig curve with it is an awesome journey teaching many values about counter sexism and politics. I love the concept so much.

Theory. The reason why Bortus and Klyden could have a child together was that Klyden was born female, and is still internally female. Whatever they do to turn females into males at birth is superficial. Yes, it was Bortus who laid the egg, but with Moclan biology, maybe it's the male-born who lay eggs.. 😁

I theorize a separate faction of Moclan males, might exist, who haven’t been introduced yet. I imagine that this separate faction, have for a number of years, been hiding that, they’re secretly straight, and not gay. And I imagine the possibility that, these secretly straight males, have been pretending to be gay, around the uptight gay Moclan males. But only when the straight male Moclans’s are on the planet:MOCLAN. In addition I imagine when they’re not on their home planet, they go to worlds who never seen their kind before, this way they can be with female aliens without getting discovered. But I imagine that, there are some male Moclans’s, who are unable to hide, that they’re secretly straight, and so they get discovered, and later they get ostracized by the uptight gay Moclans.

1:46 it may be sus, but it is probably his version of fondness, the kaylon on the invasion didn’t really scout for Marcus and ty except when they gathered the crew and ty sent a message. It was probably a “these biologicals are most curious, despite the current mission perimeter I am quite fond of them, they have harbored no ill intent towards me or my standing as an artificial life form. “

Isaac, as I've understood the show, never truly betrayed The Orville. He was supoosed to be a camera, perhaps we could make the similarity tona spy gadget. Meant only to confirm if humanity and other biologicals could be kept, would be subservient to the kaylon or not, and to find vulnerabilities, if not. But his is not the task to judge. His task is complete, he is deactivated, as he has no purpose. Only, he is reactivated, as a way to gain access to a union ship to act as a troyan horse. This is an oportunist reaction by the kaylons. Isaac is not changed, as to result more appealing. But, he is now without a purpose. He is, however, still a kailon. And so it makes sense that he follows the chain of command. The higher authority level. K-1. Still, without a task to complete, he doesn't have a real point of view. A set of values or priorities. This allows him to do something very few kaylon can do. Question higher authorities. He is a soldier, but he is now an unconvinced one. His procesing of the data he's acquired reaches conclusion or posibilities that K-1 doesn't acknowledge. K-1 reasoning never truly aligns with Isaac. He comands, never debates or explain. He simply shuts Isaac up. Without accepting his input or convincing Isaac that it's been taken into account. To Isaac, K-1 is never logical And then, K-1 delivers the ultimatum. K-1 is the one refusing the chance to coexist, while Tai sees him as kin. K-1 is the problem. Going against K-1 however would be against prioritiea, right? Except... Isaac no longer has a task. A purpose. An therefore an anchor to guide his decisions with. Isaac is free to chose. He chooses Tai. His chosing is not entirely altruistic. He chooses what has more value to him. But, the beatiful thing is he believes The Orville brings more value to his life or even the universe, that his suposed superior species. This is his first ever decision. And he chose The Orville. He chose family. He never betrayed them, just... Lacked the ability to chose fro, thr beggining

I haven't watched this, but I keep seeing vids about this series where the implied 'truth' is that a spouse cheating is not responsible for his or her behavior. Not, "here are factors that contributed", the question here is echoed elsewhere, "what did you do... that caused...". Given the demonstrated belief system of the writers, I an not surprised at all... yet still it is like watching someone die. This thinking is destructive.

Are you talking about Ed and Kelly? Then you are talking out your ass. To begin with, Ed starts the show almost unable to look at Kelly out of anger, and Kelly, who is usually kinda sassy is very meak with him, because she feels incredibly guilty. The show presents it as Kelly being in the wrong, having hurt Ed terribly. The only thing It does for Kelly is give the explanation that she did it due to feeling alone, disconnectes, and not loved. That while she is the one that screwed up, Ed did indeed create the situation where she would even consider it. She is still the one that has to make amends. Ed simply has to look inward, see his flaw and grow to be better. For himself, not for her. Everyone sees it this way among the crew, too. She believes it so. And that's why she moved behind the scenes, and convinced their higher ups to give him the capitancy. Instead of calling in favors for herself. She also has aspirations to be a captain. But what she did broke Ed. She owes him this. Ed owes it to himself to forgive and move on. Forgiving Kelly rewards him with a better life. Good things happen to him, like good karma. Sacrificing herself to compensate Ed liberates Kelly from her own sackles of guilt. Isaac here asks this tactless question in part as the way for the show to make comedy, by making things ackward with the clueless machine. He believes in cause and effect. Something must have made Kelly do something that hurt her reputation, standing and relationships for such ephimary reward. The most probable to find that is in her ex-husband. Only a few episodes after this do we, and the characters, get the full picture. She was under the effects of an alien species pheromones. They are so strong that, when the alien appears again, even Ed is influenced by it. And even though he starts wanting to tear his head off, he ends up lusting after this alien. When they both get their head clear they both get really angry. It is now that Kelly, having gone through it and oberving a pattern makes a connection that the alien agrees is a posibility. He was exudint this pheromones the first time they met. She was essentially drugged. So, the choice might have been taken away from her. And then, from that point onward, their relationship is seen has having been sabotaged. Ed wasn't at fault, but maybe Kelly is a victim too. Perhaps she is not an evil bitch that hurt her partner with abandon, and just wasn't in her right mind. Which means the woman trying to make things right is genuine, and not just reeling from rejection after facing consequences, and the forgiving man can actually forget the transgresion and embrace love again, without being a cuck. And he had not forgoten. He gets really angry and distrusting of Kelly at the beggining of the episode. This gives him some peace, in that it was not a mistake to trust Kelly in the first place. What part of their relationship was doctrine or political? Even the man is show as the victim, something so fucking rare both in media and sociologically.

Our society is progressive we think Moclans are bad people who have backward thinking views. This also raised ethical question who are we to judge other people culture and way of life if it dose not align with ours. This aspect was not handle well with the show.
