I bought their boonie hat some months ago when it was priced at around $65. Upon receiving the hat I felt like I got scammed, its just a cheap chinese hat that is badly sewn. The hat is now $91...what a scummy company. Save yourself the money and buy the boonie hat from Crye Precision, its $55 and made in the USA with USA materials. Never buying anything from that company again. This company is for mall ninjas

I bought a t shirt from them and at first i thought it was great ! Thrn it shrunk in thr wash and the fit was all horrible. Im tempted to try out some of there other gear, but damn its expensive 🫰.

I agree with most of what you say but TD kit has and will dip in quality as they open up to a more varied catalog of products. Same as Rab was so much higher quality until it became a high street necessity. I have lots of TD kit and find the only thing that has seriously had me questioning the brand is the cotton T-shirts. All have shrunk or become mid shaped. No bother just sold on super cheap. All other stuff has been brilliant, mantra fleece, 72hr merino t shirts great for travelling, beanies, caps all fantastic. Just ordered the Ithax to replace a hagloffs jacket so will see how that performs.

I have Arcteryx and TD and for some of the higher end gear, the prices are comparable…..but TD pisses on Arcteryx with quality

You say that you can get other brands for cheaper. Fair play but you see them brands day in day out where with thrudark its rare to see about. Most people leave negative reviews cos they are jealous. Ive got a few thrudark products and quality is top notch.

I’ve always worn Engelbert Strauss German workwear for work in the Building Trade but recently bought a Heritech fleece and it’s so much warmer! Wife just bought me another in a different colour and made my Christmas!! I recently wore my original on a Ferry in Shite weather on the way to Normandy for work and boy was it so warm with just a T -Shirt underneath. I camped overnight at Ranville War Cemetery near Pegasus Bridge (Sword Beach) in my VW Transporter and was so Warm overnight. Gonna order more stuff soon. Ex Bootie here so know what I’m on about. Thrudark = Hoofin!!!

I’ve just bought a Thrudark Shroud (and am eagerly awaiting delivery) and don’t think it was that pricey at £260 as I’ve spent more on way less functional gear. I like your transparency mate! Like you, the military aesthetic appeals to me but I want clothing that’s got a genuine heritage. The fact Thrudark is founded and run by former UK SF guys means their gear is well sourced/researched. If the Shroud is as good quality as it seemed on the website I’ll probably buy some other stuff from the brand.

The people who buy this overpriced clothing also have a watch that is to big for there wrist just in case they have to go on a mission to the corner shop for some milk

I love the brand and its top quality.I wear my kit all the time.Nowadays I wear my Engage Jackets outdoors and at home wear my Black Ops jumper and Phalanx as well as some Insignia T-shirts. As you said and I’m the same, I have various outdoor jackets from Rab through to North Face and Berghaus but my go to kit is always Thrudark. Mark 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿🤙

One of the good things about Gen Z. But these is still not so common, I hope it gets more common though (selfishly around my time and especially in our place).

Can't underestimate the social media and IG effect either. When your life is constantly curated for an audience much greater than at any time in history, Gen Z and Gen Alpha have grown up with the truism that appearance is everything to getting past social gates.

I'm not Gen Z but running has helped my mental health massively. So completely agree, a great news story!

I commented on your last video……and I have to say, my view of Thrudark has improved (not that it was particularly negative in the first place). It’s taken a bit of time, quite a few trips to the post office (annoying but their returns process is really pretty good) to circumvent their occasionally odd sizing and I’ve ended up with some articles of clothing that I’m really fond of. My opinion of the trousers has improved massively, and while I can’t comment on their durability yet, I’ve grown to love the cut and fit, though still wish they had a couple more pockets. I don’t truly get why some people are so hung up on what others spend their money on but I’m old enough now that I’ll be damned if I’m going to let others opinions colour my view of things I like. There’s far worse things going on in the world to be concerned with internet-stranger’s disposable spending habits. Regarding quality, I’ve not found any issues and am genuinely impressed with virtually of it. I question their design and sizing choices on some things, but not everything is for everyone.

Their black Friday sales.. over 300 pound for a pair of trousers, 500+ for a jacket.. 40 quid for a pair of socks ..😅 It's the clothes of choice for Walter Mittys

After some very disappointing customer service experiences with Arcteryx, I moved over to using Thrudark gear. Not looking back .

Got a fair bit of thrudark love it all but did recently order a fleece that i returned just was not anywhere near worth the price tag I could have literally bought a fleece for less than half the price so was disappointed with that one but the rest I have is excellent

Hey mate, I'm an Aussie and am being coached by someone who wears TD, It for sure looks cool. I am going to enter with the Force Active cap, Obsidian Black cap and a white and a black pair of their tech socks.. Would you say their accessories are just as good? I also don't like Adidas running shoes..their Boston 11 didn't gel with me at all. Moved on to Asics and find them much more to my liking. I get whatever is cheapest online, usually last year's model in the most horrific colour.

I have found Hoka to be sensational trainers and now they’re into the hiking boots which are also fantastic. The soles wear out a little too quickly but no shoe matches them for comfort for me

Thanks for the video. I started a marathon training block..so mostly zone-2 for me at the moment. The post 30k/20mi section is just brutal, I need to train more for that. Will you be doing Manchester again?

I've got an original raid jacket, so 4 years old. I renew the dwr with grangers wash every year and it's just as good as the day I got it, engage jacket every winter with out fail is the go to. I do feel the quality is changing tho recently unfortunately. The bigger the brand has got, the less the quality assurance is, in my opinion.

Great review. My collection started with the Phalanx fleece a few years ago and it's grown since then. I have a range of outdoor gear I use when hiking/camping in North Wales and it's been great, certainly kept me warm during the cold months. Then i use the baselayer and Veles jacket when trail running/training. I have a few t-shirts and a couple of jumpers that I wear to the office as well. I think the gear is expensive but most of it is quality gear. The only things that haven't lived up to the jobs have been the gym/mtb shorts. I do a lot of Obstacle Runs and I ripped each of the shorts i bought on at two separate events, if a cheap pair of Slazenger shorts can withstand an OCR then why can't TD's 🙂That's when the expensive price really did annoy me. Like yourself I keep going back as the gear good, mostly don't see much of it around where i live and you can wear it for everyday.

I've bought quite a few items from TD over the years, some of which have been brilliant and others not so much... Painful as the high prices are, I've always justified it based on the high quality and the fact that it does look super cool. However, I recently had a poor customer service experience and that broke the camel's back for me. At that price point I expected better. There are many top notch brands out there at a lower cost. I won't be supporting TD again.

I’ve got a lot of there kit, however I had the expedition Parka water proof £1200 and he leaked in the both arms. Had it replaced and the same thing happened. Imagine wearing it on an expedition getting soaked and then trying to dry it out in a tent! It took me 8hrs to dry it with the central heating! When people say it’s amazing kit it probably is for hanging around in but is it really Arric / mountain kit I’m not so sure but I’ll be testing it out in the real mountains in 2025

T shirts are shit so thin and the neck line stretches.

Whilst the quality may be good, the only people buying this are depressed middle-aged men in loveless marriages, using it on a dog walk.

I love the kit,the ethos and the SF association but I try and make my purchases when sales are on and I ask for vouchers for Crimbo and birthdays.I do think the kit is expensive but generally you get what you pay for and some items are much better value for money than others in my opinion.

Got an engage jacket new for 175 in a certain shopping website! I can justify that much so all I would say is if you won’t pay it full price there are other ways to get a much fairer deal! I used to wonder whether shopping in these platforms was a good thing ! Now, I can’t think of anything better than paying another Joe instead of a company that make more than enough!
