THE MONSTER OF GLAMIS
SIGNALFM999
www.unidentifiedsignal.com/
“If you could even guess the nature of this castle’s secret,” said Claude Bowes-Lyon, 13th Earl of Strathmore, “you would get down on your knees and thank God it was not yours.”
That awful secret was once the talk of Europe. From perhaps the 1840s until 1905, the Earl’s ancestral seat at Glamis Castle, in the Scottish lowlands, was home to a “mystery of mysteries”-an enigma that involved a hidden room, a secret passage, solemn initiations, scandal, and shadowy figures glimpsed by night on castle battlements.
The conundrum engaged two generations of high society until, soon after 1900, the secret itself was lost. One version of the story holds that it was so terrible that the 13th Earl’s heir flatly refused to have it revealed to him. Yet the mystery of Glamis (pronounced “Glarms”) remains, kept alive by its association with royalty (the heir was grandfather to Elizabeth II) and by the fact that at least some members of the Bowes-Lyon family insisted it was real.

How these episodes have less than 10k views is beyond me. Hey Algortihm, this is why we can't have nice things...would consider throwing some bucks into a patreon for a yearly "one of" (Halloween Special anyone? Christmas Bonanza?), just putting it out there.

20:40 - The threat model of a numbers station is such that it doesn't matter if everybody knows where it is or can find it. Numbers stations have been DF'd in the past by civilians. Sometimes they're in other countries, sometimes they're where nobody with a brain in their head would try to sneak in (such as on an army base). The threat model is such that everybody can hear it if they want (that's the nature of radio propagation) but only a very small number of people can understand it (by decrypting it). Everybody knowing that a certain station is broadcasting doesn't mean that you know who they're broadcasting to. 22:20 - Also, those devices are designed to be understandable. Much less of a chance of mishearing.

It seems most likely that he just accidentally stumbled into the water in the dark (and likely in an alcohol impaired state) and unfortunately drowned.I think this explains the ‘oh sh*t’ moment and after the phone became water damaged the microphone stopped working so whilst the call was still live until his dad cut it off, he wouldn’t have heard anything from the other end.

The injuries really aren't that difficult to explain. The tongue and eyes are common preferred targets for predation. Not mentioned here is that the last four bodies, including those with the missing parts, were only found two months after the first bodies, and were found in a ravine deeper in the woods. Dubnina was found with her face in flowing water, making natural predation by far the most plausible explanation. If she and the others found with her fell into a ravine, that more than explains her injuries. No, the injuries aren't the mystery. The only real mystery to the incident is why they left the tent, specifically why they left it in the way they did. And I think there's a really simple explanation: Carbon monoxide. Dyatlov had a portable stove he had built himself that he used while hiking, with a sheet-metal chimney to let exhaust gases out of the tent. We know it was used the night of the incident, because cooked food was found in the tent, but it wasn't fully set up at the time of the incident. It's not difficult to imagine a scenario where they had cooked and warmed the tent with the stove, then dismantled it for the night, not realising that a bit of the fuel was still smouldering. They go to sleep, and slowly the smouldering fuel fills the tent with smoke and carbon monoxide. Symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning include headache, nausea, and, significantlly, _confusion._ So one of the hikers wakes in the night, pitch dark, pounding headache, confused and disoriented in a tent full of smoke. They shout that there's a fire. The others wake, but they're confused and panicking and can't find the tent flap, so they cut their way out. They stagger away into the night, trying to get away from the 'fire'. With clean air, their heads clear up, but by then it's too late. They've become separated and don't know the way back to the tent. Some try to light a fire, some try to make it back to the tent, some fall into a ravine.

yeah this was just a military exercise where the mystery is because of how few photos there are. the lights were stable because military planes don't give a dam about aviation regulations and had their lights on to fly in formation in the dark during a training. Any photos which have the distinct triangle for each light are sketchy and should be investigated before you believe them. most appear doctored or fabricated for artistic reasons. any claim of distinct triangular shapes for each light should be questioned on the source. the second 2008 incident was a jerk who just sent up some flares on a bunch of balloons, which was confirmed by a police helicopter, and the man himself who admitted to it. the original news artical stated that the whitnesses said the lights started as a straight line then a square before becoming a triangle. the duration was around 15-30 minutes which matches with how long road flares last. there were jets but they only seemed to arrive *after* the lights had disappeared. the report that mentions the jets also was iffy on the number stating 4-5 when most witness reports only state 4 along with the indavidual who commited the act. in surmation, the first one was a training exercise from a nearby military base and the second was some strange person who decided to tie flares to helium balloons. if you want to verify any of this or read it for yourself it can be found in the sources of wikipedia.

So for the "Missing eyes and tongue" Its quite simple really. Birds. Yup, birds will often eat the eyes and tongues first on corpses. Nothing weird about it. The fact that Dubinina may have still had some blood pressure, perhaps unconscious, while it happened is not far out there.

did you know that actually in history humanity started out as a matriarchal society? men used to compete for the honour of marrying the queen, and were then were cannibalistically sacrificed and their blood spread on the fields so that the people could absorb their strength and fertility. it wasn't until the fear of death crept into the hearts of man that things moved towards patriarchal power structure with the kings finding loopholes to avoid being eaten.

The self-repairing concrete was only a roman thing. They didnt know what step in the process made it self-repairing, so a lot of people cut corners or tried new recipes when making roman concrete, and all that mixed with the decline and fall of the roman empire meant that the correct way was lost, and only recently rediscovered. In the middle ages and renaissance they didnt have that. They knew a lot of architechture, and had other ways of making buildings durable (like putting the harder and heavier stones in the base of the building and saving the lighter and weaker ones for the top), but no self-repairing concrete in those times (that we know of).
