This to me comes off as a complaint from Elder Bednar.

This is not realistic. I can imagine Heavenly Father answering by saying. Stop asking me for you to go do it. Use the spirit to find out when and how you should do it. Think about it yourselves and if you get it right, I will cause your bosom to burn within you.

Is it possible he meant for this talk to be applied to that culture, but not our culture in the U.S.? Maybe, there, showing up uninvited is a cultural norm? I don't know. I'm just trying to make sense of this advice. Some of Paul's epistles make sense only when applied to the audience to which they were addressed. Maybe this is similar, and Elder Bednar's advice was meant for the people of Chile, not for our culture. I am a faithful member of the church. I have a solid testimony. And I often miss church when my children are sick, because I don't want to share with the immunocompromised in my ward. I am also very introverted. I love to visit with friends, but even being with those I love is draining. I have to prepare for it. If you show up at my house uninvited, especially when I'm dealing with sick kids, your visit is going to backfire. It's going to push me away from you, not the gospel, but you. If you are concerned for my wellbeing, take the time to get to know me outside of church. Don't limit your interest in me to when you are coerced over the pulpit. If you've been taking the time to get to know me, you'll know a simple text expressing your love and asking if you can help will be far more beneficial for both of us.
