Taking a peek at the coaster lineup at Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park, California. Our Early 2024 visit was a success, but we did miss a few credits. See if you agree with our rankings and let us know in the comment section what you'd change!
Interesting that you call Racer and Racer 75 (Rebel Yell) clones. Not only are their layouts different, but there are thoosies out there that count them as 4 separate credits. Nice job and keep 'em comin'!
@@timk987 I've ridden Racer and think of it as 2 credits. It's not a Mobius racing coaster. Racer 75 has a different turnaround. I call them 4 credits as they are 4 coasters. The SBF visa figure 8 coasters are exact clones although they have completely different theming. They are obviously different coasters.
@ Yeah, I think that’s a common approach.
@@timk987 yeah, same here. Racer is 2 credits. Racer 75 is 2 credits. They are both 4 credits.
I count as 2 each also, but the rides are darn near identical. No issue putting them together.
@@DempseyKirshner only got different turnarounds
Nice video!
Thanks!
Loving the new Bakers Dozen series.. looking forward to future installments!! Idk what I'm doing having not ridden AF1 and Gwazi yet..
Pretty interesting idea. Well done Clay. One glaring inaccuracy would be saying Jim Seay was responsible for the Powder Keg conversion. Seay and Premier rides built Buzzsaw Falls, the failed water coaster that became Powder Keg. Which leads me to my second objection, where's Stan Checketts? Stan Checketts IS responsible for the Powder Keg conversion. As founder of S&S he is also responsible for the Thrust Air Coaster including Do Dodompa which held the fastest acceleration on a roller coaster until it's recent closer. Those led to the more modern Air Launch Coasters such as Maxx Force. He also capitalized on the bankruptcy of CCI and Arrow hiring several former employees including Denise Dinn and Alan Shilke as well as attaining the assets to Arrow which allowed the conversion of X to X2 which probably saved it as well as led to the heralded Asian 4th Dimension Coasters. Larry Bill's accolades don't end with Legend, but he went on to form Gravity Group and, therefore, The Voyage! Of coarse, Bill, by associations to Gravity Group can also share in the development of the inverting wood track design of Hades 360, Mine Blower, and several Jungle Trailblazers, as well as the shuttle spike of ZDT's Switchback Railway. He has been involved in over 60 wooden coaster designs in 9 different countries. Perhaps, his full resume should place him higher? I could go on, but I want to stick to my original comment, well done, Clay!
Only so much time, had to limit each person's entries. I don't think Stan deserves it more than any of the other 25. If it were rides, instead of coasters, most likely. But I did consider him, Tim. Always love the feedback!
And for larry, I tried to stick to lead engineer projects, but again, egen had to limit those. As more of them age, we'll see which survive. It that's plentiful, then he'll go higher. *hoping those seems logical* lol
@@ClayPRC Fair enough, but you gave Jim Seay credit for work Stan is ultimately responsible for and you gave Shilke credit for the 4th dimensions, which probably would be in existents if not for Stan. Denise Dinn shouldn't make the list either without Stan. I think at the very least Stan deserves hers or Seay's spot. But it's your list at the end of the day...keep 'em comin'
@timk987 never even considered him being part of the 4th dimension projects to be fair. That's a big oversight on my end, and it goes to show that we never truly finish learning a story, we just gradually learn more of it! Great insight and feedback as always. I'd give just about anything to go back to the days prior to this election and prior to the new six flags policy. I got the nosedive treatment out of nowhere. I'm trying to fight through it though!
@timk987 also, i had no clue what you meant about jim seat and Powder Keg...until I went and re-listend to what I had actually said. It was not nearly as accurate as I wanted to say lol I meant to say he was responsible for the creation but NOT the conversion. But next time I try tacking something so in depth, I might procure your services to help me proof them a second time.
I noticed mamba in your video is moving a lot slower than it is now. Around maybe 2 years ago they turned the trims off on the “ mid section brake run” when the ride got reprogrammed. It is a WAY better rollercoaster now and I honestly think it would move way up on your list if you got a recent ride on it. Also they are doing a new paint/ theme to it for the 2025 season so you should come by and check it out! If you don’t have the time in 2025 to come by I think 2026 might be the better year to come. The reasoning for that is the World Cup is in Kansas City and some people have been speculating that might be the year they get a big addition.
Nice video!
Good video, only two I drastically disagree with are Mamba and Wildfire. Mamba since they reprogrammed it a few years ago is fantastic. A lot of airtime. Way more than I got on Wild Thing at Valley Fair. They look alike but ride different. Wildfire has a great view and I like the ride but it is rather tame and I honestly think I would rather ride the new fire in the hole instead. Maybe that will change after a few more rides on FITH. I would rank the Missouri coasters 1. Time Traveler 2. Outlaw Run 3. Mamba 4. Prowler 5. Mr Freeze 6. Powder Keg 7. Batman 8. Patriot 9. Screaming Eagle 10. American Thunder 11. Zambezi Zinger 12. Boss 13. Fire in the Hole Wildfire would be next.
Great job 👍 But I'd put the boss higher! New track wouldn't suck though!
There was nothing like riding the Beast with Buzz Bars...
Not real sure how you figure Missouri is one of the most beautiful places in the country... I call it the state of misery. 😂
No hate from me with ranking Lightening Rod at #2. I personally put it at #4. I went to Dollywood specifically for LR, got to ride it three times and each time I kept thinking, what am I missing here? It just didn't do it for me. Lift, wave turn, wave turn, quad down and you're back in the station. I personally had a better time on not only Thunderhead, but Fire Chaser Express and Big Bear Mountain too (maybe even Tennessee Tornado). Pretty disappointed with Lightening Rod.
Iron Rattler’s lift motor took a shit, hence the closure. They got it open on the 6th. Wonder Woman was probably so good because it just got new trains. Of course, it’s a crazy layout regardless, but that helped I’m sure. I actually loved the preshow on Dr D’s.
I hate the trains on Boss. They're not padded and they track super poorly. Killed any fun I could've had on that ride.
Congrats on the achievement!
Great stuff!
I did intermittent fasting all my life and only realized over the past few years how beneficial it was. I always felt I didn't need to eat 3 times a day. I usually eat once a day. Roller Coasters saved my life too. I always loved them, but when my girlfriend and I broke up in 2021. I started getting bigger into amusement parks and wanting to visit other parks I've heard about. Glad they helped you become a healthier version of you! W!
I LOVE INDIANA BEACH!!!
No universal studios is crying since six flags and ceder fair combined
Area 412, as mentioned in this great video, is definitely a great place for a rollercoaster. It's a themed area that really has no anchor. The themed spinning rides just don't cut. There's really no reason to hang in this area of the park.
I don’t see a “kiddie” launch coaster because they already have their lineup of lil’ phantom, racer, then Jack rabbit as a more low end thrilling coaster, I could definitely see exterminator getting modernized with a newer model, but the entire exterminator thing and theme will more than likely never leave. I definitely think we could see a launched invert, or we could perhaps see an entire land expansion in the coming years. (With the Kmart lot owned by kennywood) and the monorail from BGT could be put into use. I could see an RMC T-Rex or an RMC hybrid go in just because kennywood is openly trying to compete with other large scale amusement companies.
Maybe they should worry about getting their newest coaster open before building another
Interesting video, well done!👏🏻
Nooooooo They better Keep the Extremenator. That ride is awesome 😎
Well researched. Thank you
Time for kennywood to return the thunderbolt to its origional 1968 design/configuration: the reinstatement of the speed bump on the 'inside' helix banked curve. ...the absence of this feature has diminished the overall power/quality of the coaster and only riders from 1968/69 vintage can attest to this undeniable fact. the pittsburgh press, upon the opening of the thunderbolt in 1968 - titled their review " it drops like a thunderbolt!" -- and IT did!!! ..restoration of this feature would return the ride to " king of coasters" status it so justly deserves. ...I know first hand as I rode it opening day/1968 and later became it's manager in 1977! ... let's show park patrons the origional thunderbolt in its fury and forget about newfangled coaster contraptions; ..the true 'king' of coasters in right in your own park!
Bobcat is great fun. I hope Gravity Group is able to manufacture their engineered precut track affordably enough that some of the smaller parks that haven't entertained the idea of a custom new coaster in a while might take a second look. I'd even be okay if they built most of the ride structure out of steel like CCI did in the 90's to cut some of the cost. It would be great to see Mine Blower sized coasters with this EPT pop up in places like Waldameer, Beech Bend, Niagara Amusement Park, etc.
Bob nuttings going to buy Kennywood 😢 lol
Best comment today, by far! Lmao 🤣
I'd be so happy if Kennywood put that last coaster in
‘Compact’ is almost always a bad characteristic for coasters.
Very excited about the tilt coaster! cant wait
Which one? lol Six Flags Mexico or COTA? The interesting thing to me is that Vekoma offers 2 different tilt models. Nobody knows if these two will be the same layout or if one of each model got sold, so I'd say that I'm excited to see both! It would be a huge win for the community if each ride has a unique layout!
Worst to first is one of the best coaster series out there. Great job as always...cheers!!
Thanks for that, I try my best to keep them consistent, yet improving as I learn more myself!
Congrats on 500 subs!! Love the Channel! Big fan of your "underrated" series.. keep up the great work Clay
Thanks! I figure if I keep trying to produce decent content, viewership will catch-up eventually!
@PRC2019 It is kinda niche but the masses will wake up soon enough and you're gonna have a monster on your hands
500 subs
Thanks!
Tbh, this list is pretty accurate to my liking of the rides, just haven't gone on riddler because it's always closed when I go
Thanks for watching! If you live in that part of the country, I'll be posting park reviews for many of the independent parks throughout the region later this winter once travel slows down for the season.

One you didn't mention that I'm curious about: I'd love to see Knobles take on a sister park from this chain. I think Dutch Wonderland especially would be an awesome fit for them honestly, a lot of rarer flat rides that Knobles knows how to take care of such as Lusse scooters. And there's room for expansion if they wanted to, say, relocate Lakemont's woodies (which they have the rights to from my understanding since they assisted in Skyliner's relocation from Roseland). I think Leap The Dips especially would make an amazing fit at Dutch Wonderland.
I love all of those ideas and would be supportive of anything that saves these parks vintage rides and helps preserve the history.
Ghostrider #1 Great video...cheers!
I may or may not be riding Ghostrider on September 12th... Hopefully, we find out!
Lech Coaster IS a Bermuda Blitz. I think maybe its that way on their site just because its the only one so far. More parks would NEED this. Lech Coaster looks beyond amazing! You did right calling it a Bermuda Blitz.
They got ran out of the country after "blessing" us with all those SLCs, and boomerangs. Theres a couple family coasters opened up at Holiday World, and Kings Island. I would be willing to bet that the one at KI came in a package. Where the other coaster goes is the question. From what Ryan the Ride Mechanic says, Vekoma is the best manufacturer to work with after the sale, like for maintenance. That will go far with the cedar fair execs. We will be seeing more Vekoma coasters in the US soon now.
We've been teased far too long!
Just got back to Ohio from our trip to Kings Dominion this weekend. Rode I305 46 times, and the rest a few.
Is it safe to lose consciousness that many times in a 12 hour timespan? LOL Sounds like a fun day though!
Fear mongering about Shivering Timbers and pretending it's unsafe on Twitter because it's wooden is disgusting and blatantly spreading misinformation. No one should trust anything this channel says tbh.
Obviously you were not on our rides. I call it like I see it. I rode both trains multiple times to make sure I wasn't overreacting. It's fair to disagree with me, but there is never any harm in having maintenance look into a ride that I WITNESSED riders walking away with minor injuries, including one that drew blood. If anything, I thought I was fairly reserved with my criticism.
@PRC2019 It has nothing to do with disagreement, it's just wild to see someone who's a coaster enthusiast calling for a wooden coaster to be closed because it's not glass smooth like a steel coaster Pretending it's unsafe because it's "rough" to you is just cringe. I remember when enthusiasts used to love wooden coasters now some of them like this guy are out to make wood coasters seem outdated and unsafe.
Quite the opposite actually. I love Shivering Timbers and I was mad at how poorly it has obviously been maintained in the last 14 months. I had THIS very same ride ranked in my top 20 last year, yet this year it is simply awful. Which was heartbreaking considering that we drove 8 hours just to spend the day at Michigan's Adventure. The SMALL potholes have become LARGE potholes. So much so that during the first drop and valley it physically makes the trains bounce vertically off its upstop wheels. This is causing major jackhammering...side to side and vertically. It's bad. No two ways around it. They SHOULD close it for the season, fix the insanely bad areas, THEN re-open the ride next year on opening day. Considering that we personally witnessed injuries, here's what I can tell you are matters of fact: -we all know that track imperfections only worsen over time, which logically means the park would be exposing itself to greater liability and risk every single day this goes unaddressed. -a potential lawsuit could effect the park in the short and long term, and worse yet could close a ride like Shivering TImbers permanently, and I'm confident nobody wants that to happen. -my number 1 responsibility is to public safety and honesty to viewers, followers, and subscribers, not shilling for a park that made poor maintenance decisions. (but fortunately not uncorrectable!) FWIW, I'm a FSCP® and deal with businesses and their risk mitigation strategies, my wife is a RN with years of experience working with insurance companies for injury claims, and I have 2 brothers that are attorneys. Let's just say that I've seen a few injury related lawsuits in my day... Where you think I'm hating on the ride and wooden rollercoasters, I'm actually defending the ride and giving it a voice. I love the ride, I want it here to stay, so fix the damn thing. We want the same thing ultimately, but we cannot ignore reality, because doing so might blowup the whole damn thing. My final piece of evidence is the lines... IF Shivering TImbers is running 'properly' then why is it a WALK-ON while Wolverine Wildcat is nearly a 1 hour wait? (which also got ZERO additional Titan track like it was supposed to) Even the GP won't ride it, that's really the only evidence that I need.
This is disgusting Stop spreading this garbage. You definitely have some stuff on here I'm going use for my Bad Coaster Takes I'm sick of hearing video.
If someone else bought it, I hope they would get more than a coaster every 9 Y E A R S. As long as the keep the classics and the Phantom’s Revenge, I am happy!!!
Aye! If it does eventually get sold, I hope the purchaser decreases the typical length of time between new attractions!
I was there second week of July.. a lot of rides closed. The staff was awesome!!!! But now I see this? The rides were closed to spit shine them to sell to the new owner. But please keep with the nostalgia of the park when it does sell. We don’t need to see a 6 foot tall Bugs Bunny in a very hot costume in July. Maintain the history of the park. Add some new attractions, more live entertainment or events
Seems to be a decent addition to the park IMO
Great another Dive coaster just what the world needed
Definitely would not have been my choice either, let's just hope that it's at least a pretty good one.
This one does not have a mid course break run so it should be better then most.
I'd love it if a Pittsburgh based entrepreneur bought all of the American and Australian Palace Entertainment properties except for the FECs (Boomers, Malibu Grand Prix, and Mountasia) which would be bought by Boomers Parks.
Who is the manufacturer for this. I fell like this could probably work at Kennywood. Layout looks pretty compact
Intamin
Im already subbed, so here's a like, and comment. Great video. I would LOVE to get to MM, but the problem is California is a very long way away from Ohio, and i dont really fly.
Thanks for the sub!
There is rumor swirling around The Interwebs that MM's new coaster is a prototype Vekoma SUSPENDED motorbike coaster. Will be interesting to see how things play out...
When thinking about why Parques wants to sell we have to consider that most people in this country are gaslighted by the media that the economy is just going to keep chugging along despite the dire state the US dollar is in right now. I believe that after the election things will go south fast. Other countries who depend on the US dollar are very concerned about this and Parques may want to avoid any losses before the 💩 hits the fan. Like it or not politics and business go hand in hand. Corporations react to economic trends that most of us are oblivious to.
I do my BEST to avoid politics in the videos, but I do agree. Parques would be wise to stick to markets they know if they truly believe that a recession is upcoming.
@@ClayPRC IMO the recession is here, the markers were changed by the media. Next is a depression....there goes my retirement ☹
