Cécile Rayroles and Nora Weller at World Combat Games 2023 (Ryiadh)
The World Combat Games take place every 4 years always in a different country. This Time they were in Saudi Arabia (Ryiadh). Over 13 Combat Sport could show their skills. Usually this are martial arts who don`t participate in Olympics. Aikido is one of them. Every country can send just e few athletes (1-4). The athletes are chosen from a Shihan or their own Aikido Forderation. I was luckily to represent Switzerland. It was a great experience to meet skillful Aikidoka from all over the globe.
In this video you se a smal part from the whole demonstration who took over 3 hours. I am glad i could share a demonstration with my friend Cecile Rayroles from France. Please enjoy and keep in mind that this is an demonstration. It is no fight. :-)

Very good!
Why all the racket? It just distracts and inclines one to seek alternative sources.
It is useful, but it would be even better without the music. Aikido speaks for itself.
Great stuff! Thanks for sharing...
belle fluidité

السلام عليكم ورحمة الله أين مكان النادي أو البلد
That's really amazing, thank you for this nice demonstration. Best Kata 31
Wahh le nombre de trophée 😅😅
My apologies - did you reverse some of the postures for the purpose of keeping the action on camera? Because as far as I know - the first 5 start in left posture; either from Hito E Mi, or Chudan no Kamae, and only swap to right hand posture for the shomen strikes. I can understand if that was the case - i.e. trying to keep the movements visible - but it could throw out someone using this as a reference point video
What an amazing techniques, thank you
Thanks for uploading this beautiful training video. Very helpful. Could you explain how to defend from side strike ?
Do you push the back leg?
Una bella fluidita dei movimenti, praticando la scuola di Saito Morihiro noto tante diversità che non permettono al jo di esprimere il massimo del potenziale, comunque brava .
Very good kihon.
Nice! Is it Latin-American??
I love Aikido thanks for sharing

Thank you! My son and I are working on 31 one sided, and I needed a refresher on the second side. This is perfect.
You are welcome.
I remember John Jones using this one 😂
Круто что сказать
Really nice, I think I will start training again, I really enjoy Jo in fact. However a concern comes to my mind, what happens if you hit a real target? Your movmeent will be stopped in the middle of its way right? Thanks for your replies !
I think that this is a valid point in practical terms especially when the attack is not symmetrical, but the Suburi and Kata teach the basic movements and their transition from one to another. This is something that needs to be borne in mind with all aikido techniques, that they are the basic forms. Some people argue that because they are not necessarily practical in themselves that the art is useless in a real situation, but they allow for the training without harm. In this case, if the end of the Jo contacts someone's head or other bony part it is likely that the rest of the Kata will not be required, similarly with empty hand.
Thanks !
I loved that performance!!! ❤❤❤
❤❤❤❤ we need women like you in Peru for Aikido. Atittude, distance and vision in a remarkable performance in both. Congrats! I'll be waiting your performance in Rihad!
Hei Georgina, thank you. May you train a lot and become a good Aikidoka in Peru. 🙂 So you set the level. 🙂
Felecitation
Excelent performance, bunch of attitude and remarkable fluidity of movement! ❤
Thank you Georgina
The meaning and purpose of the exercices are not known.
There are videos out there showing the counter movements.
I think it is to scare the opponent before he reaches you. Pay attention 😉
Très bien sensei NORA
beautiful jo saburi
Good control. Just relax and have fun with it.
Good form and control. See if you can shift the control of your weapon from your upper body to controlling it with your lower body.
What is the name of the throw?
In March I (184cm,68kg,bodybuilder) was indeed lessoned in front of a supermarket. There was a brawl concerning a trolley with an about 40 year old woman with thick ugly specs. Since she only was 150 cm, she was an easy push and I pressed her 2 meters back and downwards with my hands on her shoulders. Then she enclosed my right wrist, a short aching, she went aside and I tumbled to the ground on the back, and that in my full black leathers. On the ground, I realised a sprain in my right arm making it useless for further combat. The specs lady saw my surprise and stretched from right to left over my chest, snatching for my left arm poising it in an awkward and helpless position I never saw before. I was completely under shock and could no longer move none of my four limbs. I flushed and even fainted.I only remember some passers by in the audience saying "Look at the arm of that lady, look at the arm of that girl, you ever saw this before?".After some minutes,we were finally separated by the security and the specs lady said:"Guess you never exspected me to know the Aikido, hunny."Believe me,my biceps arms had no chance versus this Aikido application.
Sooooo beautiful Kaeshi waza!! I only knew the Ikkyo and nikkyo. Now I know what to do! Thanks!!!
You are welcome. With this structure you can adapt easily other techniques. 🇨🇭🥋🤙Have fun with your keiko.
schöne Technik und angenehme Musik

You are welcome.
Il fait n'importe quoi avec son kotegaishi pas du tout martial, il donne son dos et il croit trop que uke va rester comme ça a attendre
It looks like Aikikai style of Aikido. Very different between Yoshinkan. I like your smooth style of rolls.
Is it work in concrete?
