Meta's New Moderation Philosophy is a Win for Free Speech

Regardless of Zuckerberg's motives and past behaviour, his public commitment to move Meta from fact-checking to community notes and to scale back censorship of "misinformation" & "hate speech" is a big win for free speech. We can expect a lot more discussion of controversial issues on Meta platforms in the coming months and years.

Ireland's New Hate Offences Bill Undercuts Rule of Law

The Irish Parliament has just passed the Hate Offences Bill. The good news: this bill does not criminalise hate speech. The bad news: the bill undermines the clarity of law by introducing undefined concepts like "gender" & hate crimes. And it won't make our streets any safer. The title talks about 'a Sovereign State', in the video you talk about 'Strong Central State. There can be differences between both and the effects of these differences can be critical. For instance, by a Sovereign State, you mean the state that has benefited the delegation of people's sovereignty. This is why a Sovereign State. The people, having get rid of their sovereignty in order to give back to themselves in a form of a State, a Sovereign State. A strong Central State can exist without this form of a delegation of sovereignty from the people. A dynastic tyranny can have such a characteristic. As regards Civil Order, it is not solely a matter of the Sovereign State. To the extent that the family cells in order to function require some forms of order. This is why the citizen is the civic and civil aspects of the private human being. What matter is the contractual dimension of the central, local etc. governance. The legitimacy, the cohesion, etc. of the order lie in this contract. Originally, a Republic is conceived as a Sovereign State. In 1576, Jean Bodin, in his book 'the Six books of the Republic' wrote 'The Republic is a right government of several households and of what is common to them, with sovereign power' journals.openedition.org/eve/1781 In 1748, Montesquieu, in Spirit of Laws, has précised that each of the three types of government, the Republican, the Monarchic and the Despotic has its own principle. The principle of the Republican government he said is virtue, in other words, for the republican government to function citizens must be virtuous. Civil order is a necessity for any human gathering. And Sovereign State in terms of Central government he Polycentric Republic, in terms of Local governments exist via the practice of 'Decentralization' which in administrative law describes the delegation to the local level of certain attributions of the central power.

    it can also be called anarchism :)

    • @drdavidthunder
      @drdavidthunder 5 วันที่ผ่านมา

      I distinguish my view from anarchism because I am not opposed to political authority and I am not completely opposed to coercion, e.g. coercive taxes, as long as the coercive element is properly mitigated by things like tax vouchers and local control. Also, my view, though it may overlap in certain ways with anarchism, is grounded in a neo-Aristotelian view of human flourishing, not a principle of non-aggression.

Then migrant come in and has created a huge problem but people like to blame and be angry at migrants. The hype and drama and opinons on social media do not help. I'm brave enough to speak out, because I feel the way you ALL feel about this. The British government have been BENDING OVER BACKWARDS to accommodate terrorists ! And they've locked up those concerned, honest voices who SPEAK THE TRUTH ! I will be SIXTY next birthday. If the Police State wish to investigate ME, and prosecute ME, and charge ME, and jail ME all over again, I say : "Go ahead, MAKE MY DAY !" Yes, folks, even I was jailed, for THREE MONTHS, back in 2003, for sending obscenities written on the back of a postcard, to MY OWN MUM ! The crime of "Malicious Communications" is so loosely-defined, it could include ANYTHING and EVERYONE ! The brutal way in which the Police State have incarcerated Tommy is typical of a tin-pot dictatorship. He has been sentenced and jailed by a batty old judge in a kangaroo court. The investigation of Allison Pearson is outrageous. The brutal way the system has treated her is typical of a tin-pot dictatorship. I know what a tin-pot dictatorship is ! In 1970 my parents decided to move from Greece (a military dictatorship at the time) and to settle in the UK (which they had always regarded as a mature democracy). Today in the UK we are living in a HELLISH Police State. The Police State locked up a harmless 61-year-old granddad (Peter Lynch) and an honest lady who speaks the truth (Lucy Connolly). The Police State have muzzled the press and gagged journalists. They have gagged Parliament ! They have jailed ordinary people ! The Police State are telling us that Peter Lynch "took his own life" in prison ! My heart goes out to this brave man, Peter Lynch, who has been killed by the Police State. His only "crime" was to speak the TRUTH ! The Police State have CENSORED any mention of Peter Lynch in our printed papers, and they are DELETING most of my online comments ! My name is George Tzamouranis and I was born in Athens, Greece, in 1965. My grandparents in Nazi-occupied Greece, in 1941-1944, had looked up to the British as the most civilised nation on this planet. They were LIBERATED by the British in October 1944 ! Today Britain has become the laughing-stock of the whole world. What's gone wrong ? Where is Winston Churchill's finest hour ? Where is the fighting spirit of the blitz ? I used to admire and vote for Nigel, but now I truly admire Tommy, for his boldness and courage in speaking THE BLUNT TRUTH ! I guess I'm an immigrant, in the sense that my parents decided to move from Greece and to settle in Wimbledon, back in 1970, when I was just FIVE years of age and my sister was just SEVEN years of age, but THERE WAS A REASON for my dad's arrival in the UK with his family : he was a journalist and he had been stationed in London as the correspondent for a Greek newspaper. The problem today is that ALL THE TRASH AND THE DREGS OF SOCIETY FROM THIRD-WORLD COUNTRIES are arriving in the UK, WITH or WITHOUT money, WITH or WITHOUT permission, and WITH or WITHOUT any reason for BEING here ! We are seeing a breakdown in the NHS, in housing provision, in schooling, in law and order, because THE UK HAS BEEN FLOODED with gangsters and criminals. We are also seeing a rapid Islamification of ALL our inner cities. I'm WITH you, Tommy ! We must KICK OUT the Albanian and Romanian gangsters, the Gipsy beggars, the West African and Vietnamese heroin-smugglers, we must KICK OUT the Arab trash of various nationalities, those Jihadis and their letterbox wives, and we must make Britain beautiful again, the way this land was MEANT to be ! And the job of the police is to police our streets, NOT our tweets !

      @@williamcannon7262 1) her description of the conversation with the police is incorrect/misleading - police have the bodycam, she was invited to an interview - it's a function of the job, she's a journalist so she knows this. 2) the tool in the video mentions magna carta - I don't see how a document to protect the rights of nobles is much use here - though I realise people seem to think it's like the US constitution 3) there is no politicisation here 4) related to above - if you look at the tweet itself (and you'll have to get off your own area and use a search engine for 5 mins plus use your brain) it's obvious slanderous, and definitely racist certainly plausible incitement to racial hatred 5) listen to his disclaimer at the end, he's a useless grifter asking for cash from yuo, that's the entire point of this video - it's called emotional marketing and has been widespread since the 1950s There's much more but if those don't stand out to you then your listening to what you want to hear
