Wow what a blast from the past I had that book when I was(1996) ten years old lol however when I moved it was lost in the warp lol ...That is so so crazy you have that river I've seen that so many times as well ...right on !!....FYI I still make all my terrain from trash ....but I have bought a few from GW as well 😅

The crashed spaceship was made from a Star Wars toy - the rebel cargoship scene in Empire Strikes Back. I've got this book and still pull it out from time to time.

This was the book that got me into wargaming. Saw it on the shelf and loved the colors and minis. Been hooked since.

I see you also read the refined historical texts.

Looking forward to seeing you building these, can always use more terrain for different battlefield's.

And today in many a man-cave modellers still build these terrain bits and pieces because GW charges the Earth to buy their plastic and resin equivalents - but with some ingenuity its marvellous what can be achieved from rubbish that is either re -used or lands up in land-fill tips.

I think much of the current terrain building section of TH-cam still uses techniques pioneered in this book.

Just found your video... nice work and very similar to how I've been painting Mentors since Indomitus released (I've still got some I painted in the late 80's but not got the eye any more to do black lines). Differences to your video: I base the green parts with Leadbelcher and then use Contrast Ork Flesh. This gives the green a nice metallic feel. But then I can't highlight the green as you do else I'd loose that metallic look... finally solved this with a suggestion from Chris "Peachy" on WH Twitch:- thinned down Technical Stormshield makes the green pop. Apothecary White is a godsend for shading under a drybrushed white. I'm still in two minds whether I prefer Praxeti to drybrush with or White Scar AIR paint (yes air... it stays thinner for longer )

Amazing, I used to work with this book when I started my CSM army in 2005. And I still own and use those exact yellow clippers from back then. Never felt the need to buy new ones.

For those who want to go that much extra, check out Sheperd Paines diorama building book. He died years ago, but his books on model making and diorama building are still available, and provide awesome tiny details and ideas that really make your terrain stand out :-) Just planting seeds :-D

In getting (full) in 40k since 1 or 2 years but actually knowing 40k and buying a kit here a kit there since i was a child in school.... and i have to say i always love the terrains amd how People make by themselves but when i discover GW made originally terrains and vehicles with scrapp and another model kits i was on heaven because they are super awesome. PD that blue chimera at 1:42 for some reason has the spanish Flag or its just me?

Could you build the crashed space ship from that book next?

Fantastic, I can just about remember getting this new. My first game of 40k we used mess tins, old rashon pack box's and anything we could get our hands on. Yes make them videos. Now I've made myself feel old LoL 😂

Nice work pal, a drop pod is one of the few things I've never had in my army. Think I'll have to get one, because I still use first born marines in my game's.

I like what you did a lot .... but at least for me he’s not green enough... the other colors gone the armor the illusion of green in the video. Was he supposed to be pallid hand?

Gw should have made a contrast Death Guard Green to do with the whole death guard marketing. I guess you can use contrast medium with DGG, does that work?
