Comprehensible Input Chinese (CommonsenseChinese)
United States
Hi, I am Kan from China. I live and work in California. I teach Mandarin. Revolutionize your Mandarin with the Comprehensible Input (CI) approach. Input, Input, and Input...this natural immersion approach is effective and is inspired by DreamingSpanish. Hence, my CommonsenseChinese channel.

New Acquisitions: Molcajete and Tortilla Presser
Bought two new tools for a cooking class. The molcajete is made out of volcano rocks. Before using it, I need to season it with a LOT of work, for example, grinding dry rice into powders, and repeat it again. But I hope to make delicious salsa with it in the near future.

Trians in China
I like to take trains whenever I go back to China. Trains are convenient and are the most popular form of travelings in China. The slow trains have sleep cabins that are able to sleep 6 person in one cabin. The price is also unbeatable compare to speed trains (gao tie).
Wash Dishes

I love cooking but I dislike wash dishes afterwards. Yet, it is necessary. How do you wash dishes? Manually or use machines?
VILLAGE CATS EAT EVERYTHING
Four kitties and the cat mother in my village in China. They are not pets but rather stray cats freely roaming around and looking for foods in each households. Although the kitties are almost the same size as the cat mother, the 4 kitties are still drinking their mother's milk. :-) Another fact is that the cats eat almost anything (e.g. rice, vegetables, leftovers of any kinds). The best way of...
Summer, my village, and mother
A hot summer in my home village China. Relaxing conversation with my mother in the Gan language, accompanying her while she is cooking in a wood-fired stove kitchen; and of course, cutting a lot of chili peppers, dried and fresh ones. Ideal summer vacation for me.
Hotel robots delivery free snacks

Robots are often encountered in hotels in China nowadays. They delivery bottled water, snacks, take outs and many other items. It was also fun to take elevators with robots when they were on their ways to delivery. ;-)

I discovered my favorite local hotel during my summer trip in China. It is a mid-range hotel that one can find in many cities in China. All with good service and simple design.

Paris apartments are old and very small. Many have no elevators. Even if there are elevators, they are often very small. How do Paris movers solver the problem?
Why I started to make youtube videos?
I was inspired by Pablos' Dreaming Spanish project. I was happy to communicate with him. "Dreaming Chinese" is a such good name, but now I have to come up a new name for myself.

The Peach Blossom Spring Story
This is a classic literature and story in 421 CE about a fisherman who accidentally discovered a utopia called the Peach Blossom Spring. Have you heard of this story and do you think you can find this utopia land?
Nice and easy to follow video, thanks! Hope you get more subscribers soon
Thank you very much! 1. Ukrainian. 2. Russian. 3. English (286 hours of Comprehensible Input) Learn now 4. Korean (55 hours of Comprehensible Input) I had just tried 5. Chinese (45 hour of Comprehensible Input) Learn now Right now, I’m trying to learn both languages at the same time. If it becomes too difficult, I’ll focus on just one.
Learning 3 languages at the same time, amazing energy! Chinese, Korean, and English are quite different, I imagine the problem might not be the confusion part but rather the limited time of 24 hours a day. :0)
@@CommonsenseChinese Are you learning two languages at the same time, or only one at a time?
Great video.
Thanks for the visit
This is my second time watching this after watching all your superbeginner videos (and also some other channels), and I understood more words!!
You are a serious learner, I can tell :-) Keep up
Very helpful, thank you. Also, doing dishes is the worst!
Great to see you doing Dreaming Spanish style videos for Chinese, thank you :)
Poor mao!
Thank you very much. The entire playlist is great!
Glad you like them!
I didn't notice before that you have content for beginners, VERY COOL. Where have my eyes been before? :)
TH-cam has way too much content; that is the problem. I think.
The last superbeginner video! 😩 Only for now, hopefully? Thank you again so much for making these!!
More to come!
New subscriber here thank you for share 🩵
I got 2/2!
Well done.
Very serious dead-pan delivery of this joke. Well done!
Thank you so much for showing us this. It gives us a glimpse of what life was like for you in China.
"shau bai tu" was really clear, thank you! Love the song (?) at the end. :)
It is a children poem,
Did you say you were a fan of Dreaming Spanish, so you asked Pablo if you could make "Dreaming Chinese," and he said yes? If so, that's so cool! I can really feel the power of the technique in this video. I was totally engaged and I think picked up on a couple words!! Thank you so much for doing this. I don't know why more people haven't made videos like this.
You got it. That is the main message.:-)
Delightful. :) I didn't notice the title so I had no idea what was going on, but I did finally figure it out by the fourth clue!
Well done!
I don't understand the words yet, but the pictures helped me understand what you were saying and connect the meaning to some of the words. :) Thank you!
You have good intuition. Very good for learning a new language.
Thank you so much for making this. It's way above my level (I am starting from absolute zero), but it's the video that's the closest to my level I've found so far.
You can go to my youtube site, click playlist, and choose the super beginner videos.
I love your teaching method ❤
I'm so glad! It is a common sense but many (adults) are too rational to believe it.
Your story is amazing please continue make this kind of video, it can be rumbling nonsense story, what we need is understanding the language or story, my suggestion is using daily usage words that most common word that we use in daily life conversation. Thank you, love it❤❤❤❤❤
Thanks for your suggestion! More to come!
(English because I don't trust my Chinese: don't spiders have 8 eyes?) The 6 eyes hint made me completely disregard them as an option until the last hint 😭
Ha ha. You are right. Most spiders have eight eyes, but some have six or fewer, and some have as many as 12.
Reminds me of the small town I live in.
People always tend to visit big citiies. but even here in Europe I don't understand when people say they go and visit Paris/Berlin/Amsterdam. I don't like glass and concrete. If I ever visit China, I plan to visit small towns like this, speak to local people and try to learn about their way of life. In my opinion these people have much more knowledge about real life.
Great video, thank you so much 😊
Glad it was helpful!
I can’t believe I’m only just coming across your channel, I wish I had found it sooner! Thank you so much for making CI videos, your channel is such a wealth of a resource for learning 💖 I look forward to your future content! 😊
I know, right. So many wonderful CI resources on TH-cam that we have yet to "discover".
Thank you for continuing to make videos while in China and giving us more content!
More to come!
How about "chinese wei",laoshi?
Sure, I will check this channel out. Thanks for your suggestion.
You can use TH-cam in China through your US phone and Sim card. Just turn on your data roaming service.
Thanks for the tip. I was happy to have a break from my smartphone. The world continues. :-)
love this video! thanks so much for making content for superbeginners :')
