What Will Be Your Legacy? // Genesis: Why Is It This Way?
Heart of a Man is a men's community based our Carmel, IN. We exist to deeply connect men with a brotherhood equally committed to learning, growing, walking through life together and deepening in faith. Our mission is to build men into character-driven, committed disciples of Jesus, equipped to forge healthy, life-giving relationships at home, at work, and in their communities.
Today's lesson is from our CEO and Co-Founder, Bill Moore, taking us through Genesis 48-50. He walks us through the idea of legacy, challenging us to think about what we will leave behind to our families and in the world when we've passed on, and what our impact will be on the people around us.
Please visit us at www.heartofaman.org to learn more, to contact us, to purchase merchandise, donate to our ministry (we are a 501c3 and all donations are tax-deductible) or to join us in-person for one of our many Bible studies and classes!

From one Pete to another. This is brilliant. The Bible speaks to every person in every cultue to every generation. The Hebrew language itself has layers of meaning, and the letter equivalent numbers added up in words comparing certain words is mind blowing, and the Bible code, on and on. ... The most mind blowing thing is how Jesus was able to save the world from sin..the free gift of forgiveness and love for those who would confess Jesus as Lord. Forgiveness cancels guilt the root of disease, disturbed ease, pain, a lack of peace with our maker. Healing under His wings!

My view is that people who wrote those books, their intention is to glorify their hero. They have different sources. But the worst part is we don't have the originals manuscripts of any books of the Bible.

Why is the lack of the _original_ manuscripts important? How many _original_ manuscripts about any historical figure from over 500 years ago do you know of? Indeed, how many _original_ manuscripts of any history book published in the last 500 years can you point to?

I can accept Alexander the Great existed without any historical books, just retold stories because whether he existed or not, but it would not affect my life at all. People creating laws based on Christ’s life does. And this goes for any religion. It sets up an”us” versus “them” mentality. Take a quick look at the middle east or Afghanistan. Northern Ireland in the recent past. The crusades, the inquisition ( which lasted over 400 years btw). Your beliefs effect your decisions and faulty beliefs will create faulty decisions.

(Sorry for the VERY, VERY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be espoused) I just come, from reading Genesis 37 and 38. And "Judah" was what an old adage is, and his Son: "The apple doesn't fall far from the tree"! Meaning his father, Jacob/Israel, was a VERY Bad father; and Judah did it the same!. Because Jacob loved Joseph; more than any of his other sons. And NO father, should ever have, be "partial", EVER! Thus, I believe, the horrors of Judah, were going on, most of his life; believing Joseph was dead! Thus, Jesus punished both the father, except for Joseph and Benjamin. And the Jacob and Judah; were deserved, for what they got in pains, etc! And let it be a warning to ALL men. Because Jesus punishes every Sin X 7 times. And 10 X times 7=70; for "Abominable Sins". (Like Jacob and his 10 sons did!) Leviticus 26:28 Then I will walk contrary unto you also in fury; and I, even I, will punish you seven times for your sins. Thus, Jesus punished King Nebuchadnezzar for 7 yrs; on the ground for his Sins, While Jesus was punishing 2 Tribes; by allowing the King to enslave the Tribes, for 70 yrs. 605 BC to 535 BC! Because of their 'circa 1,000 yrs; of committing Abominable Sins! So men please LISTEN!...."Be Careful, Be Ware and Be Alarmed"; of what Jesus can do to us! AMEN!

I believe it in this...Matthew 19:26 Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. And THIS is the "Way"; that Jesus gave people eyes, ears and even giving "Lazarus" his life after he was dead 4 days! And untold other things, that NO man could ever do. But Jesus can do EVERY thing. For, there is NO limits EVER! And IF those foolish "Atheistic Scientists" KNEW that; they WOULD believe there is A "True" God. But they were Blinded by satan. And they think EVERY "Way" in earthly "logic"! How silly. For, with God all things are possible. Praise Jesus' Holy Name! (Sorry for the VERY, VWRY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be said) Kind Sir...God "can" do ANY thing He wants. Even do things NO human could ever do; that were impossible, like in...Matthew 19:26 But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible. So God CAN use our "Parenting Mistakes"....However, He probably won't do it. Because God gave ALL humans "Free-Will"! Regardless of those who say; "He did not do that, because God always is in Control". Yeah Right!... That is a satan-led, Godless LIE. We are let do ANY thing; we want to do. Except for a VERY few times; when God will step in. Now kind Sir You said, "Genesis: Why Is It This Way?" Notice: I'm not seeing what that means, kind Sir. And Please tell me what that means). And if one wants help from God; they MUST be "Born Again" first. Then. they must pray often to Jesus, who IS God. Because Jesus' name is God; ever since the last 2,000. Where it used to be "YHWH" ("Yahweh"). And Jesus' English and in Hebrew, it's "Yeshua". Then wait (some times yrs) to see if Jesus will do what is asked. Because many times; Jesus will NOT answer. Because we are doing things; that would get in the way! And it took me 17 yrs to realize that! But now. He answers many of mine. End of Story and I rest me case... ...Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

(Sorry for the VERY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be said) Kind Kind Sir you said, "Why is it This Way". Well, if you would ask that question to 10 million people; MOST would, in essence say, "Men and Women are the same!" But that is NOT true. And the bible proves it in...Genesis 3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman, and between thy seed and her seed; it shall bruise thy head, and thou shalt bruise his heel. Genesis 3:16 Unto the woman he said, I will greatly multiply thy sorrow and thy conception; in sorrow thou shalt bring forth children; and thy desire shall be to thy husband, and he shall rule over thee. Genesis 3:17 And unto Adam he said, Because thou hast hearkened unto the voice of thy wife, and hast eaten of the tree, of which I commanded thee, saying, Thou shalt not eat of it: cursed is the ground for thy sake; in sorrow shalt thou eat of it all the days of thy life; And when God punishes like this; He makes it always; as he did to "Cain'. In other words...Men have wisdom; but women have very little of wisdom. (Now there ARE men with a lot of female hormones; while the're Women that have a lot of male hormones. But in NO case does a man or woman ever have 100% of the opposite) Sad today, where most of the world, believe men and women are the same. But it is NOT. Whether or not! And on "Judgment Day"; Jesus will reveal ALL truths. Thus will KNOW the above. Believe it or not. Thus... Women should NOT go to work; when in marriage (Unless there are no man to do it). And Men should never do the other, of course. Believe it or not. And this is proven as nations are becoming Cesspools of Dunghills; because of that! For Men should be the "Governors" Always! And Women should be the Heavenly "Precious" mother "making cookies", etc!. And again, ALL will KNOW this is Truth in "JD" very soon. Believe it or not. In any case Kind Sir and Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN!

Stop brainwashing people with this nonsense. There is zero - as in ZERO - evidence that anyone named Jesus ever lived. You haven't found a single piece of evidence of Jesus at the time where he was alive. Not a single lousy letter, or piece of graffiti on a wall. And funny enough, you compare roman leaders with Jesus, but we have so much evidence of these roman leaders, from multiple sources, but ZERO of Jesus. The New Testament, the Gospels, are just bad fan faction of the Old Testament. Jesus was never a real person, until the gospels were written somehow, 70 years AFTER his death. Come on, seriously, we don't even know who wrote the Gospels. People, stop believing in a fictional character like Jesus, pick your self up, and believe in your self, and not stupid storytales written by random people.

The only people who argue Jesus didn't exist are deluded or outright dishonest. Take your pick as to which applies to you. There isn't a recognized expert in ancient history who argues the evidence doesn't exist. That evidence - from outside the Bible - goes right back to historical records from the late first to early second century.

(Sorry for the VERY long "comment". But I believe it NEEDS to be said) Kind Sir...of course, NO English bibles are accurate; from "Gen To Rev". And this is why: The bibles began with "Hebrew to Aramaic to Greek to Latin to Manuscripts into English". And any wise Translator, would say, "It's impossible to have an English Bible, and be 100% accurate!". And to prove this...go to the Web; and seek the "GreatSite Co" of the "English Bible History". Then spend many hours; to find out of, the English Bible. And if you're a wise Christian...you WILL know; that no Bible can be accurate! Especially...if it's English. Sad, but OH So true. May Jesus be mercy. And this is why today's 2 New English Bibles* came into being; are the NASB (1972 AD); and the NIV (1973 AD). And they say; "The MOST accurate ,ever translated"! Where the NASB are translated "word by word"; while the NIV are translated "phrase by phrase"! And many say, "It's better to get the NIV; unless you are really up, on the (crazy) English language". ...in any case kind Sir and Brethren, Please Pray OFTEN and Praise Jesus OFTEN; for He is the ONLY true "God Almighty"; there will ever have been. And may Jesus bless you and yours always. AMEN! * (NASB) “New American Standard Bible”, (NIV) “New International Version”. And they have created a New "KJV" bible (NKJV 1982 AD); because the other bibles are so wanted today. Praise Jesus' Holy Name!

Most modern English Bibles are translated directly from the original Hebrew & Aramaic languages for the Old Testament and from the original Greek language for the New Testament. I don't know where you got this multi-level path from those languages to English from, but it seems you've never read the preface to whatever translation you're using.

@@convinceme6676 No it's not necessary of any Scripture; from the very beginning! And wise Bible Scholars knows this. Because languages make every thing crazy. They, know that any time they translate from one language to another language; there ARE going to be errors; that can't stop. And not to mention several translates; it simply goes wild. So the best way to find the Truth! Is to pray to Jesus ONLY; and ask Him for "Wisdom, Understanding and the Truth!". I appreciate this video, especially minutes 8-20 where you talk about the issues boys and men are facing. And I also appreciate the passion you obviously feel for these issues, and the well-being of the men you work with. I'm not religious. I'm one of the 90% of men you say don't have religion by age 18. Yet I don't have those negative outcomes you showed. I don't believe that prayer in schools is good thing -- the fact that you associate all those negative outcomes with the supreme court decision to end prayer in school is not correct -- there is a massive leap in logic there that I don't agree with. Correlation does not equal causation. That said, I love the fact that you are helping men within your religion understand these important issues and be the best men they can be. I just hope you remember the separation of church and state. One thing I love about this country is freedom OF and freedom FROM religion.

Thanks a ton for sharing your thoughts on this! We absolutely are grateful for the freedoms of our country as well! Prayer coming out of schools is correlated heavily to the removal of teaching a foundational morality in schools anymore, which we do think is heavily correlated and owns some causation with the degradation of the moral undergirding of the nation. Less kids praying and learning about faith means less children believing in it! The connection there certainly exists to SOME level. That’s our thought; thanks again for sharing!

What they called circumcision is a mockery of God, a crown of thorns that leaves a purple robe.

@@HeartofaManIndy Peace to You in God's Living Word. It was the sin of Adam and the breach [ / ] in God's garden center [ + ]. It was the profaning of the temple that people were misled into saying this profaning was godly, wise and eye appealing. It was the beast that was and is not. It was the "mystery of iniquity" that the Lord has provided atonement for that sets the captives free. It was a cruel scourge and never commanded by God. May you be strengthened and blessed, may your hand be straight and your eye single. May the Light of God shine on your face and God's Spirit in You overcome every wickedness.

@@TaylorMoore4K Peace to you Taylor, I am saying that spilling a baby's blood is an evil thing. Altering the form of the baby is an evil thing. Circumcising the foreskin of the heart is a different matter as well as the ancient practice of males being given the family name to carry. The body is the temple of God where God's Spirit resides, altering God's temple is not Godly nor ever commanded by God. As it was written by Noah, "those who spill the blood of man, who is in the image of God shall have their blood spilled by man". What is practiced today and called "circumcision" is indeed evil and is not the circumcision of God, which is one not made by hands. May You be renewed in the Truth and raise out of the captivity by the power of the Living God who has provided atonement on your behalf.
