Okay I hope someone sees this. How and what is going on with the radio deck? I would love to update mine to something like that to be able to use the speakers on the bike.
@@delongsrepairs5052 it’s an after market head unit it. Cost about $300 for the unit and installation. What kind of bike are you on?
I would absolutely pay that, and I am on a Honda gl1200 aspencade I think it’s written
"You know"..
Had a pair (160-60 & 120-70 17’s) on my GSX750F with absolutely no issues whatsoever, mostly quick road use on twistie A roads, going to put a pair on my Bandit 12 in the next few days, wish me luck… 😂 On a serious note, probably one of the best budget tyres I’ve ever tested and more than a match for the Metzeler Z6’s they replaced… Some tyres I just wouldn’t recommend full stop, these in my opinion/experience are definitely worth a shout… Just cos it’s got X, Y or Z emblazoned on the side of it it doesn’t automatically mean it’s the best… 🙂
@@JustinWallace-ky9dm they are good quality you will enjoy them :)
Had my 83 Interstate for 12 years now. Anything newer has a lot of added plumbing and sensors that I don't want to deal with.
We all know which one to go it's just that bank balance matters and habits of driving 😂
The KLR needs the 649cc from the Ninja 650.
@@justinsmith623 100% agree. Thanks for watching.
These wings are capable of going well over 500,000 miles. Every time I change the oil I automatically change the coolant at the same time, mine is a 1986 Honda gold wing interstate.
I've got a 76 gl 1000 in my garage that my dad left me when he passed away 2 years ago come Jan 18th. as a kid, I went everywhere with my dad if he was taking the bike out. its metallic red and naked. My dad bought it 2 years old in England, and brought it over to Canada in 1980. Very good memories on this bike. its in pieces atm. My dad had started rebuilding it but never got the chance to finish it. maybe one day when funds permit, Ill be able to see this thing ridable again. Crazy fact that not a lot of people know: when the gl 1000 was released, it was one of the fastest accelerating motorcycles in the world. Made perfect sense why my dad bought it. He had to have the baddest bike out of all his buddies! lol
Time to get it put back together :)
To me the most appealing thing of old bikes is working on them. I'd actually rather have a bike that needs work than one that doesn't.
I like the mirrors, the view seems to have very little vibration unlike the stock Gen 1 mirrors, are those the Double Take mirrors?
@@rustedjunkgarage3316 yessir they work well. Thanks for watching
I met a guy at the gas station with a 1980 Goldwing with a matching sidecar. It even had Honda badges on it, though he said it made by a company here in the states. It was the coolest thing. I look for first and second gen, GL1000 and GL1100’s sometimes. The newer versions have so many appealing features but the ‘78-‘80 models look so good.
I need to do the progressive springs. I did the dash and foot pegs when I first bought my 2011 three years ago.
@@insatiable_mind the springs made a big difference on the highway and off road. Thanks for watching
is 8900 good for a brand new 650 with abs?
@@DanielPuttus that’s msrp I believe. If u can get it out the door for that much sure it’s a good deal. Try to get them to through on some gear :)
Dude, stupid people are not buying vintage Gold Wing ever. You know why? Because they are stupid!

Would you say 7000 for a used ninja 2020 krt edition with 3.5k miles is a lot?
@@BoofedUpWifi seems like a bit much .
@ what price would you pay?
that doesn't seem bad at all though
I'm looking at a 84 GL1200 standard and the nearest shop is over an hour from me so I will be doing most maintenance myself. Does much if any of the difficulty come from the removing all the extra stuff from the interstate models?
I have a Royal continental gt 650 and i'm really thinking about having a goldwing, i know it may not be as convenient cuz of technology and safety but i'm so in love with it, thoughts and reccomendations? Would it be better to go for a cb 750f??
@@mcornielle go for it they are all over for very cheap!
Put a 16th front sprocket on it, and keep it at 5k rpm. You won't burn oil.
@@Gunner40Five this bike had a 16 front and 46 rear I believe when I first bought it. Burned less oil but not none lol. It was not good from a dig off road so I swapped back to stock sprockets
@@klrshthead2906 I run a 16 front and a stock 43 rear. We have done many 600+ days, and If I let rpms creep above 5K I burn some oil. If I keep at 5K or below the oil burn is negligible on my 2007 KLR.
Totally stupid video, many things completely wrong. These are easy to work on, just watch a TH-cam video first - don't listen to this fool!
That’s a beautiful bit of country you were driving through in this video what state is it?
@@dave-7dot4 Virginia ! Thanks for watching
I always use this trade Kenda, that is very nice.
I own a 2021 Ninja650-It's quick-you're up to LEGAL speed almost as quickly as the supersports and that's good enough for me.Also excellent brakes-the entire bike has Kawasaki engineers behind it so you can't go wrong.
Excellent video. I ride 2001 KLR650 in the mtns of South Central Pennsylvania. It's like the Kentucky mtns.
I’m familiar I’ve done the BDRX in that area a few times now, beautiful country. Thanks for watching!
I had both ninja 650 and zx6r. I felt more comfortable on zx6r. Also handled much better than ninja 650
@@ashourtalia7016 thanks for watching! I’ve been on the zx6r and it’s not comfortable long distance for me. The more upright ergonomics on the 650 fit me a bit better.
Zx6 is not crazy uncomfortable, but if your taking long trips the ergos on the 650 are in a different class all together, if your just a weekend guy , a highway pull guy get the zx6, if your taking multiple state trips and long commutes daily, get the 650 or any upright Ptwin for that matter, I love an inline 4, but in traffic ill take the P twins all day even V twins. you are right though a 636 is gonna ball you up as bad other supersports.
Clockwise only and after 5 it will go to 1 again,, 2 people is a full load, leave on #5
Take a look at the manual page 13-14 it states to go from 5-4-3-2-1 to turn the bolt counter clockwise it then has a warning saying not to turn the bolt in the “ opposite direction OF THE ABOVE PROCEDURES” meaning you must follow the counterclockwise progression. It’s a bit confusing but you shouldn’t go past 5 back to 1. I left a link to the manual. 84.22.143.158/files/%D0%A0%D1%83%D0%BA%D0%BE%D0%B2%D0%BE%D0%B4%D1%81%D1%82%D0%B2%D0%B0/Moto/Kawasaki/Kawasaki%20KLR%20650%20Service%20Manual%202008-2012.pdf
My grandpa in law just gave me his 1982 goldwing. Has historic plates and all.
Nice!
Whats the fastest youve (allegedly lol) ridden with these tires?
Allegedly low triple digits. :)
what is the difference of having a Ninja650 2021 model to lastest version of ninja650
You’d have to do some research on each bike there may big large changes or none at all. Thanks for watching
Basically ABS and traction control. The rest it's the same bike.
Should be fine at a track day event, just depends how fast of a rider you are.
@@jimstenlund6017 haven’t had them in the track but they’ve held up well. Thanks for watching!
I personally just love all the aspects of the Wing. I enjoy working on them because I can do my own work and I like to see if there are areas needing attention or just cleaning up. The weight is great, considering that it's a tourer machine, and the size of 1st gen's (flat 4's) is nice due to not being super huge to maneuver. The maintenance is critical but not excessive, and it will pay off after rolling the odometer over twice. It isn't a crotch rocket, but there are things, everyday Joes, can do to help it out a bit. Their price isn't overwhelming, only modest, which opens up opportunity to upgrade if desired.
All great points thanks for watching!
What kind of mount is that? Phone or GPS?
Its the quick grip from ram and it’s for my phone. Thanks for watching!
as a previous owner of a 1982 Aspencade and over 30 thousand miles. back in the day you could take to the Honda dealer, no so much today. independent shops are hit and miss at best. glad to see so many assorted youtube repair videos they help. so be ready to do 90% of your own work if needed. suggest don't cheap out pay the price get the best vintage GW you can find. fact is if i wanted to tour the USA by motorcycle it would be a 1980s GW.
@@frankdillon6127 well said thanks for watching
Hey guys, thinking about getting this as my first bike next summer season. Here’s my concern, I’m 6’4 300lbs. I don’t want to be a “BROTHER🦅”, will this fit and work for me?
I’m 6 feet 270 and it fits me nicely. Might be a bit cramped for you but you should sit on one and try it out.
I have a 50cc scooter since I was 17, just turned 20 so I can get my a2 license. Is the 650 a good sporty bike that’ll fit me? I’m 6’2 so I’m scared I’m a bit too tall for it. I want something a bit fast and fun that I can take to uni daily
I’m 6 feet 270 and it fits me well. Shouldn’t be to small for u.
I'm 6.3,, ride daily in London traffic. 26000miles on 2016 z650. Throttle is snappy, handlebars are low. I have the comfort seat and have fitted different bars. Mt07 is abetter bike
I've got the same generation and color. I love the bike. I've got 36k miles on it, I'm considering buying a ZX-6R for something new and a bit different. Still keeping the 650, though.
Nice they are both great bikes!
I got a 86 Gl1200 love it
I have a 2024 R with manual and love it. People give it a bad rap because their to judgmental on it. It's not fast, just looks like it. I ride one because a illness prevents me from riding my 2 wheeler. I enjoy it and don't care what people think of it.
@@Greg-w6t that’s all that matters :)
I can ride a two wheeler and still love my SS good choice. Nothing like it. I didn't want another bike or convertible it was time for something different. Having my wife on the back of my R1 is terrible I'm bored and she's uncomfortable. But in the SS I can have a blast and so can she. Shorts flipflops and a baseball cap nothing beats ripping around in a slingshot. And bikes these days are pretty darn close to the same price.
anyone in tennessee looking for a gl1000 i have a very nice bike that needs finished....
I had the KM1's on my 2004 FJR1300, they went 13,000 miles on mostly freeway, dry, straight roads. I thought they were real good. I paid $178 for the set which i thought was real cheap, im now on the Road6 GT's. I doubt the price difference will correlate with the tire mileage.
