You are a very fine player with a great sound and good upper register. I think there are two ways to play this first mvt. Listening on TH-cam robs much of the true dynamic and tonal variety, so it is hard to really accurately comment on your interpretation. To my ears you are playing a vibrant, more noble, ringing, declarative dynamic and sound. Many fine players play it that way. I would love to hear you begin with half that volume, seeking an intimate, tender framework from which the peaks of the phrase can be more effective. In my opinion the tempo could be just slightly faster so that we feel more movement toward cadences. The task is to express an affect from the "doctrine of affections" which is most musically powerful. I would love to hear a fine player such as yourself, who has ease of production and range, seek to draw tears tinged with both sadness and joy from the audience. I am not faulting your playing, of which I am envious, but I think trumpet players should really back off and afford a deeper sense of emotion and more expressive shapes by starting with a thoughtful, reflective character tonally and dynamically. It is okay to be "romantic" in baroque music if it means to touch the heart more. We can try different descriptive adjectives: tender joy, yearning, sweet sadness, offering more color and imagery vs more overtly assertive expressions in order to give a deeper musical purpose to the work. It might also be more akin to the timbre and volume of the baroque trumpet. You have the skills to express the music any way you decide. Could this be played at a memorial service to help remember the departed and comfort the family? I want to encourage trumpet players to have discussions and debates about interpretation of our repertoire just as string soloists, vocalists and pianists do. We tend to talk a lot about how to play the trumpet. I mean no criticism of your playing or musicianship, but like to encourage discussing expression. I look forward to contrary opinions to mine! I wish I had heard it live to more accurately hear the real expression you put into it. I might be completely happy with it! If you want this removed from your video, just say so. Congratulations on a very fine performance!

That's an expensive instrument, it's about 6,080 USD. Wish I could try one out and see if I could get any good sound, but I'll just have to keep listening and not playing.

Have you ever experienced any problems with your Ophicleide? I'm incredibly fascinated with this instrument, but the $4100 price tag from Wessex places it far away from me. I don't really gqve $1400 either, but if the Schiller one is quality, it would be great to know.
