This channel documents my journey into becoming an ultramarathoner. Having dabbled in many sports in the last few years, I have decided to finally settle on one and pursue it with intention. I ran a 60km ultramarathon in 2022, but haven't ran since. This marks the beginning of the new journey, starting with training for the 2024 Prairie Nightmare Backyard Ultra. Come along for the run, the journey, and the progression as a runner and as an athlete!
The Year Behind | 2024 Recap
A recap of what I've done this year! From starting the channel to running a backyard ultra to setting a personal best in the 10km distance, it has been a full year!

7 weeks into the build and I get to test what effect the work has had on me. This race was a lot of fun and a lot of work, but it has given me perspective on what I can accomplish with focus and dedication. Here's to more of the same!

I review the Hoka Bondi 8 shoe, the shoe that I have put the most work in on. From stack, to drop, to durability, I cover everything I could think of that would matter to someone looking to buy it. Let me know if I missed anything! #hoka #hokashoes

The start of another build, this time for a shorter, faster race with a personal history. I finally get the chance to turn up the speed and start building on the base that was built during ultra-prep. Come along for the run!

After the ultra, it feels like things have fallen off. But I'm still running, still working, and still putting in the miles. Now, the goal is to get back to putting out content too.

Thank you for your review. Planning to get these and the discounted More V4. Gonna use them for long walk and standing. I work in the hospitality industry so I need the most comfortable shoes.
I am glad you could find it useful! They are definitely very comfortable; I hope they work well for you!
I like how you said you gave up. Um dude, there’s only one person per race that doesn’t give up.
Hahaha good point! I guess it was more knowing that I genuinely could have gone longer but instead made a conscious decision to stop rather than being forced to from injury or time constraints.
Watching this from Boston pizza! Miss you homie!
Right back at you my friend!
Running a backyard after 10 weeks as a runner is… nuts! Wow!
It was definitely an experience😂
Amazing Just amazing Be proud
Thank you so much!
Eating and drinking much earlier?
No, I had been eating and drinking my calculated amounts from the very first lap. There's only so much you can do on 143 total miles of training hahaha
Wow! Well done! Thank you for sharing..!🎉
Thank you! It was a fun video to make, and a fun test of will!
Running coach here - Yeah, for ultra stuff... don't run anybody else's pace. You were smart to run your own pace when it got hard. And heck yeah, UnderArmor heat gear is the best, hot or cold. Stops abrasions and quality is fantastic. Acts as a nice base layer in the cold.
Thank you! There were definitely pros and cons to the pace change; I think going at my own pace would have gone better if I had remembered to listen to music so that that could occupy my mind!
@@kostasbach3027 Oh, I have a great tip on that! Start off listening to either talking podcasts or audio books. After a few hours, switch over to chill music. Then towards the end as things get hard, switch to heavy metal or rap to keep your energy up for as long as possible. I've done it a dozen times and it works great!
This sounds epic! Will giver a whirl the next time around!
10 weeks from 0 base? Wild man! Here I am wondering if 6 months is enough to even sign up for one.
Hahaha yeah it was definitely not ideal, but what can you do? 6 months will definitely give you enough time to build a solid base and condition. Let me know how it goes!
Good Luck!
Thanks!
You are doing amazing. You got this..🇨🇦👍
Thank you so much!
I subscribed for you man.Holy shit
Thank you!
Stay motivated
Motivated some days, disciplined the rest!
Keep it up!🤟🏼
I will my man!
Keep at it bro 👍💪
Heck yeah, appreciate the support!
To only train for 10 weeks and attempt this is insane! Hell of a job buddy head up
Thank you! Haha yeah, it was pretty wild. Looking forward to finally having proper time to prep now that I am running more consistently and am able to condition properly! Thanks for the support!
Awesome video going on here here..👍 Inspiration 🎉
Thanks a ton; you are always so positive!
bro learn the algorithm first
What do you mean?
@@kostasbach3027 how to get views likes subs faster etc
@@kostasbach3027 its not impossible to get 5k without learning it but if u used the algorithm u would get it way fadter
I've done a lot of looking into stuff like that. At the end of the day, this is a way to be active every day, up my mileage (I am training for ultra marathons) and build the channel. Some things hit, some don't. It all takes time! I appreciate the comment though!
@@kostasbach3027 !!!
Let's go. You're doing it.
Slowly but surely!
finally!!! an actual video on the training!!! thank you!!! I did a few backyard ultras in 2016... 2017... 2018... then i took a break... now i am ready to try again... but the one i signed up for is in Cape Breton in 2025 and has the most elevation of any BYU in North America!!! I need to start training now... thank you for this video!!!
Dang, elevation combined with a BYU sounds like a brutal challenge!! All the best in it! I hope the video helps somewhat; with your background, I reckon you already have a pretty good idea of what to do! Would love to know how the BYU goes if you remember this comment by the end of it!
Keep up the good work
Thanks, will do!
Back in the day, I used castor oil , works wonder for so many things.

Treadmill doesn’t count 😅
In what world!?😂 I don't even think pro runners put in lots of kms on a treadmill and then say "Dang, too bad all that effort didn't count! I should have been outside!" 🤣 All love, appreciate the support!
Everything ok? Just ensure it's not rhabdomyolysis, yeah? Onward to a good rest and recover and more running!
Totally okay, just a lot of running with no recovery, coupled with not doing weight work to strengthen muscles. Thank you for the support!
Nice edit man. Great job.
I appreciate that, brother!
Less than 1 minute in... Put a sheet on your bed man 😂
It was a hotel 😂
Get after it!! Try Tumeric capsules for joint pain!!
Thank you, I will give this a whirl!!
That is wise. You are doing great 👍
Thank you! It is hard to pull back, but the body is being pretty clear that it needs it
