I work graveyard shift as a security guard. I spent New Year’s doing patrols and not thinking about reasons to celebrate. I’m an introvert too so the night suits me better. I’m not bad with people in fact I’m actually pretty good with them but they stress me out with their nonsense and I get tired and depressed if I can’t get time to myself. I feel the same way about holidays. I want to feel happier about it than I’m able to but I also lost people who made the holidays mean anything. So I’m happier alone at least than I would be surrounded by dopamine junkies. The only reason I think I get depressed is when I feel guilty for not being happy like everyone else and also when cats die 😢

It is so endearing to watch you make the most of your situation and having little glimpses into how you carefully but intentionally invite the holiday spirit into your house.
