After 44 years of martial arts, there are only four trapping hand techniques
I wish when I was a beginning student I'd have had the patience to realize that the so called "basics" was actually also the advanced stuff. I was in to big of a hurry to get to the next belt to really drill down and get everything right before I moved on . Because I ended up realizing I couldn't apply anything in real life because my foundation wasn't solid . In the end you fight with the basics , so if anybody reading this is a new student , don't be in a hurry . It takes far longer to go back and try to undo your mistakes than it does to get them right in first place . Greeting from Seattle!
@BradYaeger Thank you so much for sharing such a thoughtful and valuable perspective! 🙌 You hit the nail on the head-mastery of the "basics" is truly the cornerstone of everything in martial arts. It’s easy to get caught up in chasing belts or advanced techniques, but as you said, the basics are what you rely on when it really counts. Your advice to new students is gold: taking the time to build a solid foundation pays off in the long run. It’s not just about moving up; it’s about truly understanding and being able to apply what you learn. Keep training strong, and hopefully, this message reaches new students who need to hear it. 💪👊
💯 applies to every sport! Pros do the basics perfectly 98% of the time, most everyone else can hope for maybe 50%
Cool video
Thank you!
Between being gassed out just talking, making opponent stand perfectly still, and not making any sense, this is 100% bullshido. "You can nullify wrestling and alot of things on the ground by squaring up" yes its kung fu thats destroying the mma world 😂😂😂 If you dont fight, dont teach.
I would listen to him 👆he traveled through Mirkwood Forest and lived.
@BilboBaggins-q2o Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's clear you're passionate about martial arts, and I respect your enthusiasm for the craft. However, I think it’s worth having a conversation to broaden perspectives. Martial arts is not just about competition or proving dominance in the ring-it's about developing discipline, understanding techniques, and fostering self-improvement. You mentioned that teaching should be reserved for fighters, but wouldn’t you agree that some of the greatest instructors aren’t necessarily active competitors but rather skilled practitioners with a deep understanding of technique and strategy? Many world-class coaches excel because they’ve dedicated themselves to teaching rather than competing. You’re clearly confident in your perspective, so I’d genuinely love to see your fighting or teaching methods in action. Where can we find examples of your work or videos of your fights? It would be great to understand your approach to martial arts. Let’s keep this dialogue constructive-it’s always a win when we can learn from one another. 👊
May I ask, what is the name of this form? Thank you.
More please! I started my BJJ journey with you in Austin many years ago. After all the opportunities that I have had at other training facilities, your instruction is always what I revert back to. Thank you for all that you are continuing to do.
FYI to ppl, this won’t work in a real fight. Even boxing is hard if you’re going against someone who is flaying arms around. The unpredictable is scary
Thank you for your comment! To clarify, this isn’t intended as a fighting technique. It’s part of a specialized training method designed to enhance body conditioning. The practice focuses on striking different parts of the body to strengthen muscles, toughen the skin, and create microabrasions in the bones that stimulate growth and hardening over time. The goal here is to build resilience and durability, which are foundational for any martial artist, regardless of their fighting style. While it’s true that real fights are unpredictable, conditioning like this prepares your body to endure the chaos and physical demands that come with combat situations. That said, this kind of training complements technical skills but is not a standalone solution for self-defense or sparring. Thanks for highlighting the importance of understanding the distinction! 👊
i can’t believe people really believe this shit 😭 like this stuff is not real and it doesn’t work in any scenario, can’t believe people give other people their money for this garbage
@punch5ive Thanks for your comment! I want to clarify that this is not being presented as a fighting technique. What you’re seeing is part of a specific training method aimed at **body conditioning**, not combat application. This practice focuses on hardening the body, strengthening muscles, and micro-fracturing bones in a controlled way to stimulate regrowth and increase resilience over time. It’s a traditional method used in many martial arts to develop durability and prepare the body for the physical demands of striking and receiving strikes. While it’s not for everyone, it can be highly effective when done correctly and safely under proper guidance. That said, it’s always important to understand the purpose of such training before judging its effectiveness. I appreciate your skepticism-it’s good to ask questions. If you’re curious, feel free to dive deeper into the science and tradition behind these practices! 👊
These gimps have never had a street fight in there life 😂 .This is a cardiography dance between two people who are cooperating with each other .Its a dance all this shit nothing more . Has no help to you in real life situations.Get yourself in the boxing gym or cage

For those who don't know, this man's name is Jeff Hughes, a master of Seven-Star Praying Mantis and creator of the Iron Mantis system. His books are *INSANELY* detailed, and if you incorporate and apply the esoteric aspects of these traditions (also in his books and website) then you will have an all-encompassing, holistic system for health, self-defense, and ancient wisdom. 11/10 recommendation.

Excellent speed, which is breaking down not only each posture but the transitions from one posture to the other! Excellent way to teach... Excellent way to learn... Thanks for posting this video!
🔥🔥🔥
Phony 😂😂😂
can that work?? more like dancing
Can it work for what? What do you think forms are for? 🤔 If you do nothing but forms, it's not going to help you fight much more than reading a book. If we individually practice the applications from the form with resisting partners, and do some sparring, then it can be very useful, if you get good at it.
Excellent performance!
Good performance of the set known as "18 Elders". Thanks for posting this video!
Nicely executed Praying Mantis set "Small Fighting Frame". All the movements were very clear and precise. There aren't many videos with examples of this praying mantis handset. Thanks for posting this video.
