    I ordered mine today, m4.4

    There is a new version "OF -M4.4". Is this just a new batch (4 -> 2024), or do you change something?

    • @omnifixo
      @omnifixo 3 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Great question, the majority of changes are tweeks to have even more stable production, some smaller adjustments on materials and deburring process. Actually I don't think anyone will notice these changes but it feels good for the perfectionist in me ;-). The larger adjustment is on packaging with a new "global" packaging that now also includes a new super slim "field box" that provides better protection in shipping and a nice way to store the product. I will release the box design on Thingiverse, but there are so many good variants available already…

    Just got mine. Awesome tool. The guy was easy to communicate with and it arrived quickly. I bought two. I want my son to get into electronics and having good tools makes it a fun adventure, not a frustrating experience.

    Well thought out product, but you didn't *actually* solder anything, nor run the motor, nor do anything to the PCB while it was in the jaws. This begs the question how does it cope with the heat of soldering and the forces from the motor, and how stable are the clips when probing or soldering? This ought to have been a functional demonstration instead of a superficial look-over.

    Just got my Omnifixo for Christmas! Looking forward to trying it out fully but I always found the croc clip helping hands more trouble than they are worth.

    If you can afford to buy this expensive tool, you certainly can afford to buy a $30 heat gun. Shrinking heat shrink tubing with a BIC lighter is classless and leaves soot marks.

      I own two good heat guns and always seem to default to the bic lighter. 😂

    Maybe a "Marker" would be great on the Magnets, so you van be sure that you don't apply voltage to a clamp that's not supposed to get voltage

    Is Ground only "active" on the round field on the metal plate ?!

    • @c0mputer

      Yes of course. Otherwise the clamp that gets power would short out. It seems obvious that the little ring on the top left is where the clamp needs to be.

    • @ItsBoyRed
      @ItsBoyRed 9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      no, the clips aren't conductive from the magnet. you have to flip the yellow magnet around as well for it to make contact with the board, further, you have to remove the sleeves from the clips.@@c0mputer
