I am impatiently awaiting her unique concert in Nantes (France) in April 2024. I was able to get two seats in the front row and after her very intimate Covers tour where she hid in the shadow of the spotlight, here she is again dazzling and flamboyantly accompanied by a very talented backing band to replay this legendary concert by the great Bob Dylan. Certainly a mythical, magical anthology concert, so full of symbols when you know the passion, the love of Chan for Dylan. so excited ! 😁

I saw him last April solo and I must say that this new tour is more successful... his new manager also supervises the sound and he is very very good and certainly no stranger to this success. the video animations are pleasant... On the other hand, after having seen the latest videos in the Netherlands in particular, I find that the liberties or variations taken on certain pieces are not always successful...

My pleasure! I've been dreaming of seeing him on stage for 25 years and I had to wait until 2023 to see him twice in six months! This concert was simply brilliant... mystical, transcendent... A perfect show, a sound that was gut-wrenching both literally and figuratively... The collaboration with Treha Sektori on this tour works well and gives each piece a new and interesting look and depth... And then David Eugene... What charisma, what fucking talent! this man comes from another world or was touched by the grace of God... Just a little disappointed by his manager who refused to have a vinyl signed... A little hard when we organized his stay 500km from home just for this show... Not very nice... just a signature without even bothering the artist... Well he was also in management supervising the show and it was flawless at that level.. It somewhat compensates for my disappointment with this gentleman...

@@davidpao3906 my oldest son told me about him about 13 years ago.. he said, mom you're really gonna like his music and the lyrics! he was spoton. we've been to a bunch of shows, the last time was November 2019 here in Billings Montana. his new album gives me more chills. I feel like he's talking to me directly.. which I think one should experience with a good preacher. 😎 I'm sorry to hear about your experience. he was a guy doing his job.. he doesn't know any of us from Adam..i can feel the tension. @@kathysenn7664 No no! No tension... I saw that this manager was managing the dismantling and tidying up of the stage after the concert... I think he didn't really want to go back upstairs... And David apparently needs to recover, to come down after his shows... Just as you say, for this man we are just fans among hundreds of thousands, millions of others? Each personal story is different... his former European manager was much more accessible and understanding and understood that my admiration and attachment to David and his music went beyond the scope of a simple listener or spectator... I organized a stay of 500km on two occasions just because it was the only way to see him on stage... Finally to come back to the concert, I loved this proximity because the stage was small and there weren't too many people. . it was very intimate... And the accuracy, the aura, the strength that emanates from DEE... just exceptional... A great man, an enlightened and enlightening preacher... If one day he reads these words or someone reports to him, I just want to say thank you for the pleasure but also the light and comfort he brings to some of us... God bless him and bless his family. And I hope you can see it again with your son live soon... there are still some very good songs on this new album!

I don't think people were disappointed by the concert itself... I haven't read anything about it, except for the fact that 60.. 65 minutes is a bit short but it becomes a bit the norm... And again, David did an encore, where more and more often artists are content with one set and don't even bother to play the game of encore which leaves the impression that the artist is attentive to the words and to the expectations of his audience. What seems to disappoint some fans above all and which has been mentioned on certain youtube discussions, is above all the inspiration, the choice, and the form that Wovenhand's latest albums take... Many seem to find them too rock, less inspired and I think it makes them a little nostalgic. ... That is all. DEE knows how to bounce back and renew itself... Personally, after a few years of ignoring Wovenhand but remaining faithful to 16 horsepower and Wovenhand's first albums, I rediscovered those I didn't know and this tour really pleased me personally...

​@@davidpao3906 he did a solo tour in 2011 , it was 60 min long and I enjoyed every minute, i didnt feel cheated about the time cause it was so darn good. He does evolve and try new sounds. people who havent understood that by now isnt paying attention enough. Done solo shows in US during the pandemic and released a solo recording / stream before the tour.

​@@davidpao3906 He started to do more heavy rock stuff on "Ten Stones", it was released in 2010. Since then experimented with heavy rock n even electronica, so if people want him to play 16 horsepower style. They have too wait for some time, or for never. Lol

Ravi... Un peu court, mais c'est malheureusement devenu la norme pour un grand nombre d'artistes... Le niveau du micro un peu faiblard sur quelques morceaux, mais DEE au top! Et toi, qu'en as tu pensé?

@@davidpao3906 Jy suis pas allé, justement j'hésitais pour paris. Je suis souvent allé le voir et la dernière fois , j'étais déçu quand il étais avec son groupe.

@@mickaelhaques8753 bein là c'est sa tournée solo... Des rumeurs disent que cela pourrait être aussi fini pour Wovenhand étant donné qu'il n'y a pas eu de tournée pour leur dernier album et qu'il a enchaîné avec une tournée solo.. A voir si ça ne sera qu'une parenthèse... Je n'avais jamais vu Sixteen horsepower ou wovenhand en live donc je n'ai pas de point de comparaison, mais personnellement j'ai beaucouuuuuup aimé ce côté intimiste de cette tournée... Son banjola, sa gratte, quelques pédales et un tabouret... Il y'avait une centaine de personnes et beaucoup etait sur les chaises, donc pas pressé dans la fosse .... Quelques personnes avaient leur appareil photo compact... Le personnel du Brise Glace vraiment top et sympathique... DEE n'était pas disposé à aller a la rencontre du public mais en sympathisant un peu avec la sécu ils ont eté voir le tourneur de DEE et j'ai reussi a faire dédicacer 2 vinyls... Malheureusement beaucoup de salles où les mecs s'en foutent et ne cherchent même pas à rendre service... Pas là! Encore mille mercis à eux... Pour conclure, je pense que cette tournée valait le coup... Déjà du fait du peu de date en France, mais aussi pour le côté acoustique intimiste... Un spectateur qui ne connaissait pas et était là pour des photos me disait qu'il n'avait pas trop aimé car pour lui tout se ressemblait et était monotone... Je comprends que quand on connait pas l'artiste et son style il faut parfois un petit peu de temps pour rentrer dans l'univers... Moi j'ai adoré, malgré quelques problèmes de volume de micro voix par moment ... En regardant les vidéos et celle de l'audiofeed que l'on trouve sur youtube, tu penses que cela t'aurait plu ou bien?

@@davidpao3906 en fait je l'ai vu avec 16 horsepower, je trouve que ça été le plus intense, une vraie alchimie entre musicien... après au début de wovenhand, vraiment très bien aussi (j'aime beaucoup le batteur ordy) t jusque là, le chanteur et le groupe très accessible. puis il y a eu un tournant avec l'album "The Laughing Stalk", plus rock, j'ai trouvé, et là plus moyen de le voir, alors que avant il attendait à la fin du concert...meme musicalement moins mystique, moins originale... j'ai l'impression qu'il se cherche quand meme (voir son dernier album et le duo avec alexander hacke), sans porter de jugement sur la qualité. je sais pas si j'aurai aimé meme si j'aime vraiment beaucoup sa musique mais je suis d'accord, il a un coté répétitif je trouve maintenant, ce qui était vraiment pas le cas avant. bien sur tout cela est juste mon ressenti. en tout cas merci pour les vidéos.

@@mickaelhaques8753 En fait j'écoutais Sixteen durant ma periode lycée et des amis m'avaient fait découvrir le groupe qui etait devenu notre bande son de nos week-end décompression dans un chalet vosgien... J'ai toujours adoré Sixteen... Le terme de mystique colle en effet parfaitement bien au personnage et textes de DEE. L'arrêt du groupe a été un gros coup dur pour moi et ayant déjà eu un peu plus de mal a accrocher a Secret South à l'époque, j'ai eu du mal a accrocher a Wovenhand... Je dois l'avouer... j'ai boudé le groupe pendant des années alors que les albums de Sixteen tournaient toujours en boucle durant des années ... Ce n'est que tardivement et grâce a des lives youtube que je me suis mis a redécouvrir Wovenhand... Je n'ai pas assez de recul pour avoir la même analyse que toi sur leurs différentes périodes, mais il est clair que certains morceaux et albums ne me plaisent pas du tout... Sans âme... Du gros son mais pas la magie des grands jours ... Concernant DEE, il m'a toujours donné l'impression de quelqu'un de solitaire qui ne doit pas forcément avoir le même rapport a ses camarades que dans certains groupes de potes où l'on sent une complicité a tous les niveaux... Je n'ai pas écouté l'album avec Alexander Hacke... Les critiques m'avaient d'ailleurs plutôt refroidies... Concernant sa proximité avec le public, pour le coup a Annecy on était déjà pas nombreux en salle et après ça s'est vidé assez vite, mais il attendait en coulisse et etait toujours là une heure après. Je pense qu'il a dû aller boire un coup quand cela a fermé au public.. Dommage car avec des artistes de la scène independante, les gens qui se déplacent sont souvent de vrais fans et qui comme moi peuvent faire des centaines de kilomètres pour les écouter, et avoir un petit espoir d'échanger quelques mots, d'une dédicace, une photo... Pour le coup j'ai eu la chance que des gars de la securité super sympa aient pris les choses en mai, mais je peux comprendre que certains soient un peu déçus de la durée des concerts et du manque de proximité des artistes avec leur public... Enfin, perso pour un premier live de DEE j'ai beaucoup apprécié, je ne me plains pas... Je rêve secrètement de le voir jouer du American wheeze, black soul choir, Denver grab,... Mais bon je pense qu'il faut savoir tour et la page comme lui a apparemment su le faire... 😂

Hello, I waited more than 20 years to see her on stage and measuring my luck, I even traveled more than 400 kms to see her a second time a week later. In these two performances there were some disappointments but it was still great Chan Marshall! Just the Greatest from the Moon! In Rennes, not in top form, however, it was flawless and excellent at all levels, but she shortened the show by about 20 minutes... No Cross bones style / Nude as the news No Me Voy /wild is the wind/rockets and the show was over on the Moon.... In La Rochelle, she played everything, but a few small memory lapses or failures... but nothing unacceptable... A full show of humor, love and sweetness... Most of the spectators let themselves be carried away by his music, but there are always a few people who forget that they are not alone in the world or at least that the world does not revolve around them... I remember 'an interview with Chan who said that she would like people to come for her music and not to see her ... That people close their eyes and let themselves be carried away by the music... During these concerts, we had the right to a cowboy who gratified us with his "Hiiiihaaaa" ! Or remarks a little out of step with the show (a security guard even asked him to calm down) and then on the second show, I had a couple of young people who spoke, laughed and commented on the show with just as much of a shift... For them, Chan was "singing his unknown songs"... What's not to hear... Simply because they don't really know Cat Power or they don't understand English and they didn't understand that she had offered us magnificent reinterpretations... I hope to see Chan again soon... Maybe a Dylan cover tour, after her show at the Royal Albert Hall next November?

@@himnal Hello, Glad to share these suspended moments with fans, and glad you like it. Out of respect for the artist and to still leave a little surprise to those who will see her on stage soon, I'm not very enthusiastic about the idea of putting a complete show online... I tried as many songs as possible from the two shows combined... Besides, I couldn't record everything in La Rochelle and she didn't play everything in Rennes... Just know that only a few titles are missing (Metal Heart, Bad religion, these days, i'll be seeing you, white mustang, unhate) Maybe one day, I'll put one or two, but definitely once the tour is over... I hope you'll have the chance to see it near you, the videos don't necessarily honor the band and their live performance.

Je l'avais vu à Rennes le mercredi précédent et meme si la prestation était top, elle n'etait pas en forme et n'avait chanté qu'a peine plus d'une heure (pas de cross bone style x nude as the news et pas le final me voy /wild is the wind / rockets)... Pour le coup là c'etait 1h30 ... Un petit grincement de dents aux amoureux a coté de moi qui ont osé dire qu'elle chantait " ses chansons pas connues" ! 🤣🤣🤣

Pas mal d'oldies effectivement et des réarrangements qui ont apporté un peu d'originalité plutôt plaisant... J'attends une nouvelle tournée et pourquoi pas en solo piano / guitare comme elle a pu le faire par le passé? Pour les 30 ans de What the community think, pouquoi pas!?! Elle l'a fait pour les 25 de Moon pix, je garde espoir! 😁

C’était la première fois que j’ai eu l’occasion de la voir en live depuis ayant été fan depuis l’album « The Greates ». J’avoue que j’ai été très impressionné par le concert, même si mon copain était déçu de ne pas avoir vu à quoi elle ressemble :D

Elle le supporte bien plus qu'avant... Elle prefere d'ailleurs la scène au studio qu'elle qualifie de froid et trop technique... Maintenant c'est une artiste que j'aime comme elle est.. Non formatée, humaine et naturelle, avec ses blessures, sa fragilité, et sensibilité... Ce qui m'interesse, c'est sa voix, ses textes, son travail d'interprétation et sa capacité a surprendre... Son corps et son image lui appartiennent... Si elle veut un casque a la daft punk ca ne me derange pas, je lui offre même!!! 😁 Pour moi ses concerts sont déjà exceptionnels ... Réinterprétations, impros, petits délires et touches d'humour... Et puis l'entendre s'excuser quand elle m'a conquis, ca me touche toujours autant.... Et puis petite précision à laquelle elle a fait allusion durant le concert et qui m'a eté confirmé par le staff.. Elle était malade... Pas bien ... D'où la durée du concert et toutes ses excuses qui me paraissaient sincères...

Oui un peu court quand même, mais superbe prestation pour quelqu'un qui se disait malade! En esperant avoir l'occasion de la revoir rapidement ! 😀
