100 Episodes, 13 Lessons, and a Lot of Gratitude
100 episodes. Countless hours (over 220 hours). An immense amount of gratitude for you-dear listener. In this episode, I share 13 lessons from the last 100 episodes and my excitement for the next 100 episodes. Themes across the lessons include curiosity, adaptability, persistence, managing our dreams, enoughness, embracing our multifaceted nature, and how deeply shared this human experience is. It’s a vulnerable episode and while not prescriptive advice, I hope that openly sharing what this journey has taught me has some resonance with you in your journey. Thank you for listening. Looking forward to the next 100 episodes with you.

Dream: The Art and Science of Slumber with Scott Carney
Who is the author of the Hidden Life if Trees?
With respect I offer this constructive criticism. I love Dr. Bjornerude and clicked on this content to hear from her. By the time you had finally paused to let her respond to a question you had spent over 15 min talking about yourself. By then I had lost interest. Good interviewers keep the self-reflection and personal observations to a minimum. The interview is about the interview subject, not the interviewer. That said, you have a very compelling camera presence and are quite articulate. You have the potential to be quite good but your style, at present, is too focused on you. Just my $0.02 for what it's worth.
Back listening for my second or third time, great material. One place I differ with the mainstream view (at say 46 minutes) is, the planet cannot just sequester carbon endlessly. It s probably the single most critical element for living organisms, it has to cycle. Have to see what Hazen says about this in his book 'Symphony in C.' So much to do, so little time.
Yay Kate! Yay Francis! Yay Solstice! Let there be light. Tribalism is not that admirable, you know that. Just look at what Israel is doing. Humanity has stupendous potential.
While I completely respect everything you do I believe in truth over recognition. Did you know that Lacey hides truths? One being an illegal adoption? While life stories can be inspiring don't hide the truths that can still be educational.
Stupendous conversation, thanks people. I just passed on the link without listening past 42:00 and now at 47:00 you are stuffing rainforests and whales into our gas tanks! So prescient! This is way above average; would write more but have to get back to your converation!
I feel I have been learning more and more about the reality of our progression as a species and it seems like we dead set on driving ourselves to extinction. If there are other civilizations out there they probably self destruct just like we will eventually. I don't mean to seem fatalistic but the evidence just seem to support our civilization inevitable demise.
I love the fairytale of geology. It's compelling and beautiful.
Great discussion from both sides! I'll need to pick up this book (already have the pregnancy book) and planning on looking up your first interview together also. Thank you!
Thank you for this conversation. This is such an interesting topic.
You are making amazing video content. I just watched the video and your video quality is appreciable. I am so impressed by your content, I was analyzing your channel and noticed that You are struggling with video views and ranking. May I share some tips on how you can achieve your goals?
As above as below is satanic saying. Are you aware of that?
You two are the best! Such a great discussion on hope and re-imagination of our world and our lives. I hope your are both coming back to the Old Salt Festival this year!
Stop spreading feminist marxist propaganda! We need to heal our western nations and these kind of lunatics try to drag us down!
I value the enthusiam and zest for conversation and shared values!
I devalue enthusiasm as contraindicated to shared values as most of us are quite unenthusiastic about most things and can never rise to extrovert levels of excitement and smiley-smiles.
You are such a wealth of knowledge in agricultural wellbeing. I pray that your health issues are improving. Podcast is amazing! xxx
hey
Hi Kate. Thank you for this, for your openness and truth. Self care is so important - keep on 🔥
Fabulous! Thank you!
😥 "promosm"
Everything we do, affects everyone around us. "What I do, is nobody elses business." Is this actually true though ? What we do affects our thoughts, mood, and future actions. How we treat others. Our mood affects their mood, etc.
Thanks for having me on Kate! Next time you are in Denver let me know.
Julia what a joy getting to know you more through Kate’s thoughtful interview. Your book is beautifully written, so well researched and organized. Also shout out to Storey Publishing, I’m lucky to have them in my backyard and always leave with an armload of books when I see them at events. And thank you Kate for always interviewing inspiring thinkers, takes one to know one😉
❤
Hi Kate, my goodness - there is such wisdom here in nearly every sentence. A friend told me about andreas and I got his 'Matter & Desire' book and this led me to finding your channel. I think the question at 1:42:17 is answered a lot by the conscious emergence of existential fear. As that took hold love and life were crowded out and as you say generationally this withdrawal from connection of particles to selfish individuality took hold. Thank you for the channel - as @monicaregiec says below - I think I'm going to stay 🙂
❤❤❤
Hi Kate, thank you for all you do 💛 I found you on Irene Lyon's YT channel and I think I am gonna stay :) If it is ok, can I ask about the camera you use in this episode? The quality is just amazing... Thank you!
It's a Canon Mark IV 5D!
@@katekavanaughmbs thank you so much for that! 💛 And I am wondering how you connect your canon to your computer. Do you use any streaming mixers or other devices that enable you to do that?
Have you seen the Disney animation movie “strange world” as it talks to many of the subjects discussed in this podcast
I have not! I'll have to look it up.
Dr van Vliet is my professor at USU! I was just wondering whether to subscribe and then I remembered I heard your podcast with Carnivore Cast - I was one of the first few episodes!
Your guest is too apologetic as to womens’ position in science research. Clearly we are no more “different” from men than they are from us. Yes, more funding for gender equality in science research REQUIRED, period.
Great guest, and conversation. Looking forward to your bringing on a wise woman who is post-menopausal (if fortunate, many women live close to half their lives in thus second phase of our lives. There are just so few “mature” persons here on the webs to learn from.) Thanks!!
This host is excellent - thanks for bringing organization and grounding to this interview. Will be checking out more of your productions - keep on truckin’. (Actually, maybe stepping in to guide this fellows’ meanderings more might have benefitted the listeners.)
