I started this channel during the C-19 Pandemic just for fun. It has now started to grow and I am enjoying sharing scuba diving experiences in the UAE with my audience. I am now growing the channel by adding equipment reviews and showing how I am learning to use the GoPro for all my videography. I am starting to collaborate with other ScubaTubers such as Critter Hunter. Matthias Lebo and Blue Horizon Diving so let's see where the channel goes.
A little about me I am British and 62 years old. I learned to dive with the British Sub Aqua Club in 1982. Opened my first dive shop Scuba Tech in the UK in 1985. in 1988 I set up Scuba Dubai and Scuba International in Dubai, followed by the Scuba Shop acquisition in Abu Dhabi. Scuba Arabia was then set up to operate diving at resorts in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and Ajman. I exited the Scuba Diving business I think it was around 1995, to focus on my construction career and business. Now I am a budding ScubaTuber. Email bdavies.scuba@gmail.com

Dubai Coronet • Now Termite-proof • 6 Month Refit Done!
In this video I let you know all the work we have done over the last 6 months on Dubai Coronet 48 year-old Danish built, classic motor yacht.
We had a lot of issues mainly from unattended GRP repairs which resulted in watering ingress and subsequent damage to wooden supports all of which have now been replaced with iroko timber or aluminum , fully sealed, and protected with epoxy, carbon fiber composite laminate.
The boat had a termite infestation which was unknown and resulted in significant damage to some of the timber, which was obviously not termite proof. All the affected timber has now been replaced with a iroko and and treated plywood and again been fully sealed and protected with epoxy and carbon fiber composite laminate. It has been very slow, but very rewarding work to give Dubai Coronet a new lease of life.
Upgrades have included
A new Garmin navigation system including radar, AIS and Autopilot
Jet powered bow and stern thrusters
Gyrostabliser
2.4 kW of solar
LED lighting throughout
Outside cook station / wet bar
Please subscribe and come along for the journey.

From before lots of changes sir.... it's looks very nice and am happy about worked on corenet 44
Coronet looks awesome again. I bet it cost you arm and leg but it’s worth it to have nice looking classic see you soon buddy.🤙🤙🤙
As we did most of the work ourselves cost was kept reasonable although the goodies (new navigation and autopilot, jet thrusters and gyro stabliser cost a bit)
So much work but so rewarding. Well done.
@ thanks Dave it was exhausting hopefully I can now get back to making move content
Cool

Thx for your answer. Did you make any comparison between gen 2 and gopro on video?
A superb review. Thanks very much indeed 🤿
I will have a five review out soon
How is the diving over there ?
I think its ok did not bring any equipment with me. I made a mistake should have planned a couple of days diving before the sailing adventure

How to open O2 first stage, where can get refurbish kit
@@urusalaaaa You cannot you can only keep in as good condition as possible and test. First stages are cheap to replace once they are done.
I’ve been on the exact same boat and very similar sites (and with good weather some in the far North). Overall pretty good diving and very accessible from AD / Dubai
@@RemoteViewr just had last weekend on the Red Dhow a step up from Yas. We got all the way up North this time

Hello sir brian

Glad to see the nozzles holding up as expected!
Yup all good but we blew a fuse when using the thrusters our mistake as we routed through a switch panel with only a 3 amp fuse 🤷♂️

Thanks for your support
Good morning to you Brain
Thanks Turget
The sharing dhows will never go to the best sites, given the general inexperience of most divers. The sites we used to visit on our chartered private dhows which you used to come on are unlikely to be visited again given most of the knowledge of their locations as well as knowing when the conditions permit diving has pretty much left the UAE. I doubt whether there's even 5 people that know the sites (and probably only 2 that can plan the dives around currents etc) I miss our trips up north, especially far North right in the strait of Hormuz, on the Quions they were fab weekends, even if trying to please everyone with site choices was hard, especially in windy or on springs... Wave at White Rock and Mother of mouse for me Martin
@@TwelvePaws Good to hear from you Martin. We are working on getting private trips back on track.
I will try to make it Brain ,UK time should be 1.30 am see you on 16Sep
Thanks
Thanks for the video Brian. I really enjoyed the part at the end with the two moray eels, the lionfish, and The Purple Rope sponge. Nice video!
Thanks Dave glad you enjoyed it. Was getting used to a fantastic new wide angle lens for the GoPro.
Wow 😲 so nice
Thanks 😊
yeah!how outstanding footage~ goodbye!;))
Thanks
Taking that much on a diving trip let alone on the dive with you is absurd and unnecessary. 1 smb is plenty. Stay with your group
@@harrisonthrasher55 Unfortunately i have to disagree on the two times I was in the water for quite some time I was with the group! The first time a heavy fog rolled in. The second time the boat was picking up other groups as the live-aboard had diving split in four groups of six. I also dive in the Musandam which is very remote and with extremely strong currents. There we dive in buddy pairs with boat cover for several buddy pairs. I do not know your diving qualifications or experience but your comment suggests you have not done remote or extreme current diving. Unfortunately people just use words like absurd to make themselves look like an expert without knowing the full facts. Just recently a father and son lost theit lives in Indonesia due to being lost at sea with their Instructor (who survived because she left them!) They would be probably bern alive today if they have the items I suggest.
Going there in 1 week with my wonderful Wife
You will enjoy it
I loved the Oolong channel! The cabbage patch was amazing. Would go back again as well. :)

Hello Brian! Nice to see You are well and back. Keep the good work up. 💙
@@WetSouls thanks chaps managing to get a video up every week
Awesome video! BTW, how did you book the scuba diving trips and how much was it? The day trips offered by the resort are kinda expensive, around $120 pp. What about yours?
$120 pp per dive (tax & service fee included)
@@Dark0Voice I booked a liveaboard diving catamaran through Dharavandhoo divers for three of us for the week.
Good to see you diving on Justin`s boat , looked excellent for UW filming👍
Cheers John I need to get back to Dauin
Is Paralenz still in business? They don't have a website anymore.
@@dive9495 The company has been liquidated they failed to deliver the promised performance, priced the product too high, had too many expensive hangers on and no plan. The investors finally gave up and pulled the plug.
Wow nice
Thanks Alex
Nice to see you back😊 Stumbled upon your channel searching for Coronet videos some while back. Has been a great pleasure watching the work on her. The “extra” benefit from watching is listening to that Michael Caine voice😁 Thanks for sharing your experience with the boat and diving. Kindly
Thanks we have a lot of Coronet videos coming. The Jet Thrusters, Gyrostabliser install a huge amount of solar and new radar and autopilot. Once all that is done (by year end), we will be doing some nice passages around the region.
@@DubaiDiver sounds great 👍 looking forward to seeing all the struggles you have with the old lady😁 She’s so special and absolutely beautiful and unique. Just lovely ❤️😎
Just uploaded a Coronet video
Waiting for amazing things..
You make it sound like I abandoned Shai and her career building, but its actually the opposite. I'm just not filming it much. Now that I have my own dive center, she and a few of our other sponsored kids are doing a ton of courses. Shai is about as far as she can go but she is turning 18 in a few months and then we are finishing her SDI Divemaster. She training on every dive now to be an instructor eventually.
On the contrary Shai owes her start in the business to you. What I stated was correct was it news. Anyway it’s excellent positive news from your side glad that her journey continues. Might be an idea to do a Scuba Apprentice update on your channel. Would be good.
I love the new Logo looks awesome
Thanks Turgut
Great to have you back. Have always enjoyed your content. By the way, are you still using that Apeks 90L roller bag? I bought one after your initial review and it has served me well, most recently on a recent liveaboard experience in the Galapagos.
@@robbchadwick2793 Thanks Yes still using the back very well made although i am upgrading to a larger bag. Video coming soon.
Sorry about the knees Brian, been there and now even worse issues with aggressive Prost C. Getting older but still good, diving is a passion that helps keep the mind positively focused in the most amazing way. Excellent you are fresh again Brian, time to film
