Knife making - Edc Knife with integral bolster from an old file. Messer machen
In this video I show you how I forge an Edc knife from an old file. It is the first time I forge a knife, so the preform is still a bit thick. But I think it turned out quite well in the end. What do you think?
The spacer and the endcap is made of brass and the handle I built from micarta.
Was denkt ihr?
Musik: Epidemic Sound

Knife making - Hunting/ EDC Knife with a hidden tang
In this video, I will show you the making of a Hunting/ EDC style knife. It's a hidden tang knife. The bladesteel is from O1/1.2510, bolster is bronze, pin is brass and the handle is made out of smoked oak.
Great looking product, just 1 item to critique - don't use metal hammer on stiching forks because it will mushroom the top and cause burrs that will cut you or break off and could get in eyes. But other than that great work.
hallo Mr magnificent this is not forge at all this is real an art you got talent no one else have it your job is wow I like the that you thinking well done I'm from kuwait and I'm 60 ys old my studies is Mechanics production so I know what I'm talking about ❤
Great job 👍👌💯
Don't understand why they use a cut-off type grinder to cut out knives I use my stand up bandsaw it's a lot easier and no way that you can make a mistake and screw up what you've got started with the grinder cut off blade if you make a wrong move you've run your knife
Top sieht richtig toll aus
Fantastic work. dou you sell your knives?
Ganz tolles Teil! Gefällt mir super! Hast Du dafür ein Schnittmuster?
Vielen Dank.
beautiful piece! congratulations. did you use borax in the foundry?
Thank you. I did it without borax...
@@PPworkshop excellent technique. I don't know. Congratulations, the casting was perfect.
This video just made me admire integral bolsters...I had never paid attention to these types of knives... Amazing detail
This was a very satisfying video. Watching the whole process. Leather working was a hobby of mine when I was younger. I got pretty good at it, and it was a satisfying hobby. To be able to build something beautiful and useful, at the same time, with your own hands. 👍 I may take it up again.
I enjoyed the art and the music .. great taste👍
Thank you
Very nice
beautiful knife
Thanks

Hi, thanks for your comment. I do not build any for sale.
Das Goode
OMG, BEAUTIFUL KNIFE 👏👏👏👏👏👏
Some narration would be helpful thanks
Sehr schönes Messer
Vielen Dank

How is your leather so smooth when you’re punching the sew holes? When I do it, I I have to pry it back out of the leather and it pulls the leather up and warps it.
I punched the holes only to mark them and not through all the layers. I did the rest afterwards with the drill.
Pretty good design and pretty good looking sheath also.
Wrealy wrealy beautiful knife and wrealy wrealy high art knife ..i am love it ♥️👍
how did you get your stitches to line up when you added the belt loop? i don't think i could ever do that unless i just drilled new holes for the stitching
It's incredible what amazing things can one achieve with even the most basic tools in the most rudimentary shop (some could even call it garage) when he knows what he's doing.
Looks like this could be worn in about a horizontal position about anywhere you wanted on your belt. Awesome!
How thick was the leather?
Ca. 3mm
That hammered bronze piece...!!! What a beauty!!!!!!
Thank you
Beautifully done.
Bravo, c'est un superbe travail 👏👏👏
Forgewelding that bolster was cool idea
Thanks
Beautiful job! 👍🙂
Very slow maker,lock of experience
Fantastic job I’d love one
holy shit. really nice.
Great work!
This knife should be wield by aliens 👽🛸
Very nice looking knife, good video to, did you do your bevels with a flap disc on anglegrinder, if so they came out ptetty well!
Thank you. I did the rough grinding with the angle grinder and the finish with the belt sander. Because my belt sander doesn't have that much power...
that is a really nice build, and good to see what can be done with basic tools, similar to my little workshop/forge, come out really well, and a new subscriber here as well
Why did you stop releasing new videos?
I didn't have the time. I hope to make some more videos in the future, but unfortunately it takes a bit longer for me...
What liquid did you soak the blade in for that patina? Very nice knife.
Ferric chloride. Thank you.
👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏👏 👍🔰
