Why is Gain Staging Important?
- Emphasize how gain staging ensures a clean and powerful signal throughout the audio chain.
- Discuss the negative consequences of inadequate gain staging, including distortion and a muddy sound.
- Explain how proper gain staging can preserve dynamic range and headroom, allowing for more control during mixing and mastering.
Tips for Effective Gain Staging
- Recommend using metering tools to monitor signal levels accurately.
- Encourage experimentation with different gain staging techniques to find what suits their personal style and workflow.

I use DrMs and Kraftur alot.
Thumbs up! Please do a video on how to create a pro tools session starting with the dashboard. Which file type - bit depth - sample rate - i/o - you choose? Thanks.
Will Do.
Yeah bro . I never heard of any of those plugins. Thx
Subscribed bro! one thing I would suggest is to do the bypass off an on so the difference can be heard more some people will forget what it sounded like originally
P44 mag is a beautiful plug-in
SALUTE FAM!
Dope stuff and explained well.
Appreciate that, thanks for watching!
Bro looking like Pimp C lol..good advice man
lol. Pimp a legend!
I'm so fortunate and blessed to have been given the gift of music so I don't have to fake it.
Imo getting the levels right is always better than side chaining the kick and the 808. Side-chaining creates a pumping effect and you can make it smack without that
Yeah i don't side chain every time only when its needed. You can definitely make it smack without that 💪
How bout soothe 2 vs pro q4?
People still on those FL type beats even now? :o
Are these free? And also, how long did it take for you to get to your level for mixing/mastering? The production is the easy for but I still struggle to get that professional sounding mix.
Free is the most important factor 😂
@@nonenone9493😂😂😂
No these are not free. But i will do a video on my favorite free plugins. You get to this level but learning everyday and never giving up. Im still learning everyday an getting better. Read, watch videos and practice.
@@perfectharmany let us know when the free plug in video drops
If you have received a distorted mix with no headroom, lowering the volume ain't going to fix it. The mix itself needs to be lowered prior to exporting and sending to you.
Mix not distorted files come in too hot so lowering the levels will indeed give u more headroom to make accurate decisions.
Can you do a video on main gaining
Thanks! Really helpful
Can you explain Mid/Side how you understand it?
it's pretty simple actually. Mid/side refers to the stereo channels shared by each side. The "mid" is every sound shared by both the left and right channels. The "side" is every sound unique to either the left or right channel. What a mid/side EQ or a mid/side compressor does is allow you to independently adjust the frequencies in the center of the stereo image versus the stereo width itself.
@@OfficialExilica 🤦🏽♂️
Yeah, the side information is what is different in the left and right speaker and mid information is whats the same. Try using a Mid side plugin some easy like "MidSide by Goodhertz". Listen in stereo and turn the side all the way down. Hear what its doing. Then turn the sides back up and the mid all the way down. Listen to the differences and you'll begin to understand it better. Hope this helps.
@ thanks I’ll definitely try that. Appreciate you breaking it down!

Sounds real good! I'm still on the fence... I'm rockin' smooth operator, too.
Smooth Operator fire. I still love it. Still in the template
I’m want to learn music production! Should I check these out?
Not so much for music production but for mixing and mastering after your production.
For music production invest into a DAW of your choice (I like FL studio or Ableton) and stick to the stock plug ins. Most DAWS except for probably ProTools have decent stock sounds enough to make heat when starting
Yeah definitely get FL or even reason but FL is easier to learn Don't be like me and buy Ableton Live 11 without looking up to see that 12 was coming out two days later 💀
Honest review, great content brotha
The compression characteristics are really different....
I agree after using it more.
Of course you don't need it
Don't need it, but glad i have it. I like how it sounds.
It is a M/S plugin easy to use! I used other plugins like DRMS and they are more complicated. Nice to have it in my portfolio.
Agreed @raybeeger1529. I have Drms too. I use them for different things. Glad to this in addition.
"BIG" is now a permanent component on my groups at the end of the chain to determine the depth there. And one on the master bus, which is only used very discreetly, Monomaker is always set to 50-80-100, depending on whether I use a reverb in the sub-bass. And it sounds great.
Good to hear. Not sure what everyone is talking about it doesn't sound good...lol. But everything i put it on a track and bypass it I always leave it on. A tiny bit goes a long way. U don't need a lot. They think the people thats saying it sound bad are really cranking it.....smh. Its other ways to get the same sound via Midside eq and all that, but this plugin help me get what Im looking for easier. Thanks for the comment.
@@perfectharmany 👌✌
How do you think this stacks up or compares to the unfairchild 670 MKII?
I like them both but I think i like the sound of the Unfairchild a tad better.
ITS GOOD NO DENIED BUT YOU KNOW LIKE ME STEREO NORMALY DO NOT PUMP UP MIXES THE HARDWARE I THINK THATS IS COMPLEMENT THIS PLUG-IN IS THE CREM OF LA CREM ( SPL Vitalizer MK2-T ) IF YOU KNOW YOU KNOW! LOL
Thanks for the comment 👍🏾
th-cam.com/video/eoOKG4Rw7L0/w-d-xo.html
Skip this plugin, its literally a M/S EQ and not even well implemented.
MS Eq or adjusting the level of the sides has always been the finest way to get wider mixes so it's obvious to me that this would be a form of Ms eq.. This is a workflow plugin and in my opinion is well implemented as when you analyse this unit via plugin doctor you can see that adjusting things is moving multiple EQ parameters at once (Frequency, Q value, Gain, etc). It takes a very well known technique amongst mastering engineers and makes it accessible and easy to use. For those who value workflow and speed then this is for them! If you're happy to go in and tweak all the things yourself on an EQ then that's fine also! The same way some people are fine loading their own impulse responses because most reverbs are just different looking GUl's.. This was well said by (Who is Alex Elliot)
I like it!!!! Keep that💪🏾
These plugins are really easy to use… I thought it was hard to use at first… it’s really dummy proof ✊🏿
Best compressor period beast..
No lies detected....Its super dope. Thanks for the comment.
Interesting, thanks for your test. I'll probably listen to it too.
Yeah check it out, its a cool tool. Thanks for the comment.
Good video and great plugin!! This is versatile!! Other plugins can do what this does, but the 'flavor' of this one is surely unique. 🧡🙂
It really is! Thanks for the comment !
Sounds 🔥!
Im liking it for sure. Thanks for the comment. Its really dope on Bass.
Is this like the neold wunderlich plugin?
From what i read its suppose to be a emulation of a vintage Fairchild 670 with a couple different controls. Not 100% sure tho. Thanks for watching.
So, I compared it to the wunderlich they both give off that thick saturation but the wunderlich has a darker tone. If you turn down the travel knob(its like a saturation level imo) on the wunderlich it gets closer to the sound of the green but still a darker tone. Actually the opticom compressor in plugin alliance has a closer sound to the green. They actually sound extremely close in sound when you turn down the threshold all the way and turn up the warmth on the green 5.8% after level matching. I would say the green has a more open sound than the opticom. The warmth knob also gives the green more flexibility. The green is a nice tool to have in the tool box for color, but not a necessity. Definitely a cool one to have tho. As of 11-19-24 the code. Y0XESTBCKQJK will get you 15%off. Peace.
@sonnybrasco9735 nice work ..appreciate the info.
@@sonnybrasco9735 Thanks for the info man. Really appreciate it. 👍
@perfectharmany most definitely. Thanks for the review. I end up demoing it then grabbed it immediately. That's how I found that code. Knock off a few bucks. I believe it came to like $42.
Good to see the review so thanks! I'm a Kazrog fan (I own the 747, True Iron, Kclip3, True Dynamics) but I'm not sure this one is up there enough to my ears. Definitely demo it but I didn't care for the controls.
Yeah i use True Iron all the time. Thanks for watching!
Kazrog prices are so good they are becoming an instant buy
Some of the best sale prices in the game. Great quality for the money. Thanks for watching.
bla bla bla bla yeah he won grammys...because of the artists... no one ever won or will win a grammy cuz he has a plugin or not... ur video is deceptive esp for young producers and engineers.
It's just a seasoning in the cupboard. I don't think he said this plugin alone will make you great
@@the_handsome_bear Right, but thanks for watching. No one plugin will make someone the greatest engineer. Just a tool.
Thanks for the comment.
Lol😂😂😂 What Up P!
What up man. 😂
Kazrog don't miss .. their transformer plug is key on 808s .. them things hit with those
Yeah I use true Iron all the time, even on full mixes. Thanks for watching.
can't wait to try that in my backround vocals Bus
Yeah it should work great for BGs and parallel as well. Thanks for watching.
Thanks...I'll probably pick it up, while on sale!
Thanks for watching!
Good plugin. And good music for testing this badass. Thnx ;)
Appreciate that and thanks for watching.
I would choose the undertone plugin over UAD and Waves everyday😂 Undertone is totally from a different world. They did amazing job by emulating the plugin. Best emulating plugin I’ve heard so far!
on vocals should i use the waves curve equator first in vocal chain to clean up before mixing my vocal or after my vocal chain to clean up the already mixed sound?
You can use it either way. I like to use it after compression and eq. Once i get the sound i like from my compressor and eq I use it to touch up and catch certain frequencies that i might have missed. Or tame the top end after my eq, dynamically.
UnFairchild is now $99 intro price -- does that sway you at all ?? Big ups
Nice review I love your style! Just a heads up, you can group the inserts and bypass them both at the same time in one click (group tracks, in Globals select Insert g tick on Bypass)
Thanks for the tip! 👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾
