Eugene is Whit’s dependable, eccentric genius of an assistant. Whether he’s manning the ice cream parlor at Whit’s End, teaching at Campbell College, or at the controls of Whit’s latest techno-contraption, Eugene seems to know everything there is to know about everything! Or at least he thinks he does. He is very straightforward in his intelligence and, for a time, used an impeccable logic to explain most things with no appreciation for faith. Eventually, after a series of personally heart-wrenching experiences, he accepted Christ as his Savior.
Eugene is married to the former Katrina Shanks. The two live in Odyssey and have an adopted son, Buck Meltsner.
