เข้าร่วมเมื่อ 10 ส.ค. 2020
Reimagine is a non-profit organization on a mission to help all people face adversity, loss, and mortality, and channel the hard parts of life into meaningful action and growth. We envision a world where we can embrace life fully-from this moment through the end-and collectively contribute to a more just and compassionate society. To do this, we host community-driven experiences that bring creativity, connection, and essential conversation to communities around the world. Here, you may explore hundreds of recorded events with global thought leaders and renowned authors, artists, poets, meditation leaders, and more looking at one universal theme: how can we create beauty and transformation from the hard things in life?
Virtual Candlelight Vigil: John Onwuchekwa and J'aime Morrison
Let's honor our loved ones, hold space for grief, and reflect on the possibilities of transformation with John Onwuchekwa and J'aime Morrison, advocates for grief literacy.
Reimagine has been hosting candlelight vigils since March 2020, the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, in order to break down taboos and hold space for all that we've lost. This gathering features John Onwuchekwa, a storyteller and entrepreneur who recognizes that tragedy is part of our narrative but doesn't have be the ending. Our other featured guest is J'aime Morrison: dancer, choreographer, surfer, widow, and Reimagine community collaborator.
Dr. John Onwuchekwa is an Atlanta-based author, entrepreneur, and advocate for grief literacy. He holds a Doctorate of Ministry in Church Leadership and Community Witness from Emory University’s Candler School of Theology. He's one of the founding pastors of Cornerstone Church in the Historic West End of Atlanta. He is the host of the Four in the Morning Podcast. Founder of ventures like Portrait Coffee and The Crete Collective, John has been instrumental in endeavors that establish new narratives, particularly for Black and Brown communities. Tying all these plot lines together is John’s desire to see both individuals and communities thrive. John has partnered with the Gathering Spot to talk about all the intersections of culture, grief, and loss and will be on the We Go On tour which mirrors the name of his latest book We Go On: Finding Life’s Purpose in Life’s Sorrows and Joys.

J'aime Morrison, PhD is a Professor of Movement at California State University, Northridge. Professor Morrison recently returned from Ireland where she led workshops on ritual expressions of grief and rage at University College Cork. She has also led masterclasses in movement in Shanghai, Dublin, Belfast, London, Los Angeles and New York City. Her classes engage creative methodologies and movement-based practices from theatre and dance-making to create an expansive and inclusive space for physical expression.
As the founder of Mourning Surf, Professor Morrison turns her attention to grief and the body, specifically how grief is expressed physically and how movement is an essential part of the grieving and healing process. Last summer she provided movement for grief at Camp Erin through Our House Center for Bereavement and she led a somatic movement workshop at the most recent Endwell conference.
After losing her beloved husband Jim to brain cancer in 2015, J’aime began working on a short film titled Upwell, which composes a visual intersection of body movements to translate her experience of grieving, illustrating the role of both dance and surfing in her journey. The film was awarded the “Audience Award” at the Cannes International Short Film Festival.

That was just Fantastic ! Great Music Guys. I listen to you on TH-cam Religiously, and have for years. Thank You you two for Fantastic Music that has touched me for life. God Bless 🙏 ❤️
I love you guys
GREAT discussions! I too was very surprised at AI's list of the MOST common identity losses (IL). A few more recent IL maybe: identiy loss in this digital age, political loss (who represents me? am I represented) and possibly technology advanciement being so fast and feeling FOMO, esp senior aged...and surely COVID has exposed more identity losses yet to be 'labeled'. (just a few thoughts)
This is a really relevant and under represented subtopic of grief, thank you!
thanks friend.
Inspiring message, lots of respect for Steve Guttenberg
How wonderful❤😉👍️✨
Is Emily related to Emmett Franz of the Petersens band from Branson, MO
❤❤❤
Beautiful, but I think a vocal mic might have helped it a bit.
Wow, that version of Late September is really something! The whole session is amazing. Thanks!
Of the countless times i've watched Emily and Andrew perform these songs on TH-cam I have never had them look me in the eye while they sing and play. Feels like i'm sitting with them. Also makes it much easier to pick out the chords while I try and keep up! Love you both 💗

Love you guys but this location sounds hollow. Needs to be better mic'd. Sounds like you guys are in a cave. Least favorite performance of these amazing songs.

I also ordered Nicole’s book and was so touched by her honesty and her joy in what was a horrible situation. I love the world Omisade envisions and manifests. ❤❤❤
Thank you, Mary Ann, for your heartfelt comment! We're so glad to hear that Omisade's vision resonates with you. Her work in creating healing spaces and conversations around aging, especially for marginalized communities, is truly transformative. It's voices like hers that help us to reimagine and redefine the entire process of aging. Stay tuned for more enlightening discussions like this one! ❤🌟🙏
Listening to June takes me back to my days in the world of Radical Feminism and Women's Music. I was at the first Michigan Festival ❤🎉
We're thrilled that June's contributions resonated with you and took you down memory lane, Mary Ann! The Michigan Women's Music Festival was a landmark event, and it's fantastic that you participated. June Millington has been an icon and an advocate for so many, and her insights into aging bring the same depth and wisdom that she's shared through her music and activism. Thank you for sharing your own personal journey and for being a part of this ever-important dialogue on redefining aging. ❤🎸🌈
Ugh. I look forward to the day when privileged adopters stop kvetching about how much money and hassle they go through to buy other people's children. Jeff and his wife seem oblivious to their participation in the multi-billion dollar exploitive, predatory system of human trafficking called adoption. He and his wife built a family on the ashes on one destroyed. I hope they educate themselves about adoptee trauma caused by maternal/family separation and so many other aggressions, such as the lack of legal rights. If it happens outside race/country, culture the damage is exponential.
Another huge fan first time I heard someone was playing it as background music for a Traveling Motorcycle blog I Duge into it further and was instantly interested hooked its been a few years now 4-5 years or so thanks Blessings America need’s lot’s of things your music is one of those things thanks PTL
Timeless. Wonderful.
I was wondering whether she plays the violin or the viola, if those are violin, they seem big
Awesome poem, our best Me makes a great We.
I have a lot of gratitude for my eyes being opened to know I get to say who the enemy is. Just for today I have no enemies. And if America is paying attention they too must ask for forgiveness, The enemy of the state is hate
