OMP Super Decathlon - hovering and 3d aerobatics!
Here we have Joey flying my Omp Hobby Super Decathlon showing what a high wing plane is really capable of including hovering, rolling circles, knife edge and more!
A big thanks to Mabel at Omp Hobby and Steve at Knife Edge Rc to provide this fantastic aircraft locally in Australia. It's the sort of plane you always look forward to flying as it allows for such a wide variety of flying styles and provides a lot of fun!!
In this video the battery used is a 4s 3000mah lipo with the standard Sunnysky motor/esc/prop setup that comes with the PNP version of the model. Flight time is approx. 4mins.

Some cool footage I found on my hardrive from about 5 yrs ago, when my gopro only had 1080p res and no stabilisation..still, it was great to watch it back as it reminded me of how much fun it is was that day to chase my mate's motorbikes with the drone! What a great day of flying rc jets out at Hmas flying club with some excellent weather we all had a great day over the Easter long weekend. I finally got to maiden my Freewing F18 but the fan unit was very under powered, and so I will post a video of that in future with a new 90mm alloy edf with a higher kv motor and new esc, plus afterburner lights! This 15th anniversary FMS 70mm edf Viper jet is a really great flying model..Its light, agile and has plenty of power, even though it hasn't got unlimited vertical capability, it still climbs high and fast! Being able to fly my drone with Bob was so much fun, its been about 6 months since I last put the goggles on.. we caught some great moments on camera from my drone whilst flying last weekend..and yep there were some "near misses", but I was trying to fly nice and close to get a better look at the plane and its moving control surfaces as Bob was maintaining a hover, or rolling in circles. Hi can you adjust the electric brakes on the aspire to be more responsive thanks
I believe he can adjust the brakes off a spare channel, but as it works quite well without locking up the brakes, I'd say Bob will leave them at the setting currently used.

It's very difficult to fly and an 80 would be too small for the Lizard

Does it behave like a edge airfoil? I havent seen anyone fly this plane like a edge low n slow. I bought a edge from another company and it is terrible for low n slow flight, not a edge but maybe could be a slick. I like the quality of this plane except the omp decals on the fuse and wing. Is that a sticker you applied or does ot come alreaady applied. kinda a deal breaker for me.
Yes it will fly low and slow as I have seen Bob demonstrate at our club , and the lettering is in the film, and so you would have to cover over it to suit how you like

@@rcguss well that's too bad. Nice plane but company decals for advertising is a no go for me. The green one is cool because it's the planes call sign for a decal.

Yes you it can be and we haven't got any time frame on the production models as this is a pre-production model. Keep an eye out on Knife Edge Rc Facebook page for future updates.
Nice flying. I would just suggest that you set it up so that when you switch to your takeoff flaps and landing flaps... you can trim the plane out for each flight mode right then and there. You don't have to land to make those adjustments.
